  1. I'm sure this question has been asked before, but what are some good shake brands? I'll be having surgery in May and want to try some options now. Thanks! Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App
  2. I have an an appointment next month with my surgeon to discuss what we are going to do. Hopefully they will do bypass since it sounds like they won't do the sleeve with Barrett's Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  3. He won't even do gastric bypass? Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  4. After my EGD my surgeon said that I have this. He called in a perscription for me and scheduled an appointment to come in and speak with him in a few weeks. I was planning on having the sleeve but read that it could make it worse. Anyone out there get diagnosed with this? Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  5. You definitely lucked out. Some people have a harder time than others I suppose Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  6. My throat was really sore the day of, but the next day it got better Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  7. I had my EGD yesterday and had a biopsy on a couple of polyps. I was told that I would have a sore throat (which I did) but I was not told anything about stomach pain. It comes and goes and almost feels like bad hunger pains. Even if I eat something, I still get them. I had a horrible sore throat yesterday along with a bad headache. I tried to sleep it off, but woke up at 2 in the morning and I couldn't take it anymore. I ended up taking 600mg of Ibuprofen since I didn't have Tylenol. Woke up and my throat and head feel better but my stomach still gets random pains. Is this normal? Thought I'd ask here before calling the doctor. Thanks Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  8. EGD thank you. They said to call in a week for results. Hopefully it's all good news. But yes, I'm getting the sleeve so it will be good Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

  13. Since I've already started the process with a surgeon off post, would I even be able to switch at this point? I have already done my EKG, blood work, psych evaluation, and I have my stomach scope tomorrow morning. Don't want to have to start over, but it would be nice to go to Madigan and not my current hospital which is 35 min away Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App I would call the bariatric clinic at madigan and ask them about it. It's possible that you have already met the requirements or are close to them. Here we have to have 3 nutrition appts, 3 wellness center appts, 3 psych appts, 1 surgery orientation, and 1 bariatric support group. It sounds like a lot, but I got my referral last month and have already done the orientation, support group, and the first appointments for psych, wellness, and nutrition. I also have a 2 year old and have been able to get them all done fairly easily. What hospital are you supposed to have it at, if you aren't having it at madigan? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I go to CHI Franciscan in Federal Way. I'm going to call Madigan now and ask if it would even be worth it Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

  15. Has anyone heard of anyone getting denied for surgery because they do not have any other issues like diabetes or sleep apnea? I have heard of some insurance companies denying someone because they do not have any other issues besides being overweight. My BMI is 42 and I do not have any other health issues. I have Tricare and I'm concerned they may not approve me for those reasons. Thanks in advance Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  16. Are you doing it at Madigan?? I will be heading down for a preop soon.....looking for a peek at the preop diet Sent from my SM-G930V using the BariatricPal App I wish since we live right by Madigan. But we have Tricare standard so I go off post. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

  22. @ Lauratro, I also have the same concern and just went to my pulmonologist to try and get this persisant, cronic cough under control.Do you have acid reflux??? I think my cough is partly do to that. But for what its worth the doc said the pain meds would subside the cough. I still worry though. My doc put me on flonase, among other acid reflux meds. But one think that seems to work is a mixture of 1 tsp baking soda,1 tsp of sea salt mixed in 1 glass of distilled Water. Use a plastic syringe that the drug store will give you ( prescription area). Fill the syringe with the mixture and use,as a nasal wash. It works well to dry up the nose and mucus. I do this 2 x a day. Hope it helps. Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App I do have acid reflux, but it's not that bad. I have been to the doctor about this many times and they think it's from allergies so they gave me Claritin and a nasal spray. It never worked. I'm convinced that it has to do with acid reflux. I didn't start getting it till I started to gain weight. I have a nedi pot that I've used many times and does help a little bit. Thanks for the advice with the baking soda too. I may have to try that. Hope your doc is right about it not being as bad on meds. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  23. For years I have had a post nasal drip when I lay down at night which causes me to cough up mucus in the middle of the night and first thing in the morning. I have tried many different things and I can not get rid of it. I'm probably being paranoid and thinking way ahead, but I'm worried about having to cough after I have surgery and having complications. Has anyone else had any similar issue? Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
  24. I am not going to have surgery till next year and need to lose some weight. Who has tried WW and how did it work for you? I just signed up today. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
