Nutritionist/Support group in Dallas area?
Ruthie, Dr Jayaseelan has a support group that meets at Medical City Dallas once a month on the first Thursday (I believe). Check on it on his website www.texaslapbandcenter.com or call his office 972-763-0033. Medical City Dallas is at Central Expressway and Forrest Lane, just south of the High Five.

Pre-Op Liquid Test Diet
Think of it as a sort of rebirth, huh? An infant goes from breast milk or formula to strained peas and pureed carrots to mushy foods to solids. Same as someone getting their band.

New Member
Monymo, what was your first Non-scale victory (NSV)? What has been your GREATEST NSV? Are you still losing? Any major problems? Do you have any before and after pictures?

New to forum - surgery date 2/6/06
I can assure you that this is the place to get all the information you can stand. These folks are awesome....and I'm not the one that got banded. It was my DW (darling wife). Good luck on the 6th.

Leatha_G Reporting in..
Leatha, I feel your pain, I've been nursing my own sore throat for about a week and hoping that I don't pass it on to MsJoy. She's 9 days post-op and I don't think she needs it. But I must say, I do miss kissing her.:cry

OT!! Cost of wedding photos
Michelle, I've done close to a dozen weddings. All of the group shots. Candids. Portraits. The last one, I shot about 8 rolls of 36. We (MsJoy and I) had them all developed, putting the good shots in an album that we purchased and then gifting all the prints and negatives to the bride and groom. If I had to put a price to it all.......$500 to $1000 would have been reasonable. Just remember, anybody's camera or film can go bad and you'll get zilch.

Thought You Might Find This Worth a Laugh
One afternoon the pastor came to call on her and she showed him into her quaint sitting room. She invited him to have a seat while she prepared tea. As he sat facing her old Hammond organ, the young minister noticed a cut-glass bowl sitting on top of it. The bowl was filled with water, and in the water floated, of all things, a condom! When she returned with tea and scones, they began to chat. The pastor tried to stifle his curiosity about the bowl of water and its strange floater, but soon it got the better of him and he could no longer resist. "Miss Beatrice", he said, "I wonder if you would tell me about this?"pointing to the bowl. "Oh, yes," she replied, "Isn't it wonderful? I was walking through the park a few months ago and I found this little package on the ground. The directions said to place it on the organ, keep it wet and that it would prevent the spread of disease. Do you know I haven't had the flu all winter?"

Weird question about surgery
You have to go to the bottom to make a reply....LOL

waiting and a little scared
Oh...and they had her take her blood pressure meds before surgery.

waiting and a little scared
Jamoorse, MsJoy, my DW, had her surgery done by Dr. Jay on the 28th of Dec. They came and got her while she was in recovery and took her down to radiology for the barium swallow. She says that it really wasn't anything. A couple of swallows, not really any kind of taste. A couple of x-rays and she was out of there. The liquid pre-op diet ain't nothin' either. I read on here yesterday, think of the diets that you have tried for YEARS. This is only for 7 days. MsJoy says just keep your tummy occupied with something...water, juice (non-acidic), gatorade, crystal light, broth, coffee...whatever. She too, is a diet coke addict and she had NO withdrawals or headaches. You'll do great!

I have a new date!
I would suggest the in-network hospital. The frequency of the doctor's surgeries shouldn't have anything to do with the staff. As far as paying for it, the in-network facility will get more from the insurance company and reduce your part.

Banded Bikers?
Celeste, we were talking amongst ourselves out at work the other night and the general concensus was, do it while you are young and not deeply invested in your pension. As for myself??? There are way too many roads to ride here in the good ol' USofA to be trooping off to the other end of the world. Hmmmmmm, you really do have a lot of thinking to do.....

My turn front & center...
Janet, welcome to you and Mr Janet. I'm the DH to MsJoy who was banded on Dec 28th of 05. She's one week post-op.

introductions
Hi Criss, how are things in the frozen north. We've been getting highs in the 70's down here in Texas. I think I'll go for a motorcycle ride. How about you, Betty?

Banded Bikers?
Sunni, as I told the DW, at 70 mph all a helmet will do is keep most of my head in one place, should I have an accident. But at 35 or 40, it might save my life. I always wear one.

Banded Bikers?
Eileen, what do you think the DH would have to say about his Harley Mama? *grin* And I think that would be an AWESOME goal reward...
-
Banded Bikers?
OK Sunni, we're waiting.....
-
hi fellow banders
Welcome Georgia, and congratulations. Many happy losses to you!!!

Back to being good...
Eileen, I ain't gonna tough that one....LOL Carrie, congratulations on making it through the holidays. I can't believe that my DW (the pecan pie queen) made it through without ANY solid food. One week out, one week till her first Dr follow-up.

Dr. Jayaseelan?
DiDi, MsJoy says she made sure that she kept herself "full". Don't let your tummy start grumbling. She was afraid of the headaches and getting the shakes, but she didn't have any of those things.

How are recently banded doing?
GloryRain, the thing is, until you have a fill you have absolutely NO RESTRICTION. You may have had a little swelling from the surgery, and yes, the band is around your stomach, but it's about as tight as a hoola-hoop would be. Until they start filling it, it is just THERE. Once the swelling has gone down you could pretty much eat as you did before the surgery.
