This does not seem like normal loss!

Recommended Posts

I'm 6 weeks post-op and I've only lost 10 pounds. What am I doing wrong? I haven't had bread Pasta or potatoes and I'm watching my portions yet I am not losing like anyone else on here I see. I expected a slow loss what this is starting to make me feel defeated. On top of that , even though I feel my restriction I quickly get hungry again...

I am at 4 weeks only lost 11 pounds, but I haven't been walking lots of snow here and bad roads so I haven't been to gym, just work everyday a desk job, but maybe when I get more active it will come off faster.

Hang in there. Everyone's weight lost rate is different. Are you writing everything down in a journal? Are you walking? Don't feel defeated. Maybe some modifications in what you are doing is needed to jump start the metabolism. I have heard this from one of my friends, she had the same issue. She kept at it. Changed up her exercise routine and increased her Water intake.

Why don't you post up what you have been eating for the last week. Maybe we can spot some ways to help you.

I notice that your start weight was 192. I have noticed that people who weigh more tend to lose quicker at first. Probably has more to to with osing retained Water that fat. I felt I was losing slowly and discussed it with my NUT. Her advice was to increase my calories by adding more fat... It's that whole body in starvation mode thing... I did it and lost five pound in the next 7 days and at least 2 pounds a week since.

I would be losing more but I slacked off on exercise last week.

I know it sounds strange but maybe try to eat more healthy fats or more in general for a short time.

I am 6 weeks post op and hungry too. But I notice when I am hungrier and eat a little more is when I lose more. Think it's the metabolism getting going. Also just walking the dog helps lose the weight too. Try just walking even if a short distance and see if that helps.

Hang in there!

In order to help you we really would need to know a little more like how many calories are you taking in a day? How much Protein? How many carbs? Are you tracking all of this? If not you should start. I use myfitnesspal to track everything. Plus realize that you did start with a lower bmi so your loss will be slower than say mine because I started at 316 pounds so I'm gonna take off more a lot quicker until I reach a lower bmi.

Thank you for all the replies. I do need to up the exercise. I've been getting on my elliptical for about 10 min a day but I can/should do more.

Here is what my daily meal plan looks like.

7:30ish-Triple Zero yogurt OR steel cut oatmeal (plain, 120 calories, 3 grms of sugar) with a scoop of P2B in it (I can only eat about half of it). Some days I do two eggs instead.

9:30ish-Premier Protien shake

11:30ish- tuna packet and apple sauce OR protien of some sort (for example 2 chix wings or some turkey bacon).

3:30ish- 1/2 a cup low fat cottage cheese OR cheese and a few pieces of turkey bacon. Sometimes I may substitute this with a few Harvest Snaps

5 or 6:00- Some sort of protien like fish, chix, or ground turkey and a veggie. Last night I had half of a stuffed green pepper (I substituted rice with cauliflower rice).

I sip Water all day but I'll admit I'm only taking in about 26 oz. I'm working on it.

Open to any suggestions and again..thank you!

Thank you. I'm trying to keep my head up. I posted on here I hopes to see that there is still light at the end of the tunnel. I just need to know that this slow of a loss has happened to others and they still had success.

Can I ask what kind of food did you incorporated into your diet to up your fat intake? I have my "go tos" but would love to have more options?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
