  1. Stop the madness.... Banded 10/12/16
  2. It is so easy to reach for food when we are stressed, sad, bored, lonely and more. I'm working each day to break this unhealthy habit. Banded 10/12/16
  3. You look great! Banded 10/12/16
  4. Congratulations! You look like you feel wonderful. Beautiful! Banded 10/12/16
  5. Glad to read you are doing better. Everyone is different. The gastric band works for some and not others, which is the same with all the surgeries. So many factors impact success. Best wishes with your next surgery. Banded 10/12/16
  6. Yes, avoid high carb foods as they won't satisfy you for very long before you will be hungry again. Explore The World According to Eggface. She has numerous recipes when the surgeon says you are ready. Banded 10/12/16
  7. We own a dehydrator and we will be digging it out to give this recipe a try. Thanks and please keep sharing. My hubby said he will make anything I want to help me be successful. I love my husband. Banded 10/12/16
  8. Not much Protein, and a lot of carbs (I suspect). You had surgery for a reason. Think about what changes you need to make to be successful for the rest of your life. Banded 10/12/16
  9. I would stay away from carbs. Try cream of chicken Soup made with high Protein skim milk. Banded 10/12/16
  10. I track everything because it is easy for me to under estimate how many calories I eat. Banded 10/12/16
  11. If the bottle say 12 oz. and your Water glass say 8 then how many of those you consume will help you track. Banded 10/12/16
  12. Hot things helped me survive my 10 days. Hot herbal tea, cream of chicken, cream of tomato, cream of mushroom (strained of solids) made with Fair Life Skim Milk. Cream of Wheat thinned, hot broth. Banded 10/12/16
  13. Is your home scale accurate? My scale weighs me less than I weigh at the doctor. Banded 10/12/16
  14. Hot Soups helped me. Hot broth too. Banded 10/12/16
  15. @@Bandista thank you. I feel good and I'm excited about the future. Banded 10/12/16
  16. It is important for all of us to lead a life that fulfills us. When obesity controls what we can and can't do we are not at our best. Banded 10/12/16
  17. During my six months of preoperative classes we heard this can be an issue. Our society accepts going out for a drink as part of our social norms. Vodka has names and flavors like "birthday cake." Schnapps and whiskey all come in fun flavors. I know that I can't drink hard liquor because it changes my personality. A glass or two of wine on a night out works for me with glasses of club soda and Protein (cheese) in between. The first step is recognizing your limits and we what is an issue. Banded 10/12/16
  18. Good to understand. Thanks! Banded 10/12/16
  19. I've chosen not to tell people. I use to mention when I was starting Weight Watchers or any other diet and people would ask, "should you be eating that?" or "how much weight have you lost?" I got tired of my latest diet defining how people spoke to me. If anyone asks now I tell them I'm doing Atkins / South Beach style--low carb and high Protein. I also say I'm doing everything we have all learned before such as chewing well, small portions, etc. ALL of this is true. Surgery is just another tool for me. Banded 10/12/16
  20. I'm not familiar with methadone; however I would assume the doctor who prescribes it can help guide you and your surgeon. People on this site are taking a wide variety of medications and have successful WLS. Good luck and congratulations on turning your life around in a positive direction. Banded 10/12/16
  21. @@gowalking great to know. I have my second fill on 12/27. I'm at 3 cc now. My band holds up to 10 cc. Does what we post here stay in Banders #7 or does it Trend, etc. depending on responses. Banded 10/12/16
  22. @@gowalking - Thanks Liz for the welcome. At this time I don't have any questions. I'm early in my journey. I am wanting to connect with others who have the band. I notice a lot of folks appear to have negative opinions about the band. I did a lot of research, went through a bariatric center of excellence, and have a surgeon who has performed all types of WLS for many years. I'm happy with my decision and doing well. Just looking for friends. Banded 10/12/16
