    I'm glad you're feeling better.
It's not true that you have no one to support you. You have us. And believe me, we're a lot.
It's true that weight loss surgery sucks. But you know what sucks more? Not being able to walk up stairs. Not fitting in airplane seats. Not fitting in a restaurant booth. Not being able to be as physically intimate as we'd like to be. Not being able to walk into a store & buy clothes. Getting stared at. Having people make comments. To me, those are all way worse.
You are not alone. Good luck!

Watching this thread closely. I was sleeved 3.5 years ago & have regained more than I'd like.

It's great that you're being proactive getting your questions together. Since you're already doing that, my advice is to keep your ears wide open. Listen not only to the answers you get, but also the questions & answers the doctors & other patients have. Be open & you'll learn something you didn't know you didn't know or at least develop empathy to understand what others are going through. You are not alone. Good luck!

I don't know anyone who's had WLS who HASN'T been nervous at some point. You're about to alter your body forever. But rather than freaking out about complications that haven't happened yet, what if you put your focus on the fact that complications WILL happen if you DON'T have weight loss surgery? Take your same mental energy, focus it differently, & you'll achieve a different outcome. Good luck. You are not alone.

You overate two days in a row. Forgive yourself but don't overeat a third day in a row. Course correct. You're making so much progress! Good luck. You are not alone.

I bought a bunch of those Gas-X strips but didn't need them. That'll vary person to person, though. Good luck!

You're at one of the hardest points in your journey. Know that every single one of us who've already had WLS has been there too. Some had an easier time than others, but we've all been there. You're going to make it through this, just like the rest of us. Good luck. You are not alone.

You lost 51 lbs in four months? That's great! Congratulations!
You didn't gain all your weight overnight so you're not going to lose it all overnight either.
Good luck! You are not alone!

You told everyone about your surgery, which I think is great. By doing that, you controlled your narrative. But now everyone's asking you about it & it's bugging you. What do you do about it? The same thing you did the first time: Control your own narrative. Tell people what you want them to say to you. Teach them to be supportive but not invasive. You did this once & you can do it again! Good luck. You are not alone.

If your insurance company requires a six month supervised weight loss, you may have to do that. If your surgical team found any abnormalities, you may have to deal with whatever that is. Even if you don't have a supervised weight loss time or complications, you're still at the mercy of your surgeon's calendar. How long you have to wait may depend on how many other people your surgeon already has scheduled. Good luck!

It's okay to be scared. That's natural. I know I was so scared that I was going to die on the operating table. Both of my parents died as a result of surgeries & I was convinced I would too. I brought my concern to my surgical team & they were wonderful about handling the situation. They talked me through understanding that my parents died more than 15 years ago & had undergone life saving surgeries. We're more medically advanced than ever & WLS is elective surgery. Anyway, take your concerns to your surgical team too. Know that you are not alone.

I was an irritable mess for the first few days after surgery. The pain medication made me super grumpy at everything. Since I was lucky & didn't have much pain, I weaned myself off those meds asap. That helped me. Good luck to you. You are not alone.

I'm sorry this is happening to you. You don't deserve it. Remember your PCP is just one voice among many. If this person won't give you the support you need, you need to find another route. Talk to your surgical team about what your PCP said. I bet this isn't the first time they've dealt with this. In fact, they may know alternate routes for you. Good luck. You are not alone.

Have you considered that your greatest strength (the ability to control outcomes) has become your greatest weakness (nearly paralyzing you from taking positive action)?
I say this only because I recognize it's the same situation for me.

These are all good questions. Please talk with your psychiatrist about them. Consider framing the discussion as you wanting to have surgery and asking that person how they can help you succeed. Discussing it that way puts the onus on your psychiatrist to help you rather than you asking that person if it's okay to have the surgery. It's a subtle distinction and I hope it serves you well! Let us know how it goes!
