I've followed my food, Protein and Vitamin guidelines precisely and my hair started falling out about a month ago, at about 3 1/2 months out. I have very thick hair and it's down to about what a normal person has and it's still coming out. I've taken Biotin religiously since about 3 mos pre-op and it doesn't seem to have helped a bit. I will say that I've NEVER heard of anyone growing a beard from Biotin.< /p>
I'm shampooing less often and haven't gotten a Brazilian Blowout since it started shedding, to try to avoid any extra stress. It will stop falling out at some point, and if not, there are some awesome wigs out there...I can finally have the long, straight, fine hair I've always wanted, even if just for a while In the grand scheme of things, Hair loss isn't that important, IMO. I'm off blood pressure meds and down almost 65 lbs...that's what's important!

Welcome! This is a very useful and informative app! A little tip though, if you have questions look using the search button for topics that have already been answered.. I didn't know about that when I started using this.. good luck!!

I met with surgeon initially for consult. After i see nutrition and psych i will meet with surgeon again preop. Least i think thats what they told me. Like you rebcal it happened so fast and i was so excited about being there, I didn't really pay attention to everything. It was a bit overwhelming and so much to take in. And the staff there do this stuff so routinely they forget to ask if we have any questions or what our fears might be. I am also a nurse and it does happen. It becomes so routine that we take for granted sometimes that every day ppl don't understand whats going on or understand nursing language.

I'm still in disbelief that I'm actually here, at this point. It seemed so far away, and now here I am!
3 premiere Protein shakes a day, one lean and green meal, broth, and sugar-free Jello is what my days will look like.
There really are no questions here, haha. I suppose I'm just excited and wanted to share!
My poor little mind is trying so hard to wrap itself what is about to go down, and it's just not working. This next chapter in my life, well beyond my two week pre-op diet, is going to be completely bonkers.
    Wow.
    Let's do this!

Of course I had nothing to be nervous about! The surgeon just went over the procedure with me, answered any questions we had, and gave me a list of what I needed to do between now and potential surgery date. I was overwhelmed with that part because it's a pretty long list of things to do. But, once you really look at it, it's not so bad. I feel like with all the appointments in between now and then, it will make everything go by fast.

One thing I love about FB’s on this day feature is seeing all the selfies I used to take lol. This picture really got me though. It was a picture of my niece and I taken one year ago. I see someone who although she is smiling, she is dead on the inside. Longing to break free from the chains of obesity. January 7th of this year I started my new sleeved life. It has not been easy, but I do not regret my decision not one bit. Exercise has become something that I enjoy to do, I never thought I would say that! I am able to be the active mom that my son deserves to have. I no longer get tired and out of breath playing with him. I had got to the point where I hid from my friends because I was ashamed of myself. Not anymore. I am able to walk with my head held high and am proud of the progress I have made so far. I included a full body shot as well the beach picture was taken July 2015. I really needed to see these pictures side by side, the last few months things have slowed down tremendously. It’s not because I haven’t been putting the work in, I am just trying to be patient as I can be. I know I will get to where I want to be.
The only thing I miss about the old me from last year is my longer hair!

The time has gone by so fast. I can't believe I had the sleeve 2 years ago today. I had a lower BMI so I had to pay for it myself using my HSA in the US. I had been a yoyo dieter for years. I always loved to workout and would lose the 50 lbs but then I'd always be hangry and get tired of logging my food etc and eventually gain the weight back. I am so happy I decided to make this lifestyle change. It's not an easy way out. I still eat 5 small meals a day focusing on Protein, drink my Water, take my Vitamins, and workout 6x a week. I weigh myself 2-3x a week and focus on staying within a 3-4 lb range. When it creeps up I cut out the carbs and go back to the basics. This Group has been so Wonderful over the last two years. I have learned so much. The 3 week stall, my favorite Protein Bars, favorite shakes, etc. I also learned that even at 2 years out I make mistakes. Sometimes I will over eat and feel miserable for about an hour or not drink enough Water and get a headache. Don't beat yourself up but also never give up! You will gain confidence and courage. Here's me on my trike before surgery and then this summer rocking 2 wheels.
If you ever have questions I am happy to help.

Weight loss surgery will not fix any psychological eating, binging, self sabatoging issues. Additionally it can be very emotionally taxing. The insurance and surgeon want to ensure you are capable of being successful.

I didn't give up coffee because my surgeon said coffee is fine for me. I have cut way back because it doesn't taste the same to me. I'll hit a Cappuccino a few times a week tho...
