Lucky2Lose reacted to Walter.Sobchak in Denial about my weight
I am thinking it is the way to go as well. I have been researching more, and reading posts here and I feel like it is the right thing to do.
I see the surgeon on Tuesday of next week.
We will see what he says.

You can do this..I worried about the surgery and went back and forth too..it's not an easy decision but it was the right one for me. I'm 2 months out and feel wonderful..I'm exercising my butt off..literally..haha
The weight doesn't come off me fast but I was a lower BMI at surgery..but it's going the right direction. I made the right decision and it was solely made for me..to be the best me possible..Good luck on your journey!

First how much have you lost..in what timeframe..slow is not always a bad thing? How is your exercise? Water intake?
I am personally trying intermittent fasting with 16:8..16 hours of fasting and 8 hour window to eat and I'm mixing my calories up too..two non consecutive days with only 500 calories each day..rest of the week normal calorie range to see if it helps me.

    Hello All,
I had a realization the other day, I am in denial about my size.
I do not see myself the same way the world sees me.
I saw a picture of myself and it was shocking, I am huge.
In my head I don't look that bad.
I have always been a big guy.
In college I was big and muscular and that is how I still see myself.
However, now I am big and soft and obese but I don't see myself that way.
I have to get honest with myself.
    I am 420 pounds, I am wearing a 6XLT shirt, waist size 54 pants.
I am 200 pounds heavier than I was at 21 years old.
I have my appointment with the weight loss surgeon in less than a week.
I have received some encouraging responses on this forum, so I thank all of you for that.

Feeling great..walking 15,000 steps a day..on top of that I'm weight training 3 days a week and running on the elliptical 2-3 times a week. Still living my diet plan..but got to add vegetables this week..WHOOOO HOOOO!!! My energy level is optimal. My weight has been very slow coming off but it was slow putting it on originally, I keep telling myself. I am not weighing myself because it's becoming an addiction and if results don't happen I beat myself up..so my stats are 2 weeks old. My first support group is Monday..excited to see folks I went to Bootcamp with. So thankful and happy I did this..just for me.

I have been a Coke Zero addict on and off for years..I'd go months with none then I'd drink one and be right back on the Coke Zero wagon. I knew going into the surgery no carbonation for at least a year. It's a rule to protect our stomachs and it's also shown that diet colas make you crave carbs more AND gain weight. It's been hard but I don't want to hurt myself for a silly beverage. You are only two weeks out of surgery and already trying one..I hope you stop now and find something else to drink. There are lots of good options. It's your body and life..take control and knock the habit now before you do real damage. Good luck

I think that his video is a nice representation of the drinking after eating rule:
My surgeon said to wait 15-30 minutes but a few sips won't matter much if it's to help food go down. Every surgeon is different, though.

Lucky2Lose reacted to JamieLogical in Question about drinking after eating
I am allowed to drink right up to the time I eat, but not for 20 minutes after. The drinking BEFORE eating thing is really only an issue in the very early stages. The concern there is that you will feel too "full" from drinking to eat as much food as you need. The ability to eat enough is less of an issue once you are healed up. So at that point, there's really no risk in drinking before eating. If it does make you too "full" to eat as much food, that's probably actually a good thing!
As for drinking after eating, I was told to wait 20 minutes, but honestly, even at over two years out, I couldn't drink less than 40 minutes after eating if I wanted to! I feel so full from food after I eat and if I try to drink too soon afterward, I can feel the Water just like sitting in my esophagus and it makes all these gurgling sounds. It's not pleasant! So for me 40-60 minutes after eating just happens naturally. I don't make a conscious effort to wait a certain amount of time. I just wait until I feel like I CAN comfortably drink again.
The REAL, CRITICAL key is to not eat and drink at the same time. Eating and drinking at the same time is a surefire way to eat around your restriction. Drinking while eating thins out the food (like in the video above) and allows it to pass through your stomach more quickly and easily.

I haven't really been on this forum for a while, mostly due to lack of motivation because of a stall. A VERY LONG STALL. But my body is finally starting to lose again after 6 months. Yay!! I'm just wondering if you guys the ones that are more than a year out can show me your pics? I'd really love to see how all of you are doing?!?!?!?
    I'll start:

Aye, but ignoring butthurt is also technically burying your head in the sand. I have done some adult teaching in my life and have to come to the realisation that for those who choose to bury their heads, it's their heads, and it's their sand. If we really cared about those we're are advising, we won't let discussions deteriorate. Some of the 'Advisors' just come of as being self righteous *insert whatever term*. Some of those being advised come of as whiny little *whatevers*. Surely there has to be a middle ground if what we really care about is progress for everyone? If some people want to fail, advise, move on.. The problem is that when we move on, we carry sentiments from the last 'destined to fail' person onto the next person asking a similarly dumb looking (but very innocent) question.
We answer with a terse or dismissive answer and wonder why the person asking is pissed off?

The only thing that helped me was MagO7. I took a full dose (5 pills) day 1 and 2 for quick relief...it worked (hallelujah). I hadn't pooped in 2 weeks. Now I take 2 a day to maintain. Everyone's system is different so you might have to experiment but it REALLY works. It's all natural.

There is nothing wrong with sf candy. Everybody is different. You would need to try it for yourself and see how your body reacts. I eat sf jolly ranchers, life savers, and werthers. It helps crave all of my sugar cravings when I struggle
