My Fellow May Flowers.... HELP!!!
I would go directly to my PCP to make sure it's only a cold. I am recovering from the cold/throat infection thing myself and had to do a round of antibiotics (5 day). My date is not until the 22nd, but I was still pretty nervous about it this time last week. I felt really bad.

May 22nd!!!!
Went to my nutritional class today and I am so pumped. I only have to do clear liquids the day before surgery, but they ask, not require that you control carbs/fat a couple weeks before. The only thing that upset me was no swimming for 4-6 wks. I thought they meant, actually swimming, no they mean no pool for 4-6 wks! Just when it's almost warm enough:cursing:

What Next??!!!??!!
Shawna, girl you are having a rough time! And I thought I had it bad dealing with Neaomi (who everybody else says is great!). I was beginning to think it was a sign. Really. I was so stressed out and angry and I cried and cried. And then, all of a sudden everything was right with the world again. I can certainly understand your frustration. I will do my best to send some positive energy your way :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:!!!!!!! You know, it might not be a bad idea, to fax exactly what you just wrote to Dr. Kim Schmitt (except the last part!). And just for the record, I found Mid-South to be the most disorganized, disinteresed bunch in the whole deal, so I would take what they have say with a grain of salt.

Does it make you CRAZY??
Well, it sounds like you're all set! I do love the Shrinko de Mayo's name! I'm not on any pre-op diet, I guess you're looking at someone elses' ticker, but thanks anyway. I only have to do a two day liquid pre-op, but mostly liquid post op for 4-6 weeks. The forum problems have been driving me nuts, too! At least I have figured out what my new addiction is going to be :w00t: . I was literally MAD for the last couple of days, not able to pull it up.

Here I go!
:wink_smile:A co-worker is having the surgery as well and our husbands have been questioning our mood during the pre/post op liquid diets. I've told them it's probably best just to stay away. Fellow employees I've told, for their own safety, I'm keeping my office door locked. :biggrin2: And WELCOME TO MAY! (We have a May forum, come on over)

Does it make you CRAZY??

May 22nd!!!!
I'm the 22nd too!! I only have to do the liquid diet two days prior, but low fat/low carb two weeks before. However, it's pretty much all liquid for a month after. A girl here in my office is having the surgery as well (May 2) and she had her pre-op visit and nutrition class yesterday. I have been reading all the material they gave her and I'm really ready to go now!

Does it make you CRAZY??
I'm in Sylacauga, just up the road! I think you are probably right about knowing what they're doing. They do this all day long for a lot of people, we just think we're the only ones! What doctor did you settle with?

Does it make you CRAZY??
Congrats!!!! Boy, it's happening so fast, I'm sure your head is spinning. But, it's so exciting! I hope you get to join May Flowers as I did yesterday!

Stupid Sleep Apnea!!!
In my case, I first tried the nasal pillows which were more comfortable, but by morning my nose was all pushed up and HURT for a couple hours. So, I switched to a mask, just to complete the test. It kept me from sleeping soundly. It fit, I just like to sleep on my stomach and just couldn't do it. But, I completed the test and it's now in the closet waiting for surgergy.

Stupid Sleep Apnea!!!
Naps count! Also, it doesn't know if you're sleeping. Use it while you're watching TV. I had the same problem. Just keep thinking of the end result!

It records time used, not time on. In other words, you can't turn it on and walk away.

I haven't been banded yet, Michelle. Should be sometime in May!! Anyway, a CPAP was prescribed and you have to use it for two weeks. It has a data card in it and you send it back to them. You have to have an average of six hours logged for seven days. After that I put the ()&$%(*& back in it's case in the closet, where it will stay until surgery (required for surgery). If I slept on my back I would probably use it, because it is comforting to know you're breathing. But, I sleep on my stomach, so it's kind of awkward and I don't sleep well with it.

I didn't think I had sleep apnea either. I sleep like a baby. Evidently, I actually stop breathing A LOT and was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. I'm glad I know this before going under anesthesia and that weight loss should correct it. I wouldn't think where the records came from would be an issue. I assume different doctors are signing off each visit? Now, if you were having to go through the six month stipulation, you would have to be under one docotor's care.

BCBS of alabama Psychologist visit denied?
The lady in my office who is also having lap band surgergy was referred to a psyc by our doctor (Schmitt), who was not in the preferred network, but she was able to choose another doctor who was.

The ENT Dr. Schmitt recommends for the sleep study, is his sister, Dr. Kim Schmitt. Her office and the room where they do the sleep study is there at St. Vincent's East. I had my appointment with her within days of my first consult and the study the next week. - New to the bama forum
