  1. My surgeon set my goal as 155 lbs. I want to be smaller than that but my wife said I shouldn't because I will look sickly.
  2. Hello. I use kidney beans, chili powder, onions, tomatoes, ground round (sometimes flat iron steak), tomato paste (I like thicker chili).
  3. For me it is mostly salads and chili. I do eat protein bars and Pure Protein drinks.
  4. Well tomorrow will be my 6 moth anniversary since my RNY surgery. I have my 6 month surgeon check up on Monday. I am excited to see what he has to say. On my home scale I am 6 pounds from the surgeons goal weight for me. Also, my surgeons office does a thing called Baripals that pairs up someone at least 6 month post op with someone who doesn't have a good support group to help them through the preop through post op processes. I now officially have two Baripals to help.
  5. I had RNY in October of 16 and had very little pain (except getting out of the hospital bed) and I had to bring my own CPAP machine. They did a "safety check" on it and they had to set it up for me for some reason.
  6. Redmaxx posted a topic in The Lounge
Just saw this on FB and it made me laugh.
  7. RNY. I am now a kangaroo with a pouch.
  8. I was a diabetic and my A1C was over 10 when I had surgery. It is 6.3 at almost 6 months post op.
  9. Mine was 30 days after insurance approval. Which was 30 days after my surgeon called to schedule my RNY surgery.
  10. I am almost 6 months post op and I still see myself as overweight. However if I see myself in the mirror I just stare because I don't recognize the person looking back at me. I know you want to lose weight as fast as you can (or faster) but you will lose at your own rate. You are doing great. Keep a positive attitude and don't sweat the little things. We are all in this together. Like family.
  11. I have the Garmin Vivosmart HR and I love it. I found it to be less expensive than the comparable Fitbit that has all the bells and whistles that I wanted. In the end it is up to you and whatever you like.
  12. I too have this issue. I am almost 22 weeks post op. I ended up in the ER the day after my birthday because I hadn't had a bowl movement for over a week. It hurt pretty bad. I also had urine retention (which my primary at the VA said is probably due to an enlarged prostrate and put me on meds). I still have to strain to have a bowel movement but I am having them every day since I started the BPH meds (for some reason the meds seem to help me have "normal" daily bowel movements). I go an see my surgeon for my 6 month in April and that will be the first thing on my list to tell him about. Good luck to you.
  13. No she doesn't. And thank you.
  14. So the wife and I went to Khol's the other night and I found the perfect suit to buy for my eldest daughter's wedding in November.
  15. So I was about 4 months post op for the RNY and I ended up in the emergency room for Acute Urinary Retention, Male and Fecal Impaction. I hadn't had a bowel movement in 7 days and I was unable to pass urine for about 24 hours. Two enemas and a Foley later I was urine free and able to have a bowl movement. I went to my primary at the VA hospital because I ended up with a UTI and had a bladder scan. Seems I was not emptying my bladder when I urinated. They put me on medication for BPH. I am not sure if it is helping with the bladder emptying but it has helped with the bowl movements. Now I am sure that the VA is going to schedule me for testing to check out my prostrate. It sucks getting older.
  16. I am only 19 weeks post op RNY but I have never heard of this. I have never missed one of my support group meetings and have never heard of anyone with this issue. Although I will say the sleeves out number the pouches by about 10 to 1 at the support group.
  17. I know they have to lower the pressure (again) as my mouth is really dry in the morning. I also need to see about getting something different in terms of a mask. I have to pull the straps pretty tight so that it doesn't leak and now the bridge of my nose hurts. If I have to keep using it maybe I need to look into getting a nasal pillow. We will have to see what the doctor says later this month.
  18. When and how did you know that you no longer needed your CPAP? Since my surgery I have had a ton of energy (had the pressure lowered due to dry mouth) but for the last week or so I feel tired during the day. I am just wondering if maybe I don't need my CPAP anymore? I have an appointment with my sleep doctor on 23 March and I know he had talked about doing a sleep study since I haven't had one done in about 7 years or so.
  19. I try to keep a positive attitude. I know it is hard. Try to find someone whom you can talk to. Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App
  20. You know what? I don't tell people because most of them have some sort of advice that they want to give me. I used to tell people, but know I just say thanks and if they ask how I tell them I watch what I eat (which is true).
  21. You may cheat and try to eat more than you are supposed to or what you are not supposed to but after you purge a couple of time you will stop that. Purging is not fun at all. Good luck to you and see you on the Loser's Bench very soon.
  22. It wouldn't keep me logged in. It seems to be ok right now. Also, I have had issues with following posts as well.
  23. I grew up in Dearborn with Dr. Genaw. Had my RNY on 20 Oct 2016 at St. Mary Mercy in Livonia.
  24. You might want to have the doctor turn down the pressure on your CPAP. That is what I did and I don't get the dry mouth anymore.
