I completely agree with you, and i'm glad you kept yours a secret to avoid the negativity.

I'm only 5'1 and according to the BMI, anything over 130 is over weight for me so imagine what it takes to be considered morbidly obese, not much.

I think everyone should be supported for trying sooooo hard to take control of their life back.

I love this and you're right!!! Every single one of us knows what it feels like to be the biggest person in the room. Or to have someone try to make you feel small or different because you're overweight. Regardless of how anyone sugar coats it. It hurts, period.

    Venting*** sorry
So i'm in several other online support groups right. And i've started volunteering at my local surgery center support group too.
But lately in 2 of my other online support groups i've been seeing a ton of negativity and body shaming smaller sleevers/ by passers. It's so rude to me.
I just feel so bad for anyone that has to go through that. Someone recently posted something about people being in the 200's not needing wls, and that they should not post their before and afters.
First off, aren't we all having the same struggle? Both physically and mentally.
Secondly, nobody really knows another person's reasoning behind their decision. If your insurance is paying for it, it is because they are obese and possibly have other co morbidies. So i'm all for any and anyone feeling like they need to make a change to keep the weight off and get healthier.
I just think some people should attempt to be a bit more open minded or just not say anything. This post i'm referring to literally started a cyber war, which is so crazy to me. Nobody would ever judge someone for being much larger and deciding to go down the wls route...just saying.
I think everyone should feel welcomed and supported.

I would say skip online dating and have fun. You’ll meet some of the most amazing people unexpectedly just by doing hobbies you love. I accidentally met the love of my life after wls that way. I’m not against online dating or anything, i guess my suggestion would be- take some time to date your self instead of going into it with a full blown purpose if that makes sense. Who knows, you may even meet your match randomly at whole foods or the gym or something.

Sorry you’re going through that hun, view it as the right door closing and a better one about to open. 💖

xoxococojay got a reaction from JessLess in How long after surgery before you returned to work?
First time around i took 1 week off (i was totally fine by day 5)
Second time around i took a week off and i was actually fine by day 2, no pain what so ever- just tired the first two days.

Now everyone is different. It depends on so many things like pain tolerance, how you react to anesthesia, age, kind of work you do, whether you had past surgeries.

I’m young, never had anything done before or any additional heath issues, no scar tissue and i have a gov job so for me it was easier than others experiences.

I didn't start working out until I had my weight at a range where I felt comfortable working out (which was 50 lbs post surgery - so that was about 6-7 weeks.)
I started initially with alot of functional strength/mobility/bodyweight work.
Now, 17 months later I am doing full body workouts with an emphasis on strength training, but I do cardio and yoga to support with my flexibility and mobility.
Today I did my best deadlift weight for a full set of 5 reps after being stuck for a couple of weeks! YASSSSSSS!

You will definitely get through all of that. And i think with the right foundation you will get over the whole missing food thing too, you’ll eventually in time get to a point where you realize it’s not that serious.

Did you have to talk to a therapist during your pre-op stuff? Circle back with them and see if they can help. It’s all just mental, good luck.

I haven't. I have no idea how far I'm going to end up going. Right now I'm in the process of still trying to wear the larger clothes while I shrink so I don't have to keep buying more damn clothes! From a 50 waste to a loose 42 now... I'd hate to start converting all my sizes over to 42's and then have all of them end up too big!

Don’t do it lol. It won’t fit when you think you’re ready.

I remember i had this super cute summer dress that was a size medium from years ago. I told myself i just wanted to lose enough weight to fit into it. Fast forward to this past summer, i found it while moving and tried it on. It literally fell right off me and on to the floor. Not even my big old flotation devices could hold that dress up.

I had to take off my wedding rings and bought silicone ones a size smaller. I bought boots that actually go up my calves.

I remember the first time this happened to me after surgery. I saw the car and despair set in, thinking I'd have to wait for the other driver to come back. But I was able to squeeze into my car. What an amazing feeling!

Yes- i did! I had my revision friday and i feel freaking amazing!!! I’m wishing you all the best of luck.

I was in the same boat as you in the sense that i workout hard core religiously 5 days per week and i’m like the poster child in my local area for how to eat post op, but even i had severe reflux. Shit happens. It got to the point where i honestly didn’t even care if i drank sparkling Water because i ended up with reflux anyway by avoiding that.

So i did not have bypass, i had the one anastomosis bypass which is different. It’s rare and i’m actually literally the first person in my state to even have that done. So we’ll see how it compares, but so far i can say that it is definitely very very different from my sleeve.

You will be so much happier once the reflux goes away. All the best to you.
