  1. And her birthday is the 29th...hehehe. No, I won't be wrapping soup. I don't need a black eye :-)

We live in a little bitty town about halfway between Houston and Dallas.

You're both right...I'm from southeast Texas! Actually, I was thinking of having her a nice comfy pillow and maybe an air mattress in the back of the Explorer. She could climb in and nap all the way home. What do you think?
  4. Regina, from what I've been able to learn, once you have your insurance company's approval for the surgery, you can go to whatever doctor YOU choose. It's YOUR choice! Get on that phone and call around. Tell them you have your insurance approval and you need this done before the end of the year. I'll bet you will be surprised.

Works for me, we'll have a two hour drive to get back home. I guess I can tie her over the front fender like a field dressed deer. What do you think? *grin*
  6. Welcome Viridescence, believe me, if you have a question about anything (and I mean anything) these fine folks will have the answer or they know how to get it for you.
  7. OMG, and you've only been banded since May? YGG ! But who's the lady in the blue blouse? *grin*
  8. Bonnie, can I be blunt? You and your man have worked hard for a long time to give your family many, many things....so the heck with your daughter's new car. Used cars drive just as well. You owe it to yourself! She can get one the same way you got your first one, work for it. Then you can slide the new you into the passenger seat and tell her to take you for a spin (insert ear plugs, adjust DARK sunglasses, close eyes) Good luck, hon.
  9. Healthy4Life, congratulations! Many happy loses! And I love them, too. Mine's a '98 RoadKing Classic
  10. Teresa and Healthy4life, how did it all go? I would imagine you are a bit sore but you've got to keep us up to date. My wife is going in on the 28th and I need to know what to expect. And why is everyone hurting in their left shoulder? What if you lay on your left side with your right side up? *grin*

Spydr, MsJoy has her date, Dec 28th at 7:15 am at Pine Creek Medical Center, out off of Harry Hines. She did the stress test today and everything was fine, cleared for surgery.
  12. OK, back home. Stress test went fine and she was cleared for surgery. Dr. Gopal did put her on some free samples for high blood pressure. Went to Dr J's office and they took us back and scheduled the surgery for Dec 28th at 7:15 am. WoooHoooo! I'm more excited about it than she is, I think.
  13. 9 days?!?! Wow! That's got to be some kind of a record. After everything I'd read about BCBS I was expecting an approval some time next year. When did you get banded?
  14. I think I've got this figured out now. *tongue in cheek* It's like the new crack, right? All these people hanging out saying, "I need a fill, man" LOL On the serious side, Kim, you've got it headed in the right direction and Angie, 40 ain't nothin' to sniff at. Here's hoping you achieve your dream and more.
  15. My wife submitted her surgery request to BCBS of Texas along with supporting documentation from our PCP, lab work and Dr. Jayaseelan's recommendation and she was approved with ne'er a whisper. I'm still pinching myself...

Dr J seems to be a popular guy in the Dallas area right about now. MsJoy (my wife) is going in for her stress test tomorrow (12-15) and if that is good, Dr J's scheduler has her penciled in for the 28th. Dr J was really nice and his PA, Arlene (I think) was fantastic. She and I got into a "discussion" about doing hernia surgery at the same time as the lap band...LOL
  17. Hey Jack, thanks. MsJoy is obsessing right now over not passing the stress test, then catching a cold (you've never seen anyone with hands that clean) and not being able to have surgery. She's also not looking forward to being on a liquid diet through Christmas (she's the pecan pie queen...mmmmm mmmmm good pie). And that's a good idea about the pictures, I'll get started with them.
  18. And Shirley, I enjoyed the trip thru your webpage and your blog...but you really need to add some more to it. I was ready to go out and kick some doctor butt. All you had to do was point me in the right direction.....hehehe
  19. So Kathy, are you saying that I will have to let her suffer a little to learn what she can and can't do?
  20. Cheri, Tina and Cindy, thank you all. Tina, if that's all she has to do, this is going to be a SHORT stress test.....LOL All I know is that I want her around for the rest of my life and this seems to be a great tool to help ensure that happening. Do any of you think I should go out and buy some of those "socker bopper" things? *mischevious grin*
  21. MsJoy has her stress test tomorrow at Dr Gopal's office. Just down the hall from Dr J's office. What should we expect during the test?
  22. Cheri, I just saw that you are 2 days older than my wife. An early Happy Birthday! Where are you a Cafeteria manager?
  23. Not to mention Pre-Menapausal Syndrome....FOCL
  24. ROFL....didn't you see? I've been married 30 years! I've got that response down pat.
