So I am just about a year out since my surgery. Had it on May 23rd of 2016.
Far and away I can say this was the BEST decision that I have ever made in my life. My highest weight was 433 lbs with my surgery weight at 397 lbs. Proud to say just about a year after surgery I currently weigh 194 pounds. 203 pounds down since the surgery and 241 down overall.
I literally cannot even tell you how much this has changed my life for the better. I am posting this because I want everyone to know that if I did it you can too. If anyone has literally any questions at all for me please don't hesitate to reach out. I

Coke zero still contains aspertame, and a whole host of chemical additives. Do not be decieved about the dangers of those chemicals in your body. Would you drink a glass of Water if I put just 1% of battery acid in it ?Just a thought.
Also much congratulations on your weight loss! That is great! I know that took hard work!

I am am posting this in hopes of helping everyone who has a diet soda addiction. I know its hard to break any addiction as I myself am working through a sugar addiction. I have broken the soda and fast food addiction over the last few years so believe me I inow the addiction is real. But you can do it if you arm yourself with some information about the foods and drinks we consume that are truly harmful for us. Knowledge is power and I want all of you to feel powerful and strong as you embark into a new food lifestyle.
First, if you have Netflix, look up these movies and watch them over and over. "HUNGRY FOR CHANGE" & " FOOD MATTERS" . They will also lead you to other movies about food that can change how you view the foods you eat. I truly believe that actually knowing what you are eating makes it easier NOT to put it in your mouth in the first place.
Diet sodas are a cocktail of chemicals that destroy your body all the while wanting you to believe they are safe and healthy to drink. You can actually CLEAN YOUR TOILET with coke products. Try it then think about putting it in your body.
Fast food is not real food. Go buy a mcdonalds burger, your favorite and place it on your counter and wait for it to spoil. It wont. It will not break down because it is not real food. Would you really want to eat something that isnt real food? These small thought process changes really do help you change your perceptions of food. And if we can change our perception ,we can change our life. That is a fact in every aspect of life.
We have all embarked upon a journey of serious body modification (surgical intervention) to make a real change in our lives. To bring health and wellness and true changes to ourselves. Our bodies are becoming temples. Bring your spirit into this journey as well. Learn about the nasty, foul, and disgusting items out there that are not real food. See them for the demons they are and do not allow them into the temple you are building.
I wish all of you success and I look forward to seeing you all someday on the losers bench.

Nothing. I didn't drastically alter my anatomy and physiology to see how much I can cheat. Eating poorly was how I got fat. Why would I have surgery and still do the things that made me fat in the first place? Besides... there's nothing I am forbidden- but I know how not to eat!

Absolutely nothing. I would not sabotage my journey or my progress for any food or drink. Food is fuel to me; that is all.

Fellow sleevers unite! I remember you all, surfing through these forums for hours worried about my surgery but excited for the potential health and physical change. Now I'm on the other side almost 5 months out and want to share my story with those that are waiting in anticipation or a few days out wondering whats next. I was sleeved on 09/29/2017. At my surgery I weight 363 and my weight when I started the liquid diet was 380.4. I think I ended up topping out somewhere around 387 in the days or weeks before the liquid diet. As of this morning I weight 273.8. So roughly 107 lbs in 5 months. I'll take it! Size wise I am currently a 38 waist, and XXL top. I was a 46/48 waist and 4XL a few short months ago. My overall goal is 225 (I'm 6'2). Here is my lame attempt at a Letterman style top ten list but backwards. Time flies, enjoy the ride, and the compliments

Losing weight is cool. Growing saggy man skin tits not.
Pretty Pimpin’ by Kurt Vile is on my sleeve journey mix tape.
Its great being able to sit in a chair and not worry about breaking it.
I used to love Soup. That was before eating it everyday for 4 weeks.
Only fat people wear fitbits. I wore mine, and it was stupid. I've never seen any active person actually wearing one. I probably exercise more without it.
You can weigh yourself everyday. I did, its OK. First thing in the morning, post dump, post shower. I’m suprised I haven’t gone through a costco size pack of AA batteries.
Levi’s that aren’t loose or baggy fit = AWESOME!
I am no longer that fattest person everywhere I go, There are a crapload fatter than me.....I know as I just got back from Disney.
Sex gets better with every 20 lbs.
    Holy shit, I’m not sweating!

We aren't allowed to go ketogenic eating. I wasn't given any indicator for how many calories or carbs I should be at. Only a Protein and hydration goal. Now that I'm almost four weeks out.. I'm under 100 carbs a day (increased now that I am on puree). Our program believes in balanced eating focusing on protein, veggies and starches last if there is room. Our meals should include 3 food groups (including grains).

I could have written Mylighthouse's post. My NUT says 50 but my body says 40.
I hit a very long plateau (five weeks) and weighed today, down 2 lbs. I was VERY strict about carbs (35-40; too few isn't good either) and upped my Protein. That seemed to work. Finally.

I think it differs from person to person. My nutritionist told me to go with 50 carbs a day, but when I was going that high, I couldn't lose any weight. I brought it down to under 40 grams a day and I started dropping pounds.

You look fantastic. Keep up the good work.

I noticed a slow down at 5 months. I stall, then a few pounds fall off, then I stall again for awhile. I do notice loss in inches/clothing sizes during the stalls. Upping my Protein helped and going to the gym regularly really helped me too. Even just walking on the treadmill helped.

I was sleeved on Oct 25th, Pre-surgery weight 304lbs , surgery weight 292lbs. and current weight is 247lbs.
In the beginning the weight came off fast, but as time has went on I have had a few stalls, and the weight is coming off very slow now, like a pound or two a week? YES its still a loss and I am very happy, but my question is it normal for weight loss to start slowing down as time goes on?

I was sleeved 10/24 ...my weight slowed down to almost none the past two weeks. Sw235 Cw185. I started boot camp two weeks ago. So maybe just gaining muscle. I use GENEPRO for most of my Protein intake since I can't stand shakes. I think we need to start paying more attention to our inches lost at this point.

It sounds to me like you are pretty much on track. I have weeks where i lose one, then none, then suddenly 5 drop off. Just keep working on your Protein and liquids and it will all turn out. Every loss is a win, and anytime you stall and don't gain it's still a win. Hang in there!

What specific struggle are you having getting in your Protein and Water now? You should be fully healed up. Is it still too much restriction? Some sort of negative physical reaction?

A pound or two a week is honestly pretty great; I don't think that's off from 'normal' at all. I was sleeved 11/14, and that's about what I do as well~ I'd say I lose maybe 10 pounds a month? Which isn't bad AT ALL...

I agree with what everyone is saying about not comparing yourself to others as it can be a recipe for disaster. However, I would also like to add that it was EXTREMELY helpful to me to see threads like this pre-op. Like many, I was anxious about the surgery, the results and what to expect.
I definitely sought out these types of threads, and the more people that posted their results, the better, as I was looking to see a wide range of results to get a feel for what might happen.
After reading dozens of these threads it seemed like most people lost around 10-25lbs a month. Men and people with higher BMIs generally lost the fastest, and the weight loss tapers off as the months go by.
For me, it wasn't so much a comparison as it was an exercise in gaining perspective.

Please please please please please DO NOT compare your rate of loss to others. It is a recipe for misery and disaster. You will only spend all of your days hating yourself and questioning all of your actions, wondering "what am I doing wrong?!?!?" It's miserable and completely pointless. There is no reason you have to lose your weight *quickly* post-op. Your sleeve is forever. You will have PLENTY of time to lose the weight. And once you have lost the weight and reached your goal, how long it took you to get there will be completely meaningless. I was a "slow" loser by everyone's definition.
I "only" lost 15 pounds the first month. I "only" lost 8 pounds the second month. I "only" lost about 6 pounds per month the next five months. I "only" lost 2-3 pounds per month for a while after that. You know where all of those "onlys" got me? To goal! Where I have been happily maintaining for well over a year. In the end, how fast you reach goal is completely insignificant.
