Lucky2Lose reacted to Nel71 in Anyone getting sleeve but have 60lbs or less to loose?
I am 4ft 11in and weigh 187lbs. I have always worked out (spin, boot camp etc..). I eat healthy and not a big junk food eater. My problem is I have to eat very tiny portions to see any results. Does not even matter what the food is. If it's not a minuscule portion I will not loose anything. I had a trainer for a year and see a nutritionist once a month. I have done Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers etc...It all comes nack to my portion size. 1 cup of anything is too much for me so i have to weight and measure everything. It's been years of up and down and a struggle.
Because of my height and weight I qualify for the surgery. The date is set for April 13th. DR. Wants me to loose about 50lbs. Anyone out there that has about the same to loose?
I Feel uncomfortable sharing as people look at me thinking i don't need it.

    So.....stop.
Just stop. Quit sabotaging your ability to gain results.
It's not too late to get realigned with the suggested methods your bariatric group instructed you on.
You use the term, "I can't ". I'm calling BS on this. You can, you simply choose not to.
You've had weight loss surgery.....altered your body in order to set yourself up for losing weight. It's not to late to make the mental adjustments needed to support this.
People the world over are flooding their gyms and diet centers this month in hopes of fulfilling their New Year's resolutions to lose weight. Be a joiner, lol. Follow along.....or better yet....lead the way. You've had a head start on them.....now leave them in the dust.
    Or don't.
    Your choice.
Keep doing as you've always done and be content with not getting the most from your surgery.
Or follow the rules and thrive with the benefits that will be forthcoming.

Lucky2Lose got a reaction from suzzzzz in Can you stall before you start?
I think 10,000 is a reasonable goal. I walk my two 15 minute breaks at work and half my lunch break and get those steps in before I even leave work. Breaks it up and makes it easier to obtain. Then I hit the gym for weight training or another 30 minute workout like the elliptical at least 3 times a week. I'm 7 weeks out and had the 3 week stall myself..actually 3-4 week stall. Lol Lower BMIs don't lose as quick either. I'm losing super slow but I'm losing and that's what counts. Just keep with it and it'll break through. It did for me..

It sounds like me that your surgeon did suggest the bypass because of your reflux but the final decision is yours. Mine suggested the bypass due to me diabetes and asked why I wanted the sleeve as well. I went with my gut instincts and when they asked what I wanted submitted to insurance I got the sleeve anyway. It's your body and your choice ultimately.

I think we all feel this way..people always tend to want things to happen overnight. I'm a month out and down 20..but have people I know who have dropped 40..well we are all different..we lose weight differently our starting weight, age, hormones, activity level etc can also play a part in how much you lose. I am trying to be patient with it myself..I think that's the key. I feel like I'm doing everything right. I'm following my diet..walking 10,000 steps at least 5 times a week, getting my fluids in, taking my Vitamins, weight training 3 times a week..so I'm trying to remind myself..I didn't gain this weight overnight..I'm not going to lose it overnight either.

Oh I had the same concerns before I had mine. I read..I researched..I think I watched every VSG journey videos on utube..the good and bad. It's major surgery..things can and do go wrong for people..but I knew in my heart it was the right decision for me. I had the surgery..no complications..no food intolerances..no nausea issues..nothing. I would do it again even not knowing what my outcome would be..why? Because I am only a month out of surgery..I'm down 20 lbs..I'm off my diabetes medicine and I feel pretty great. The best part is I have a tool that keeps me honest in my food portions, which I had a real issue with.

    Let me add this:
Can we please just stop with the "you need to exercise more" thing? With as little calories as we consume, especially so early out post op, there is no need to kill yourself exercising. 15-30 minutes of walking is more than sufficient. I've seen too much exercise actually hinder weight loss in people, and I'm one of them. I think once we can eat enough calories to support it, then we can look into moderate exercise and strength training.
You're a "lightweight" in the WLS world, therefore your weight loss won't be as fast as others. I agree with the poster above: concentrate on Protein and Water...lots of Water. Don't worry abouy calories right now. Eat on a schedule, and every 2 hours.
Also, take your measurements. I'd be willing to bet you're also losing inches.
Do your thing and try not to compare yourself to others. After all, comparison is the thief of joy.

The seeds pose a big risk of getting caught in your staple line. Wait a while longer on that. I don't know what hemp hearts are.

Maybe grind them up in a coffee grinder? That's what my wife does for her Breakfast smoothie thing she makes. But she hasn't had surgery.
