  1. My mouth is always dry too. I had surgery Nov 9th. I think the Protein shakes make it so much worse. Only thing that helps me is sugar free Popsicles. I have biotene but that does nothing for me. salad is a raw vegetable. I miss salads too. I am eating well cooked vegetables now though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I am allowed gum I have to chew it for a few seconds to get the nasty Protein taste out of my mouth after I eat. That is about all I do. I think some advise against it because it stimulates acid in your stomach. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Look at the diseases from obesity. They have higher stats than those most likely. He is concerned for you. But ultimately you have to live with the choice. Every surgery has possible consequences. Good luck with your decision. Talk to your Dr about your concern. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I was allowed regular coffee right away. Is there a reason for not allowing it? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. SEE THE ONLY READY MADE DRINK I FOUND THAT DIDNT HAVE A BAD AFTER TASTE OR GROSSED ME OUT WAS PREMIER PROTIEN. AND THEY HAVE 4 DIFFERENT FLAVORS. i DONT THINK I WAS EVER TOLD TO KEEP MY PROTIEN DRINK UNDER 30 GRAMS THO. i KNOW WHEN I MAKE MY OWN WITH THE FRUIT IT JUST TAKES ME BOUT 2 HOURS TO DRINK IT SOMETIMES 3 HOURS CUZ IT IS THICK Funny because the premiere shakes have the worst after taste to me. They gag me now. Look up on YouTube for Dr Mathew Weiner. He has a "set point" smoothie that he recommends. He has some great videos on surgery and weight loss too
  6. Yes. I've been doing that. Here are some things I add. Not all together but I change it up. Spinach, strawberries, blueberries, plain yogurt, Protein powder, bananas, fresh ginger, almond or fair life milk, any frozen fruit or frozen banana, PB2, Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  8. So today is my 25th day post surgery. I had a stall after the 1st week. Nothing moved after the 1st week! Well I've lost 5 lbs in the last few days. So for those out there worrying--- be patient. I was thinking I am doing something wrong, eating too many carbs, not enough Water and taking bites of things I shouldn't. This is the best feeling. But I am cautious to not Celebrate. Isn't that bad? I did self pay so you can imagine how much I was worrying that I will be paying a loan back and not losing weight. Thank you to all of you that post on here. Without your knowledge I would not know any of this process. This forum is priceless. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. I had that done a few years ago. It did lighten my periods but I still have them and it did not affect anything else. I've never heard of it affecting weight though Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. MSer- just wanted to also tell you I am at a stall too at 3 weeks. I haven't lost since week 1 post op. My pants are a bit looser though. Try looking up some crock pot meals or on Sunday make some main meat meals- chicken, meatloaf, burgers etc.. for r your family. I work full time too and know how hard it is to work and cook let alone all the other things we do as Moms. You are a strong woman! Love yourself first so you can be happy. Start thinking positive and actions will follow. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. I took a hot bubble bath at week 3. No problems Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. So sorry to hear. Can you explain that YOU have to come first? Can he help cook on certain days? I know I would have cravings too. No matter how much you know you shouldn't eat it, the cravings are still there. I don't know the answer but this is your life and you need support or you will come to resent him and that will cause more bad feelings and problems. Good luck and I wish the best for you. 15. I could drink premiere shakes until the last few days. I almost puke when I drink them. In fact I drank one and was at a patients home and had to abruptly leave because I felt nauseous with bad stomach pains. Never again. That feeling was so unpleasant. Like I had the flu. I can tolerate Lean shakes from GNC better now. Luckily there are many options out there. We just have to find what works for us at that particular time. 19. Even when people have basic hernia, gallbladder or appendix surgery it's usually a 6 week recovery. I'm thinking we had major stomach surgery (and hiatal hernia) surgery so all I do now is walk. I still have an uncomfortable feeling at times my abdomen like a bloated feeling so I don't want to risk it. Give yourself time. You are still recovering! 20. Look at the book " A pound of cure". By Dr Mathew Weiner. He also has tons of YouTube videos. He is a bariatric surgeon in Michigan. A lot of people have success with his program Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. Wow. It's like I wrote this topic! My surgery was Nov 9th. Since surgery I've only lost 11lbs and that was all the 1st week home. (After I gained it right after surgery) I was self pay also. I paid a lot and will still be paying this loan back. So it's frustrating when it's not coming off. I think of all the stuff I'm NOT eating or drinking and wonder how in the world is it not flying off of me? I guess we read about the stalls but think " nah it won't happen to me". But of course it does! I keep saying. "This too shall pass". I think when it happens to us, we get nervous that the surgery didn't work or something must be wrong etc... They should have a forum called "after the stall" lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Yep. Same here. Surgery Nov 9th. Stall already Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
