Put the scales away for a week, stick to what you are doing and then get weighed at the end of the week. Stalls are annoying and screw with your head but most of us go through them. You just need to keep your eye on the prize
@daisy63. : Having WLS isnt the answer. You can put all the weight back on and more if you don't stick to the guidelines. The sleve is a tool you work with and if you do it the right way, it can be an amazing life changing thing.
Good luck to both of you

Having Gastric Sleeve surgery today, awaiting to be taken back to operating room. From this day on will be a new journey. Weighed in at 400lbs today at Hospital, started my clear liquid diet two weeks ago and lost 13lbs. I wish, everyone success and best wishes. I've been a paramedic for 26years have always put others first before myself. However, now it's time to save me.

I did very well. Water was difficult at first because I was so full from even the tiniest bit of Protein. My surgeon and nut actually customize the plan for people based on their sw, gw, history of weight loss, and eating habits. For me, there were very few restrictions... the one I'm still following is to abstain from bananas and carbonation; all other restrictions are gone. I gradually added in caffeine (one cup/day as per my nut), alcohol (maybe twice a month, one drink), carbs (less than 40/day, about to go up to 80), 100 g of Protein (started at 60), exercise (every day at first, then vigorously 3-4 X week for 45 minutes), sleep (very important- this really affects your metabolism and most plans I've seen don't address this), Vitamins. Since the restrictions were fewer at each stage and since I came into this with pretty good eating habits, by the third month I was basically off the leash to do what I wanted provided I met protein/carb goals.
I kept a glass water bottle with me and knew that I had to empty it 3X every day to get in the Water (I still use it). I tracked everything I ate. I began by walking every day and then transitioned into running and biking. I'm no athlete but I actually like exercise now! My other tip is to have a good relationship with your scale. My surgeon also had guidelines for that. Daily weight for two weeks so you can see your progress, then every 4-5 days until the 4th month, then once a week... once you hit gw, once every two weeks. I wish that I had followed this protocol but I didn't until I was about 2 1/2 months post op. The scale can make you crazy!

I started low carb, but found that I was having memory issues etc. My dietician told me i needed to go to 100 grams of carbs (Higher than I wanted). I compromised by going to a balanced macro plan. I eat 30-35% carb (complex only). 25-30% fat and 40% Protein. I plan all my meals around these numbers. I was worried that I'd stall or slow by upping my carbs but was suprised to find that my weight loss actually sped up. My main sources for carbs are berries, oats (1/4cup/day),chia seeds, and of course vegetables, so my diet is quite high in Fiber. The above plan gets me to 70-85 grams of carbs a day which ends up being net carbs around 50 grams.
Carbs used to be my weakness, but since I am avoiding simple carbs and all processed food it is a non-issue for me and don't really struggle too much with cravings. (with the exception of popcorn...that will always be my weakness)
This works for me because it is something I can maintain in the long term.

I honestly do not see a lot of difference yet when looking in the mirror but I do see it in my clothes. Yesterday I took a picture at my soon to be sister in laws bridal shower with my Gma. I wanted to put it next to a pic I had taken with my other Gma. I finally can see what others are seeing... at least in my face.

criolelaie reacted to LittleLizzieLilliput in Cheat day?
Cheat days once you've gotten past 3 months is fine but before then you need to remember that your stomach has just be violently abused. lol! You are only 3 weeks out, chicken would be a nightmare for you, tortillas would be a nightmare for you. A cheesy cream Soup would probably be the closest to OK.
sugar free pudding, that's a cheat item right now for you. Some mashed potatoes with butter is a cheat right now that's ok. And don't think of it as cheating, be very conscious of it. You are doing this to lose more weight so you want it to be smart about it. Also increase your Water and just walk more.
Finally, you are only 3 weeks out. You don't need to speed up your weight loss. What's happened is your body has gone through a trauma and needs time to heal. You are retaining Water and Fluid in your abdomen in your bodies natural healing process, your metabolism is in shock, your stomach is in shock.
It takes a few more weeks before you will find an equilibrium in your body. Don't rush it. If you follow all the guidelines and allow your body the time it needs to heal (And Protein. Protein protein protein) than the lbs will melt away at a speed that feels slow sometimes but is miraculously fast in retrospect.

Hey I am newly sleeved myself (Jan 11th) and I feel your pain about the weight coming off "slow". I've lost 11 pounds since surgery and have been holding steady for about 1.5 weeks. As far as the "cheat" day I would say careful. If you were 3 months post op I would say no-harm, no-foul, but 3 weeks..... I know it gets hard because we want more, but try to be steadfast and hold on. It will get better

criolelaie reacted to JamieLogical in Freaking out...just a little. Help.
I disagree with those who are saying 1100 calories is a lot. Especially if you are working out at all. I pushed hard to get over 800 calories post-op so I could do anything more intense than "brisk walking". I then pushed to get up to 1100 calories so I could start running. And I would estimate that I was around 1400-1500 calories a day through most of my weight loss phase.
If you aren't exercising at all, then 1100 calories is probably the upper limit of where you want to be, but if you are working out, you need to basically be "eating back" any of the extra calories you are burning through exercise, otherwise your metabolism is going to tank.

Yesterday I weighed in a 185.2, which puts my BMI at 29.9. So I am now officially only "overweight". Woohoo! Even though it's only been 2 months and 12 pounds since my last set of progress pics, I had my husband go ahead and take new ones for this major milestone. You can see all of my pics in my gallery, but here are a couple showing my 54 pound loss since the pre-op photos were taken:

I enjoy seeing the numbers represented visually, so I thought I would share the graph of my progress so far. I had a slow 3 weeks before today's weigh in, but happy with the progress!

Anyone else track their weight this way?

Had gastric sleeve nov 11, 2016! Hasn't been easy! I was in and out of the hospital with dehydration and stomach spasms causing me to vomit constantly! I'm doing much better now and these results make it seem worth it finally! Don't give up! You're gonna get to where you want to be! Have a blessed Friday!

My goal weight was 165, which is actually 10 pounds "overweight" by the BMI charts. The lowest I got was 153, but that was definitely too thin for me. 165 is my happy space.
To the OP, here are some pics for you. My highest weight was 270, my weight in the "after" photos was around goal of 165. I am 5'6" tall.
