I'm so thankful for everyone who commented, it genuinely made me feel much better knowing that it is a common thing that most of us who did the surgery went through it too. It's honestly so comforting to have a forum like this to constantly talk about my experiences with the surgery to people who are either going or have already gone through the exact same things as me.
I will be looking forward to completing my 2 weeks so start feeling better.
    Thanks again everyone!

In addition to the rigors of feeling crappy in the immediate post-op days/weeks, post-surgical depression is pretty common:

The nurse practitioner at my clinic told me that many patients experience a form of postpartum depression. There is so much leading up to it and then you wake up from surgery and don’t feel any different and that can be troubling to some. Plus, I know my hormones went Sorta crazy for a while there after surgery. If it’s troubling reach out to your team though and possibly a therapist if necessary just to talk through your feelings.

I'm pre-op still and can only speak from personal experience, but I think this is very common. There is a lot of shame and stigma attached to WLS, all of which is completely unnecessary. The idea that it is a last resort and that patients have "failed" at all other attempts prior to WLS, makes it seem like it is somehow a copout. But that really is not the truth. It is a tool, just like diets and pills and fasts and everything else and there is NO shame in putting another tool in your toolbelt to help you be healthy and well. (I'm of course not comparing WLS to these other methods, just explaining that they are all "tools" and should not carry inherent shame.) All that being said, you did what you needed to do for your won health and well being. Its completely ok and completely normal to question it, especially so early on. But give yourself lots of grace and be patient. It WILL get better and you ARE worth it.

many of us have "buyer's remorse" the first couple of weeks after surgery, but it soon fades. I regretted it the first couple of weeks, too - but it quickly passed and I soon released it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I have read that in the immediate post-op period, regret is really common, but it gets better. Definitely talk to your surgery team and a therapist if possible. My surgery center warned us that we may feel sadness at giving up food as a coping mechanism. Maybe that is part of what is going on for you?
I am sorry you're struggling. I hope it gets better soon!!

Sorry to hear you are feeling this way. It may be real regret but keep in mind that your body just went through a significant surgery and everything, including your hormones, may be out of whack for a while, making your feelings even worse.
I’m just over 6 months post op and can honestly say that the first two weeks post op were the hardest. Once the pain stopped and I could move on to soft foods, everything changed for me snd seemed so much better.
It may be worth speaking to your surgeon, op team or a therapist to help talk through what your feeling and going through right now.
You made a really brave decision to go ahead with the surgery and you are on your way to a healthier you!! You may just need some time to heal and start to see the difference to remember why you wanted this surgery for so long and see how great this journey can be.
Take care and I recommend surrounding yourself with really supportive friends and family to help you get through this phase, that will hopefully pass soon

My highest recorded weight was 392 (in 2017). I was 389 when I started the program to have WLS and since my program required a 6 month monitored weight loss I lost 68 pounds during that time and was 321 on my surgery day. I'm currently 178 pounds. For reference... I had the Loop Duodenal Switch/SADI-S/SIPS surgery. It's a gastric sleeve stomach, just with the added intestinal bypass bit.

I was lower but I was headed that way if I went enough years without the surgery. I was very thin until I was around 25 years old and had the onset of bipolar disorder. Between the depression and the meds my weight became a huge struggle and despite many diets I always seemed to gain year after year. I always thought when I finally got the right meds and was stable that I would be able to lose some weight but that was not the case. I called my gynocologist and asked for a weight history and it trended up year after year despite some quite significant losses in between. I never could keep it off. Gained it all back plus some each year. The only thing I had going for me was I only gained weight for 16 years and then I had the surgery.

There’s pain & there’s pain. Towards the end of the first week most if not all the surgical pain requiring strong pain meds tends to have passed. But you may still experience discomfort, twinges, & short, sharp stabs of pain. Yes, the pain across your chest could be from drinking too quickly & putting strain on your healing tummy (remember all those stitches & staples holding your tummy together). Burping is likely also putting stress on your tummy pressuring the tender muscles & forcing your oesophageal sphincter to open. Watch swallowing too much air as you sip & sip slowly. It could also be oesophageal spasms. As @Jodikins67 suggested warm drinks like herbal or green tea & heating pads can helps. It can also be the surgical gas which can take a week or more to escape your body. It can also be muscle strain from where your muscles were expanded & stretched during surgery.
The itchy wound sites can be from healing (of the wound itself but also nerve endings) but if you notice redness, a discharge, swelling, a smell call you doctor or go to the hospital as it could be an infection.
Many say they struggle to sleep on their side or tummy for a short while after surgery. Don’t know if it’s starting weight related or just one of those things.
Good luck & congrats on your surgery.

I had surgery June 22nd. I had pain that I thought was gas….it got pretty intense. It was actually spasms in my pouch and esophagus. I drank warm peppermint tea and used a heating pad on my upper stomach and chest. Pain was totally gone in 1 week. Good luck!!!!

That chest pain can come if you consume "too much". You'll learn to recognize your new "full" sensation and stop consuming IMMEDIATELY. A bite or two more can cause pain.
When sleeping on your back your stomach and other organs press on your lungs which lie closer to your back. can This can give you the feeling of being unable to breathe. Lying supine is probably not the best position for you until you lose a significant portion of your weight..
Try sleeping on your side with a pillow under your belly. This prevents pressure and straining on your incisions and supports the weight of your belly. Hold that pillow over your belly when you are getting up, too.
Some patients like to use a belly band to prevent jiggling.
Gently rubbing Vitamin E oil on your incisions can help the itching and encourage healing.

Try different temperatures until you find what your new body likes. I'm still pre-op, but I'm practicing tiny sips for post-op. I find I can drink a lot more Water if it's chilled but not ice-cold. Try room temperature and warm, too. Good luck!

Sip, always have a liquid in eyesight and reach, sip, drink a variety of liquids, sip, ice chips or sugar-free ice pops, sip.
If you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated.
Some people go to the extreme and set alarms to remind them to drink. I don't go to that extent. Some people have a favorite glass, bottle, mug, etc that encourages them to drink more.
If your urine is really dark, you should see a doctor because there might be something else going on. Sometimes weight loss and a drastic reduction in calories can be dangerous for people with kidney disease.

It gets easier each and every day. I had to go back to hospital as an out patient, though, just to get a couple of bags of fluids to get me over the hump one time and after that I was good. Just know that is an option. I called my clinic and told them my urine was dark and they made an appointment right away. It wasn’t a big deal at all and it fixed me right up. 😂

Ok so straight to the point... I'm dead scared from the anesthesia part of the OP... I have my initial appointment with the surgeon next week and he will evaluate when I can be sleeved... So I've had a kidney stone like 5 years back and the doctor said that they can extract it from my penis (excuse my language) but to do so I have to be put on anesthesia so at first I agreed and I met with the anesthesia specialist as part of the procedure to learn more about it and that was the day this trauma and severe phobia was born in me after he started explaining to me how difficult it is to keep me alive while I'm asleep and how high the chances are that I could have a stroke and die... I'm a little over 440lbs now (200kg) and 32 years old. I have finally taken the decision to be sleeved because I know for a fact that if I don't, my chances of living more than 6-7 years ahead are very less so this is my last resort. Told my wife about it and she's super excited too (of course).
Please help me out with my phobia, tell me what is true and what is not and whether I should really be all that concerned about the anesthesia and if it is true then what precautions should be taken while I'm asleep and what should be done during the OP?
    Thanks in advance!
