tran got a reaction from vbrewer82 in Pompeii Surgical
It was overwhelming at first. I flew in the day of surgery, got picked up in San Diego, drove to the clinic and immediately started filling out paperwork. I also met with Dr. Quinones before surgery, he speaks perfect English, and answered all of my last minute questions. Unfortunately, my surgery was the last one of the day since I arrived last, so I had a bit of a wait until they got me for surgery. I could have used someone to help calm my nerves. The entire staff was kind, and they always have a translator there, 24/7. My first 24 hrs after surgery was not great. I was constantly nauseated. And I was second guessing my decision. I didn't feel hardly any pain, but that nausea was too much. Turns out, they had me on narcotics for pain and an anti-nausea. Once I realized what they had me on, I asked them to stop the pain meds and only give me anti-nausea. I had a complete turn around after that. I was able to walk around a lot more and even felt up to talking to the other patients. I was able to laugh and smile again, so then I knew everything was going to be alright. My surgery was Nov 21, 2016. I am doing well. Other than how little I eat, I have no other indicators or issues I had surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Q and his staff.

I did it by myself in Tijuana, Pompeii Surgical. It was a bit different, but the staff was great, very friendly, and they always had a translator available for a couple of the nurses. It can be a tad scary just because I couldn't speak their language. The doctor spoke perfect English, so that put me at ease. I questioned some of their nurse practices because they weren't the same as here.
Get off the pain meds as quickly as possible. I was on narcotics and anti-nausea, but the anti-nausea didn't work while I was on narcotics for pain. I asked them to withhold the pain meds and the nausea went away very quickly. I felt very good after that. I haven't had to take any pain meds since. One of the gals there the same day as me was off pain meds 4 hrs after surgery, her recovery went better than mine sine she went off the pain meds so much sooner.
I would suggest you bond very quickly with one of the other patients there so you can be each other's support. Good luck and speedy recovery!

I would check with the surgeon. I've noticed tail bone pain and I think it's because my butt is smaller and I don't have that cushion anymore. Lol. I plan on talking to my surgeon at next month's appointment.

The one thing that I can think of is your body is adjusting to the weight loss so it could actually be your pelvis shifting... Have you talked to your doctor about it? I know that now that I've lost weight I've noticed my hips "click" a lot more than they did before... it has to adjust like everything else because of the weight change.
I hope it gets better! Keep us posted!

Good morning. I have a question about some pain I have on the back side of my pelvis, both sides. It seems it is deep, coming from the bone itself. I don't recall doing anything to cause it. I first noticed it two nights ago when I was trying to sleep on my sides. Now I notice it just sitting. Anyone else experience this? I've lost just over 30 pounds but I have plenty of junk in the trunk as a cushion.

    Hello All,
I just want to say thank you for all your input, and support and love.
    I really appreciate it.
I had joined a different weight loss and bariatric surgery forum a while back and didn't have a good experience.
I poured my heart out in a post, crying out for help, even mentioned that I was suicidal because of my weight.
I only received spam replies and a reply from someone offering to do hypnosis with me for a fee.
Needless to say I was thoroughly disappointed.
My experience here has been great and I appreciate you all.

Yeah... and I meant stalking sites not people... perusing threads and post, extracting useful information. That's all. Had I stumbled upon any of these testy post-op threads, I might have reconsidered my decision to join.. too late now. I sort of enjoy being here..
Ps: There are tons of resources out there that people can be directed to.
That is another way of helping..

LoL.. it's not name calling.. to use an often bandided phrase here, it's "telling it like it is" Did I claim to be a veteran? That was why I left a disclaimer in my post. Not once did I claim I was a 'vet'.
I was more concerned with why instead of telling someone with a genuine question proper advice, all you were doing was claiming that the vets are gone or going. Didn't my advice turn out to be true?
I never try to make peoples threads about me or someone else. I just try to help and move on.
Anyway... nothing more to say here. Clearly something else is bothering you.
Perhaps a new thread may provide a medium for other people to be of some assistance.
    Have a pleasant evening..

I will not miss being scared to take a nap for fear the whole house will hear me snoring. I will not miss the pain that came from walking out my house to my car (the less then a 1 minute Walk ) I say dear friend you did not do me well at all so i bid farewell to the 400s and i say to the 300s don't get comfortable i've started the eviction paperwork on you for you must leave me soon as well!!!!

I hate to tell my numbers because too many people do not understand. I will share them with you (and obviously anyone who reads this). My surgery was last Monday. My starting weight was 190, my pre-surgery weight (after 2 week liquid diet to shrink liver) was 180. I have not weighed myself since Friday, at that time I was 178. I know the numbers seem low, but I am only 4'10". The less weight you have to lose, the slower it comes off. According to some charts, it will take me 18 months to get to my goal weight. The decision is hard, don't let anyone else make it for you. Good luck! Sent from my SM-T817V using the BariatricPal App

Perhaps you could restart by going on a two-week liquid diet. Protein shakes would be good for that. The best Protein source I know is chicken breast. Four ounces (about 113 grams) of chicken breast has 32 grams of protein. If you ate that, or something similar, twice a day, you would be very close to your protein goal of 70 to 90 grams.
Have beef or turkey Jerky and cans or pouches of tuna or chicken stashed in your purse or car. Also, hard-boiled eggs make a nice snack.
For Breakfast, Greek yogurt is really tasty and the kind I get has 12 grams of protein per serving. Two scrambled eggs will get you about 14 grams of protein.
Make sure you stop eating carbs like bread, Pasta, rice, and anything with sugar in it. Always eat your protein first, followed by vegetables and fruits.
Last thing, be sure you are consuming 64 ounces (about 2 liters) of Water daily. Protein and Water, protein and water, protein and water. It's becoming my mantra!
    Good luck!

Have you tried taking lactaid pills? They're sold over the counter and work for some folks, but not everyone. You could also try asking your doctor for a prescription version. I don't actually know, but they may be stronger than the over-the-counter ones. My surgeon's physician's assistant told me she frequently prescribes this for people after surgery and said if I continue having tolerance issues with the dairy that she'd write one up for me. If you haven't, I'd try those two things. If you've already been down that path, please disregard haha.

This afternoon Mrs. LittleBill and I hauled ourselves off to the grocery store to procure victuals for the coming days. Sunday afternoons are always an adventure. The store is stuffed with high energy professionals, harried mothers herding small children, and a few geezers thrown in to make it all interesting. We like to forego the list. It helps with exercise. "Oh, we forgot this" adds to the step count since "this" is always at the other end of the store. It only ceases to be amusing when "this" is not discovered until we are home in the driveway, and I am sent back to find it.
Dodging the other customers sort of makes the event into a cross between Mad Max and The Running Man. Today was particularly interesting as there was a small skinny woman there who seemed to think that this was the perfect opportunity to get her power walking in while pushing a grocery cart that weighed approximately three times what she did. I got the impression that she paid no attention to the teacher when she took physics in high school. She did a great job getting her cart up to speed, but look out for those turns!
Probably the best part of the trip was watching the little girl who was about three years old take off her boots and proceed to run around loose and barefoot. Her horrified mother enlisted her older sister to help run her down, but she was like a greased pig when they tried to hold her down and get her boots back on. Since I have been promoted to Grandpa, I can stand back and laugh quietly. Both of the girls saw me watching. The barefoot one had a positively demonic grin on her face. When her older sister saw me smiling, she let loose with a giggle of her own. We survived the adventure though, and returned home with some new foods to try out that are low fat or at least low carb.

I had the surgery and was by myself for 4 days at the hospital. The first 36 hours, I was feeling regret because of the pain and nausea. I wasn't able to distract myself at all since the nausea made it impossible for me to even watch TV. I think having someone there who is willing to sacrifice some sleep for your mental well-being would be a good thing. The good news is, as soon as I was off the narcotics for pain, my nausea went away and I was a completely different patient. Just my own personal experience. Good luck to you!

I agree with a lot of your sentiment, but let me make one thing perfectly clear.
Most people who have skin surgery after WLS are NOT doing it out of vanity, but out of necessity due to infections and the skin just being a hindrance in functioning normally. So to say it's 'vain' to have surgery to remove skin after WLS is insulting and frankly quite ignorant.
And even if it's done out of vanity, so what? People feel amazing after large losses, and they want to feel even more amazing and have things tightened up and removed. That's their prerogative. And did you know that statistically people are more likely to keep the weight off after having plastic surgery?
