Yes, it does get discouraging, believe me!! Your sw also has a lot to do with it. I was 227 on surgery day and am 5'6". Maybe I didn't have as much as most people to lose, although I think I do, and this is why its slower. I do get my Protein in, but definitely have problems getting required Water intake in. I keep pushing to get more in every day. Also, my surgeon had us on soft foods by the time I left the hospital, many people are on liquid diets for weeks.

Yes, just stick with it. I am almost 3 months out, sleeved on 3/31 and have just barely lost 30 lbs. since beong sleeved. I also can eat about a cup of food without any issue. I am definitely a slower loser, but good thing is I havent gained. So as long as I keep losing, I'm okay with a slow loss. Stick with your plan and you will see results. Everyone is different, so its very hard to compare your journey to another. Just wanted you to know you're not alone. Also, it seems as if Im in stalls every couple weeks

I was Type 2 as well, sleeved on June 16 and my AM fasting blood sugars have gone from 250+ to around 110. My endocrinologist took me off glipizide pre-op and my surgeon took me off Metformin post-op so I haven't taken any meds for a week or so now. I'm still in the liquid stage, so total carbs around 15-20 per day but I plan on staying as low-carb as possible when I move onto real food.
Good luck with your surgery! It's scheduled on my birthday so that's always a good day! 😀

I had RNY on 11/14/16 starting at 341. As of today I am 277. Although I have lost inches as well. I started in a size 4X pants and I'm getting ready to get into a 2X.

On surgery date I was 227 on 3/31, today am 200.4, was as low as 198.4 a few days ago, but fluctuate constantly up and down by a pound or two. The one thing I lack is Water, have never been a big water drinker and still aint. Good luck on your journey!!!

So I had surgery on 2/16/17 and after a stall or two I must say that I am enjoying life and my journey is going great. Before surgery I was on so many prescriptions, High BP, Cholesterol, metformin for prediabetes, a stomach Med, and heartburn med. three months out from surgery all my meds are now gone. My A1C is perfect, my cholesterol is low, my blood pressure is low, and I've lost a total of 110lbs (40 in the three months before surgery and 70 since surgery). That is 5lbs a week. I eat sensible, Protein first and then veggies. I have four small meals a day and have learned quickly what I can tolerate and I drink tons of Water now. I am shocked at how quickly my relationship with food has changed and all the things I thought I would miss (soda, junk, fast food, binge eating) are not really a concern. I look longingly at my coworkers food sometimes but it is more a nostalgia than a want. I like exercising, and always had but my ability to do it was nonexistent before. Now I enjoy the gym, and while it is taking a long time to build back up the stamina and tone I once had, I know I will get there as long as I keep at it.
I cannot be thankful enough for the support of my family and drs, my PCP for pushing my and my surgeon for doing an awesome job, being super supportive and checking in with me with random calls every now and then.
For those thinking about surgery, it will change your life, and you will get out of it all you count into it. I thank god for this new chance at a healthy life and for the strength to change.

I just wanted to say that you just may be a slower loserthan most. I also am a slower loser and at two and a half months out have just lost about 28 lb today I hit 198 on the scale this morning, so I am finally in Onderland. I am slow but I am losing and I have had multiple stalls along the way where I go up and down a pound or two for up to two weeks at a time it is frustrating, but I have just been sticking with it and steadily I have seen the pounds drop, slower than most, but they are still dropping. Also, do not compare yourself to somebody who is a higher weight than you as they will most likely lose a lot faster than you will. Good luck and stick with your plan you will see the pounds come off eventually.

Had VSG almost 2 years ago now. I'm down from a size 30/32 to a 12! I must admit within these past 3 months or so, it has been a war fighting against weight gain, and now my 12's are a little snug. I am determined to lose the 15lbs I've gained!! Ugh the fatgirl life!

Today marks my one week post gastric sleeve surgery and I could not be happier! I am down 12 pounds this week. I am doing well getting 64 ounces of Fluid in a day in reaching my goal of between 30 and 40 g of Protein. I have been drinking the Premier Protein shakes which are 30 g of protein and only 1 g of sugar. And then also I live on chicken and beef broth because I love it! I eat a lot of Popsicles and Jell-O neither of which are sugarfree base on my physician stating I needed a little bit of the sugar for the carbohydrates, as I am a diabetic. Or at least I was a diabetic before the surgery we will see how it goes. 12 pounds can truly make a huge difference as you can see from the picture below
The first picture was taken in a week before surgery the second was taken this morning!

Syaniya reacted to Freedom2Thrive in 16 and 340 lbs - My Journey
This is a story about a young man who always had a smile on his face but knew he was different. Whether it be his heart or his waistline he always had the biggest in his class. He never let it hold him back because he saw the best in people when they couldn't see it in him.

He wasn’t always so confident about what life would hold for him. At the age of 12, he had gotten to 220 pounds. Due to a condition unrelated to his weight he suffered pain in his legs and ankles and required surgery to repair a curvature in his legs. Post-op, he gained even more weight. From age 12 to 16 he gained about 120 pounds.

It's hard to see the pain behind this cutie's smile, but when he was 16 he told a psychiatrist that he was ready to die. He felt like he maxed out on his potential in life and it would be okay if he wasn't around anymore. It was an extremely stressful time and he had no proper way to cope with anything, and he let himself get to 340 pounds. He had no values. He had no beliefs and he saw no purpose.

In 2010, his mom read a magazine article about the SickKids Team Obesity Management Program. Through STOMP, patients can access a team of health professionals, support groups and, for those who meet specific criteria, bariatric surgery. At the time, the program was focused on teens with other health issues, such as Type 2 diabetes, but he was still a solid fit. After three months, he had lost 20 pounds and the team was looking at surgical options. In August 2011 and weighing 300 pounds, he had a Roux-En-Y gastric bypass, a form of bariatric surgery

In less than a year he lost around 80 pounds, weighing 220 pounds. His life had changed significantly when it came to eating, but he was prepared for that and knew he would have to manage this for the rest of his life.

It wasn't perfect and for a few years post-op he struggled with multiple different complications, but he found a way to push through them and find some balance in his life.

He began to find purpose in his life. He went to nursing school, driven by the care and passion that many doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals poured into him along his journey. He wanted to giveback and make a difference in other people's lives. He wanted others to see that they were just as worth the love and care he received.

He found values. He became accountable for his actions and saw what was truly important in his life. He became a lover of travelling, eating delicious food and engaging in fitness and leading a healthy lifestyle.

He developed a new set of beliefs - that every day is another chance to get stronger, to eat better, to live healthier and be the best version of himself because he is human - perfectly imperfect and worth it.
