newmein2017 got a reaction from Carol Blackburn in Can we use an air fryer?
I haven't had surgery yet, but my aunt had RNY 11 years ago and she introduced me to the Air-Fryer. She uses it so often she bought 2. I ended up buying one, my mom bought one, and my other aunt who is just a few months post RNY also bought one. I think they are great. If I use any oil on my food at all I just spritz it a bit, nothing more. Veggies turnout great. So far chicken is my favorite...crispy on the outside, but moist on the inside. I just put it in a zip lock back with some seasoning, shake it up and cook in the air fryer. No oil added.
I bought mine from Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20% off coupon.

I'm 3 months post op and stalled repeatedly. I'd increase my calories and get another drop. The body is just catching up and reregulating. Check your choices, follow your plan, get enough rest and just keep swimming.

Hang in there, the stalls are common. Continue good eating habits and excerise and the stall will break. I know it's frustrating right now. I have the same issue, I was on a stall for two weeks, all of the sudden I lost 6 pounds. Stay positive

newmein2017 reacted to OneReallyBigBird in Addicted to My 600 pound life.
A few years ago, I was almost 700 lbs and had large lymphedema tumors, so I contacted the show My 600 lbs Life, because I loved the show, and my life was beyond miserable and I needed the help that surgery could provide.
I sent photos and video footage of myself to the producers of the show, and they eventually decided to send a camera crew to my home for roughly a week to film an episode.
I was told after filming part one, I would have relocate temporarily to Houston, Texas to film a doctor's evaluation with Dr. Now, and later finally have surgery. I agreed to EVERYTHING, because I was so desperate for surgery.
However, after the week of filming in my life in my home, and interviewing my family members, the camera crew packed up and left, and then no one associated with the production would take my calls or call me back and this went on for weeks, meanwhile I had already made preparations to move to Houston.
After a couple months of no contact, I finally made one more call, and I was told by some nameless associate of the production, that there wasn't any interest in filming the rest of the episode with me because I simply wasn't disabled enough and didn't have any real drama going on in my life, as I don't have any kids or a dysfunctional relationship with a horrible spouse.
Fast forward a year later I was finally able to get the awesome surgery that I needed via Medicare and while I was in the hospital recovering I received a call from someone associated with the show, and I was asked how I was doing and if I was still interested in shooting the rest of the episode. I hung the phone up without saying a word. Unbelievable!
I still enjoy watching the show because it provides life changing help to people who really need it, but the idea of having to exploit one's awful condition and life in order to receive desperately needed help is just terrible.
I'm so thankful that the episode didn't get produced because I would never truly want anyone to see me in that dreadful condition, and I soon after found the will and the strength to lose almost 250 lbs all on my own and I just got sleeved two weeks ago and I've lost another 25 lbs since then.
Btw, I'm looking forward to seeing the new season of the show as well as all of you!
Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!

I'm scheduled for surgery on Monday! It seemed so far away when this process started and now it's just days away.
Who else is having surgery Monday? How are you feeling about it? What are your pre-op instructions? What have you stocked up on for when you get home?
I'm feeling more nervous as each day passes. I think I need to commiserate with others in my same shoes.

My doctor seems to be a little less strict too, and I'm pretty excited about it. Supposed to get the OK tomorrow to move onto soft foods. I'm glad you didn't have any problems with those foods, makes me excited for tomorrow! Enjoy your scrambled egg!

Hi! How are ya doing on full liquids? What does your daily menu entail? I was excited yesterday I finally met my liquid and Protein intake but I feel like I maybe doing too much. Mind you when I drink my shake it takes over an hour before I finish the whole thing. I find myself with a Water bottle at all times. I am just curious what everyone is eating. 10 days post op down 11 lbs since surgery.

Surgery date 9/9/16. 305lbs at surgery date 230lbs today. I have dropped my BP and blood sugar. My back and leg pain is gone. I am no longer sick all the time and made it through Thanksgiving and Christmas meals. I eat out regularly and have enjoyed wine and beer in very small amounts.
    It definitely gets better.

My surgeon recommended G2 also. To fulfill carb. requirements. I was unsure about it also. I am 4 mo. out from RNY now. It didn't seem to slow my weight loss or cause dumping, probably due to the low amount of sugar.

I agree. Pretty disappointed at some of the comments I've seen here. It's not you, some people can't help themselves.
About your question... I'm only 5 days out so take it for what it is. If you're making if yourself I recently found low carb high Protein tortillas at my local grocery store. Had them a few weeks ago. They weren't bad. You can always eat the Protein out of the dish first then if you have room take a few bites of the tortilla and see how it works for you.
    Merry Xmas.

[ For the first 3 months you should have nothing but Clear Liquids and Protein drinks then after 3 months you can begin with soft like eggs and still Protein Drinks. You can find a book on gastric sleeve that will tell you step by step what doctors recommend. I'm 7 months post-op and eating pretty much what is tolerated. Be aware that if your sleeve surgery was done properly you may not be able to tolerate what you once could and your taste could change.....my tastes have changed and I cannot tolerate eggs or mayo, sounds weird I know.. I've lost 117 to-date after 7 months so you will do great just follow a reputable diet and not this Mexico doctor and like the last person said find a u.s.doctor asap, for your health...but do your homework and see how many of these surgeries doctor has performed and see what reviews doctor has been given by his/her patients.. hope this helps! Good luck!! ]
Please be aware that not all teams state 3 months for clear liquids and Protein drinks. Mine was one week clear, one week liquids, two weeks pureed, two weeks soft and then if i was ready then onto general food. I ended up staying on some of the levels for longer as I wasnt ready for the next stage. Personally, I feel three months of clear liquids and drinks is way too long (just my own opinion) but you should find a good bariatric team and follow their instructions.
I really do hope you feel better soon xx

I go in at 9:30, but they told me surgery will be at 11:45am. I'm nervous. I don't know how I'll sleep tonight.
Haven't even packed anything yet, but from reading others posts I won't need much.
    Good luck to everyone tomorrow.

How's everyone doing? I've been home a couple of hours. I'm really tired, but can't seem to relax at all. I'm worrying about everything.
Had a scare during my surgery. Doctor said my bp was going crazy high then really low. At one point I was bleeding much more than usually because of a high bp. She actually hugged me this morning and said I scared her. So, now I'm scared and kinda wish I had stayed another night in the hospital.
Hope everyone else had a much more normal procedure.

I'm having a hard time getting in all the fluids. I'm scared to drink too much so I'm doing it very slow.
Seems I do get a little more that the day before. Popsicles are no problem. Anything with Protein tastes gross right now.
I'm still having abdominal pain. Soreness really. So I'm keeping on with the pain meds. Also been very tired, but here it is 3:30 am and I can't sleep. Ugh!

I haven't had the sore throat issue. I did have horrible dry mouth and Biotene spray helped a lot! My son has been sick with a dry cough since I've been home and the humidifier has helped a lot. Might help for surgery recovery too. Just a thought.
