DaleCruse got a reaction from eso0402 in 8 days post HELP ME PLEASE
First, I'm sorry this is happening to you.
There's no need to be paranoid. That won't help you heal.
What's happening is food/liquid is coming in contact with that part of your stomach that's been cut. Nerves are firing. It doesn't feel good. I've never met a WLS patient this didn't happen to.
I hope you feel better soon. Good luck. You are not alone.

I bought all the tools, read everything I could, & thought I was prepared for everything. I wasn't.
You know what surprised me? How difficult it would be to get in enough Water. My advice? Put your credit card away. Turn from focusing on the external to focusing on the internal. Prepare yourself to work on getting in enough water after surgery.
Good luck. You are not alone.

It's perfectly understandable you're getting hit with a bundle of emotions all at once. You just permanently altered your body. This IS emotional. And you know what? I don't know anybody who's had WLS who didn't suddenly feel overwhelmed post surgery. You're going to get through this. You are not alone.
As @allwet said, there's no feed you can't enjoy again over time. Maybe you'll eat your favorites a little less or more infrequently. But rather than focus on what you've lost, focus on what you've gained. There may be new foods just waiting for you to discover & love!
    Good luck!

DaleCruse got a reaction from Orchids&Dragons in Should I buy the tickets?...
I agree with having an exit plan. Make sure everyone you go with knows your situation & will be understanding if you feel the need to leave early if you're uncomfortable. Don't be a hero: If you need to leave, leave! Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Sounds like you're doing well so far. In my experience, we're all unique and comparing our own results with other people's just makes us unhappy. There are so many variables that affect the speed of weight loss including starting weight, gender, muscle mass, age, activity level, metabolism, hormones, etc. Good luck at your appointment!

That probably refers to a three-month supervised weight loss program. Some insurance companies require six months. It *appears* your insurance only requires three months. Lucky you!

If you want to cry, cry! You just permanently altered your body. You just forever changed your relationship with food. You're changing the person you see in the mirror. I know I cried too. You are not alone.

Many people who have battled weight for a long time don't recognize themselves in the mirror after they've lost a significant amount of weight.
Others of us are the opposite: For those who haven't battled weight for a long time, when we gain a lot of weight, we don't recognize ourselves anymore. That's one motivator for pursuing surgery! Then, when we do lose a lot of weight, we start recognizing ourselves in the mirror again.
No matter which group you fall into, you are not alone.
    Good luck.

First, thanks for your service. I too am a military veteran who's struggled with weight for a long time.
Second, that's so not cool that your psych eval went that way. I'm so sorry that happened to you. You don't deserve it.
If that psychiatrist told you she didn't want your kid coming to her office one day, she put her needs ahead of yours. That's so not cool.
Get a second opinion. A third opinion if necessary.
Good luck. You are not alone.

If you lost 13lb in the first week, I'm not surprised your body has slowed your metabolism down & you aren't losing in the second week. NONE of that means you're not going to lose weight after you have the sleeve! Good luck! You are not alone!

DaleCruse got a reaction from jrsone in Have you lost as much and as quickly as you thought you would after surgery?
As @Sprinkles1 said, losing 40 pounds in less than a month is amazing! Congratulate yourself! When you're done patting yourself on the back, the next thing to do is leave your assumptions behind! I doubt you put on 40 pounds in less than a month, so be happy you've lost 40 pounds in less than a month! Good luck! You are not alone.

Take this time to address your anxiety. Therapists, meditation, articles, books, possibly medication.
Your profile says you life in California, like I do. Marijuana is legal here & has helped with my anxiety & PTSD tremendously. I don't want to make this a post about pot - I'm just pointing out you have options.
Good luck. You are not alone.
