  1. Varies by surgeon and what pre-op requirements s/he has. Good luck! Banded 10/12/16
  2. @@gowalking is anyone free to join Banders #7? No sure of the guidelines of how this subforum works. Thanks. Banded 10/12/16
  3. I'm interested in learning more. Are you planning to start January 2? Banded 10/12/16
  4. I love Choco Perfection. I buy the small sugar free 39 calorie bars. http://store.chocoperfection.com/sugar-free-chocolate-bars-s/40.htm Banded 10/12/16
  5. At this stage I eat high Protein - think South Beach / Atkins style. I'm early in my weightloss phase and I need to limit my temptations. Banded 10/12/16

  7. Often family is more unkind to their family then to acquaintances. They feel they can say and do anything and be forgiven because they are related. Define how you want to be treated. The fact that you two are related doesn't give her special privileges. Banded 10/12/16
  8. Wow, my surgeon always does fills using a florascope. If you have scar tissue this bad from you gastric band surgery what makes you think you won't have scar tissue with other types of surgery? Are you planning to have a surgeon remove the current scar tissue? If the band worked for you and is still holding fills why not have the scar tissue removed, and keep the band? Banded 10/12/16
  9. So happy for you. I wish you continued success and smooth sailing. Banded 10/12/16
  10. Did you by chance barely eat all day and then have a holiday treat (sugar)? That will cause it too. I agree with what others wrote above. Banded 10/12/16
  11. I went through a bariatric center of excellence, and my surgeon and insurance required six months of classes, monthly weigh in, psych evaluation, etc. I yo yo during this period. The day of my surgery I was down 10 pounds from my first class. The nurse said the surgeon would be okay with that number, but would not accept a gain. I asked if he would have cancelled and she said, "he has before." WLS does not replace willpower, self discipline, eating healthy, etc. You won't be successful if you don't get your arms around it. Don't think, I will never have pizza again. Instead think, in the future I will be satisfied with a couple bites of pizza, ice cream, etc. You are not dying, but instead going to be reborn into a healthier you. Banded 10/12/16
  12. When I was growing up my mother would do the Rotation Diet whenever she needed to lose a few pounds. I don't know what her calorie count was, but I remember she would follow it for a week or two rotating through a three day cycle. I now do it periodically and eat 800 one day, 1000 the next and 1200 the third and then repeat the rotation. I read this article about a similar concept called intermittent fasting. One version, eat only 500 to 600 calories on two nonconsecutive days and eat normal the other days. Another option normal one day, next mini-fast, and third day only eat during certain hours. Some people are very strict six days and then take Sunday off. This type of eating plan doesn't work for everyone, especially people with diabetes, etc. I think it works for some people because is switches things up and keeps our metabolism confused. Interesting option. Banded 10/12/16
  13. @@valerie1982 This is wonderful news. Congratulations and thank you for sharing. Banded 10/12/16
  14. I'm no medical experts, but I've had success rotating my calories and or exercise. One day 800 calories, the next 1,000, the next 1200, the repeat. Same with exercise. Good luck. Banded 10/12/16
  15. I was going to post this to the nutrition forum and then it asked pre or post op. I figure this applies to all areas so I posted under general discussion I am always looking for protein recipes and on the biprousa.com website I found several different cookbooks that are free to print. I thought it would mention in case you are exploring protein recipes too. Banded 10/12/16
  16. How long is your preoperative diet? You want to shrink your liver so they can perform laproscopy versus open. Banded 10/12/16
  17. You could be....but maybe not. I felt restriction my first couple of weeks, but learned it was likely swelling. By four weeks I only had that stuck feeling if I didn't chew well enough. I'm not yet at the sweet spot, I have my second fill on 12/27. My understanding is that once I'm in the sweet spot I will feel full at between 1/4 and 1/2 cup of food per meal. In about a year at the 1 cup mark. I believe it is a feeling of fullness versus feeling something is stuck. I could be wrong... Banded 10/12/16
  18. Are you exercising? Are you eating low carb and high Protein? Are you tracking? Banded 10/12/16
  19. Yes, I believe your post is one of the ones I read. I ordered exactly what you indicated. Thanks! Banded 10/12/16
  20. @@Bufflehead thanks for sharing. Great advice as I don't want to live on supplements. Right now my weight is all the load bearing I can handle, but as soon as I get off 50 pounds I plan to expand beyond walking. The doctor believes my knees will hurt less as the weight comes off. Thanks! Banded 10/12/16
  21. I've read various comments about this book in various posts, and I'm planning to buy a copy to read on my Kindle. Anything that helps me retrain my brain to think like a thin person is appreciated. Thanks to all who mentioned so that I learned of this books existence and value to others. Banded 10/12/16
