Hey guys found these at costco 15 8 oz packs for $12.99 vs $19.99 for 10 packs on Amazon. I thought these would be a great alternative to big tetra packs of broth post op and less waste.

I start my full liquids on Monday. I’ve done it before so I know it’s 99% mind over matter. Hoping to get a nice jumpstart on weight loss before surgery.

On day nine of pre-op liquids, and I feel less hungry than I did the first week. I guess my body is adjusting. I'm feeling increasingly anxious and uncertain as the date approaches, and I'm sure I will until the moment they put me to sleep. I just keep reminding myself that I've been yo-you dieting for 30 years and this is my key to good health for the rest of my life.

Hi March Bypass Buddies! My surgery was almost a year ago - March 5, 2018. I had GB RNY. I was nervous - didn't know what to expect, but determined to get healthy. Now, almost one year post-op, I am 5 pounds away from my goal (though if I stayed right where I am, I am perfectly happy). I have my eating under control - I work out 3 times per week (mostly toning and light weights) - I'm in a size 2 or 4 depending on the designer (from a size 20) and my hair is slowly growing back (I am wearing a topper in the new picture).
Pictures are worth 1000 words - so here you go!

Look forward to watching your journeys over the next year!

Also, I’ve developed a rash on my tummy! WTH? NEVER had one before. What timing. He said if it’s not better by next week we will need to postpone. Ugh! I’m religiously using the steroid ointment they gave me. Praying it goes away fast!

You’re feeling nauseated and tired on the pre-op diet? I think that’s relatively normal if your otherwise healthy. What day are you on? It’s an adjustment from the way we use to eat to the pre-op diet way. You should feel better soon once you get into the zone and get use to the change.

Ever since I got my surgery date (March 27th) I am obsessed with watching my 600 lb life. I have watched it off/on over the years but now I just can’t stop watching it. I’m not sure why. Wondering if it’s just me?

Hey y'all. Just wanted to share a milestone I'm very proud of and actually doubted ever being able to reach. I just had my 1 year surgeon's and RD's visit after RNY surgery. A year ago I was here (yes that tree was my happy spot, and it stayed up until St. Patrick's Day *snort*).

And here I was at my most recent high, very sick weight of 287lbs (about 2 years ago). When I first saw my surgeon, I had been dieting on my own for 6 months and had lost down to 256lbs. The 256lbs was used to compute my RNY 6 month countdown. I'm the one of the left in case you were wondering--all 287 lbs.

Most of you know my story so I won't bore you with it here. I was very sick and on a ton of meds for everything from high BP to asthma, cancer drugs, thyroid meds (I think about 12 in all--not including vitamins). Fast forward one year and today I'm only on 3 drugs: PPI, cancer drug, thyroid pill (which I can hopefully wean off of when I reach goal) + eleventy billion vitamins/minerals=fair trade!
And here I am as of yesterday. I have a raging cold and feel terrible, still feel MILES better than I did what feels like so very long ago. I'm 56 years old and per my doc and RD I am at "goal weight" at 142lbs. I still want to lose another 7-12 lbs. I don't think I'm at risk of becoming too thin. And I'm pretty sure when all is said and done and maintenance starts, my booty will still be there. LOL. But we'll see what the next 6 months of continued weight loss efforts + exercising/toning bring to the equation.

Today I focus on eating the most nutritionally dense, calorically light (hello, cuz I still want to lose) meals that I can find, with time off for poor choices and bad behavior. I'd say I'm about 95% on plan and 5% forkin' off on average and it fits my life. I'm asked all the time if I have any regrets or if I'm "sad I can't still have such-and-such." But what people don't get is that it isn't about what I can't eat, it's about choosing to not eat in a way that won me a lifetime invitation to the Obesity Ball. I can still eat anything and everything I want and in sufficient quantities to be a danger to myself and small rodents. So from that perspective, nothing changed from pre to post-surgery. I have zero. Repeat. Zero. Regrets.
"No REGERTS" hehe (other than not doing this years ago).
I've had very very minor no complications, and my life is infinitely improved--even with the baggy saggy skin, elephant testicals on my upper thighs, and hairless Sue on my head. Yes there is Hair loss of significant proportions. That's my "pagent hair" I'm wearing. I try to walk 1 hour per day 6-7 days per week and am trying very hard to start toning and building muscle and improving my balance and strength. None of those are my strong suits--I'm not a big exercise fan, but I'm learning to love it and learning new tools/skills to help me maintain this loss and lifestyle for the long term.
I hope this helps lift someone up who might be knee deep in the suck today, and I offer this post as proof that tomorrow DOES come. And it IS a better tomorrow.

I want to thank every VET and Sophomore and person who has helped me along on this journey from fat to fit to fabulous!!! Thank you for your time, patience and answering my millions and billions of questions over this time!!!! And thanks to Alex and his team for building such an incredible site to get and give support where we can also find those things we need to help make our journey easier!!! TY Bariatric Pal. While mine was technically medically necessary, my doctor wanted me to go through their bariatric program so I can learn what life and eating like with RNY. The program was accelerated because my GERD is severe. I began middle of November and was approved 2/1. Surgery is on 3/18. It was worth the wait and I appreciate that they wanted me to be as knowledgeable as possible.

This is my 3rd bariatric surgery. Taking it one day at a time for the pre-op diet is key. Make sure you space out your Protein Shakes equally throughout the day and stay hydrated with Water (crystal light, no sugar drinks) and broth. If you know you have a bad habit of late night eating plan for that by getting to bed early or just keeping busy and preoccupied. Boredom is not your friend during the liquid diet phase. Good luck!!

Every surgery I’ve had the surgical department called the day before with the arrival time and additional details. If surgery is on a Monday, they call on Friday. They might change it, seems like really late in the day. Good luck!

I just had a revision from sleeve to rny on 12/12 due to horrible reflux and barrets esophagus. I started at 180 and have lost 20 pounds.
I had a horrible experience in the hospital and ended up having internal bleeding, needed blood transfusion... my oxygen level drop down to mid 50’s a few times. I stayed in the hospital for 5 days. I’m still quite swollen and bruised so I think I will lose a few more once I’m completely healed.
