Prednisone and weight gain
I had to take prednisone for about a month on two seperate incidents and I gained about 10 pounds each time. The weight did not just come off once I stopped the prednisone I had to start over and work it off again.

Any others with a BROKEN BAND???
Hi my Inamed band tubing also came apart after one year. I am going in for repair surgery on 3/12/09. My insurance is covering the repair. since my tubing came apart I have sudden onsets of severe sharp pains in my lower abdomen. I have been checked out by my family med. dr. and my gynecologist and they found nothing else wrong with me so I am assuming this pain is coming from the band tubing that is just dangling inside of me.

Lap band erosion
How common is it that the tubing from the port to the band becomes unconnected, and if it does become unconnected is can it just be repaired, without removal. I have had my band for about a year, and had a splenectomy on 1/15/09. I went in for a fill today and the surgeon told me the tubing had become disconnected but he could fix it. This is the same doctor that did my splenectomy a few weeks ago. I have been experiencing a lot of lower abdominal pain and had seen my family physican and gynecologist. Now I am wondering if this pain could be coming from these two ends just dangling inside me. Prior to the splenectomy I had a lot of restriction and noticed an immediate change in restriction right after surgery, so I feel this is a problem the surgeon created but now I have to pay again to have it fixed.

How much so far??
Hi all I was banded 1/29/08 and it has been hard losing the weight.I My last fill was in August. I have 9cc's in a a 10 cc band and I have only lost about 18 pounds. I feel I have good restriction as there are things I have a hard time eating and can tell a difference I also walk 2-4 miles 4 times weekly. All that said I would still have the surgery over again.

Does Anyone Know About MUSC's New Program?
Hi I was banded in Conway SC. There was a good doctor there named Dr. David Anderson I here he is in Greenville now. I don't think he's doing band surgeries there but I heard he was doing fills. I found him on the internet and the number to his new office is Carolina Surgical Associates 864-233-4349. You can give him a call let me know if he is indeed doing the fills as I am considering changing doctors.

Haven't told my hubby :-(
Hi heidib I have been over weight all my life. My husband never once every said to me I needed to lose weight, if I ever asked him if he thought I was fat he would always say "listen I will love you if you get as big as a house" when it came to being banded he was very supportive and very interested and went with me to my doctors appointments and took care of me after surgery. I too have children 4 girls ages 15, 13, 9, 4 and like you I did not want to send the wrong message and did not and still have not told them I had wls. banded 2/28/08

PB with Choking... couldn't breath!!
I think that it was a normal PB experience I was banded on 2/28/08, and had my first PB on this past Sunday I was eating meat loaf of all things. I had taken a small bite and I guess it got stuck I couldn't talk and felt like my chest was going to burst. It wouldn't go down or come up on its own. I know you should avoid vomitting and this was the first time I had ever did this but the only way I got relief was to stick my finger down my throat and induce vomitting I felt better but felt sore.

Looking for Dr. David G. Anderson in SC
Hi everyone, I am looking for a fill doctor in NC or SC. I was banded in Conway SC on 2/28/08. My doctor charges $400.00 per fill and it is getting pretty expensive. He used to a have a partner that everyone says was great named Dr. David G. Anderson. I hear he is in Greenville SC and is doing fills but I have been unable to locate him. So if anyone knows a doctor willing to do fills or if anyone knows where to find Dr. David G. Anderson please let me know. Thanks

BMI boderline BCBC of NC
Iwish you the best with BCBS state health plan. They too denied me for lap band because my bmi exceeded 50. I was lucky though I had double coverage with the NC teachers and state employees health plan that approved the surgery. So rather than file an appeal because I knew the NC teachers and state employees plan was being discontinued in July 2008 I had surgery on 2/28/08 with only one insurance to pay on the claims. What is so strange is that both plans are administered by BCBS.

how long in the hospital?
Hi, I was banded on2/28/08 and stayed in the hospital overnight. I could have went home the same day but the anesthesia really put me under I was so sleepy I couldn't get up to move around. I was in a lot of pain and was glad I did stay overnight because I was able to get the pain meds I needed, and don't even think about driving yourself home the day of surgery or even the next day. Just relax and take it easy.
