Care after surgery
Thank you everyone for the advice. I'm hoping that if I have 3 weeks of help and then after that I do the minimum lifting I'll be okay. My son is 20 lbs as of now. I'll talk it over with my doctor too Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

Care after surgery
I have heard that for about 6 weeks after surgery you can not lift anything over 15 lbs. I have a 1 year old and we live in a different state than my family. My husband will be able to take off about a week of work and then I will have my mom for a week and then stepmom the week after that. So I will have 3 weeks of someone being able to lift our son when needed. I'm worried I won't be able to get help for the last 3 weeks of recovery. Anyone else have to go through this? Can't decide which surgery
I am having a hard time deciding on which surgery to do. I'm stuck betweengastric bypass and the sleeve. I'm 31 and have a BMI of 43. I do not have diabetes or any health issues other than being overweight. I want to lose a great amount of weight and keep it off, but I'm afraid with gastric bypass that I will lose too fast and have saggy skin. Another concern is if I go with the sleeve, I will not be able to control what I eat and eat sweets and carbs. With gastric bypass I feel that dumping could be a good thing to help control what goes in your body. My surgeon and I narrowed it down to these two, but ultimately it is my decision. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

Sounds like I'm in the same boat as you. I have Standard so I have to go off post. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App Yes I do. I'm in VA beach Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I am at Eustis. I am just starting the bariatric program at Portsmouth. Before I received my referral, I considered going standard and through the bariatric program at Sentara. I went to the orientation last week and see the surgeon on the 10th. There is a facebook group, I believe it is called Weight loss surgery with tricare. All of the women in that group are so helpful! They explained the entire process to me beforehand, so that I'd have a greater understanding of tricare and the bariatric programs. There are locals in there too. One just had the surgery in July and she is standard. She is very helpful and helps me with all of my questions. She went through sentara. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App I'll have to look up that page. Thanks for sharing! Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App Yes, we definitely should start a page! Mexico
My husband and I were planning a trip to Mexico next year, however it would be the month before my surgery. Does anyone know if it's okay to be in another country right before surgery? I plan on sending my surgeon a message on Monday, but I wanted to see if anyone on here knows anything about this. Thanks in advance. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

I'm Standard and we are also at JBLM! So I have all my appointments off post Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App Its so easy through Prime here, you do all your appts at Madigan as well as the surgery. Where is your surgeon located off post? I wish we had Prime because I hear it's easier and I've heard great things about Madigan. We actually live like 2 min from it. I'm going to CHI Franciscan Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

That's awesome! I hope its that smooth for me. However, I have to do a 6 month nutrition plan before surgery Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App That must be a requirement from your surgeon's office. Unless Tricare South in different. I live in Texas, stationed at Laughlin AFB Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Yeah it must be. We just moved from Fort Hood Texas to Fort Lewis Washington Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App
