Hi, I seen someone post about this book on another thread the other day and it's very informative and helps you really understand the changes you have to make and to be more aware of what's going on in your head and the life long changes that have to be made..

Stop now and get back on track. You really must focus on the self-discipline that's required to follow through with this part of your surgical prep, it's important. It's not just important in terms of a successful surgery and recovery, but moreso for your MENTAL preparation for what's coming. You simply cannot be in the mindset of cheating anymore. Period. You will not have that option after surgery and if you try, bad things are going to happen. Let go of your old habits, it's time now to focus on reprogramming your brain and that includes maintaining your discipline, as hard as it is (and I know the pre-op diet is hard, it might be one of the hardest parts to this whole thing...but it's got a time limit on it).
This one lapse isn't going to cost you the surgery, no. But when you do something like this, you open the door to MORE lapses.

Hello everyone, I'm Antonio I was sleeved on 5/29/15. Reside in NYC. Was sleeved at NY Presbyterian
HW 340 SW 320 CW 200 MY GOAL WAS 225. But now I want to go down to 190 . I been motivated for the results of the weight loss and my gym results.
I lost all of my weight by November 2015 now it's just been maintenance. Definitely keeping active, as you see I picked up biking which is something I haven't done in 20 years along with hiking. Surgery was the best decision I made in my life. My only regret was not doing it sooner since now I'm in my mid 40s .
Hope to chat with fellow NY'ers

He... Forbid it?! .. WoW .. Sorry, no, I can't help, my family is totally supportive.. I'm the type if you try to "forbid" me I'm damn sure going to do it now whether I really wanted to or not.. But I hope if this is something you really want and feel is necessary for your health that you can get it through his head

LoL thanks.. I asked my doctor what happens if after 4 weeks we still don't have a date? I said cuz if I have to do this more than 4wks I'm going to kill you.. But I'm not straight liquid.. I get veggies ???? he laughed n said no your not.. I said I know.. This hasn't been that hard and honestly at first I was sticking to the 4 veggies they had on the list but today the nut told me I could have any of the low/no carb veggies I want, she said she sees I know what I'm doing..

I had my surgery less than a year ago. And it has changed everything. When I made the life altering decision to have the surgery, I gained the courage by imagining what life I might live if I were healthier.
A few months after my surgery I bought an RV, and moved into it full-time in June. This gives me so much freedom, and the ability to travel full-time. It is an amazing gift, that I would be physically incapable of enjoying at my previous high weight of over 300 pounds!
I am so grateful that I was able to get the surgery. It has truly changed my life. I know I will always have to be careful about my relationship with food, but this surgery has truly given me a chance to live the life that I've been dreaming of.

It's very individual. Some people have fatigue, Water retention and swelling for weeks, some don't. There really isn't a 'normal'.
I had no fatigue at all post-op, was up walking 15 and 20 laps around the ward where I was admitted, started walking a mile a day on day 4. There was a male patient who was the surgical case before mine who could barely get out of bed and when I see him at support group, he's coming along much slower than I am. But it's all within the realm of normal.
If its so bad that you're truly concerned, you should contact your surgeon/team and let them know.

I guess I was living in a bubble for a long time as I was so not aware of how many of us live with chronic pain. I still remember when my doctor did that stupid pain scale and I said my pain on one particular visit was 4-5 and he said it looked to him like my pain level was worse based on how I was walking/sitting, etc.
I reminded him that pain was subjective and since my highest pain was more than most people could bear, my version of a 4-5 would likely immobilize someone not used to living this way.
I do my best to not have it impact my life...or impact it as little as possible.
I'm glad this thread is here...to get input and advice and just comfort in knowing I'm not alone in dealing with this.

Has it made any significant difference in your pain or has it progressed over the years like you think it would have regardless of your weight? How long did you have fibro before you had your bypass surgery?

Seriously though.. I think the "habits" more than food.. Down the road you can have pretty much anything you want as long as it's in moderation.. My sis had surgery over 10 yrs ago n she does

Do you understand how raw and angry your "stomach" is after being cut up and cut out?
Do you understand your relationship with food as you knew it is now over?
Do you understand that this isnt a magic procedure or the easy way out to lose weight?
Do you understand that you need to be on a specific diet for years to come to lose and maintain the weight loss?

OP, sorry to pile on here, but you really do have to realize what you're doing here. Granted, some of the guidelines we're given are probably safer than needed, but it's for our protection.
You're not just putting your toe over the line, you're stepping way past it.

I take my measurements every week. Size charts are not accurate on almost any chart. Then if you lose and you are really squishy there are other issues. When you compound that with constantly losing, weekly. Buying clothes is a pain. I have so many cute things I have purchased and never even worn because I waited a week to wear them and they are too big.
