Depends on your own personal situation but the bypass is the more aggressive and better for long term weight loss. There numerous pages to read but one thing I must say is SLEEVE can cause reflux or GERD where bypass will fix it and many patient's end up having to be converted from SLEEVE to bypass anyway.
I'm choosing bypass because it will help me as it's more restrictive and reduces absorption of calories but there's alot of scientific information out there! So Goodluck!

Your experience was horrendous and that nurse should be fired.Shes supposed to show you support and not degrade you or your family.
Please notify the hospital director and your surgeon as i am sure that he will want to make sure that never happens to one of his patients again..
My daughter is a nurse and would be mortified if I or anyone she was caring for were treated like you were.
I had the sleeve and I am waiting for approval for the bigger full bypass surgery.
I hope you and your family don't think every one is like that nasty woman.
    Good luck to you.

I had great weight loss with the VSG I hit goal in roughly 7-8months and kept it off for almost 3 yrs but the complications started causomg lots of issues. My sleeve was stretched by a non bariatric hi doc because it and my distal esophagus were very narrowed with inflammation. I loat that restriction at that point. I couldnt live with that.

Call the hospital and ask to speak to the director of nursing. I cannot believe that she is getting away with it. Because you know that it is not just you that she’s treated that way, and will continue to do unless stopped!! At the very least, she should be fired and/or arrested for a hate crime.

Ohmyword. I’m so sorry you were treated so badly! She needs to be reported ASAP. This cannot be tolerated! My heart is aching for the emotional & physical pain you are in. What is wrong with people ?!?!?

Report the nurse to the hospital. Be clear and succinct in your feedback as well what you would like to occur...eg cultural sensivity and/or patient-customer service training for the nurse etc.

My goodness, you are really struggling. I am so sorry. .I am having my sleeve surgery in 13 days. I feel like it's my only hope.
Although weight loss is a super big bonus for me it's about getting my health on track and off over Half the meds I am taking.
Are you doing your Protein Drinks? ?That should give you energy. MAYBE you should talk to the nutritionist. .
Have you lost some weight? ?
Maybe you should see your Dr.too if you're not on antidepressant maybe you should consider it for a while.
Gosh , I hope things get better for you.
Good luck and just keep your chin up.
Set small goals and focus on the end result not so much on what foods your currently missing.
I know easier said than done and I have not experienced it yet but this is a lifestyle change not a quick fix .
    Again best of luck. .

I am 13 out from getting the surgery, so glad you posted today.
We're you anxious B4 surgery? I am not worried about the actual surgery, just about how I am going to deal with drinking small amounts of fluids after surgery. I am so used to drinking constantly and always thirsty.
But it's great to see someone doing so well.
    Good luck with your journey!

Even though it was a million years ago now (ok, slight exaggeration - 8.5 years, lol), it's COMPLETELY natural. Drinking every meal is NOT natural. BUT, remember that you have a teeny tiny pouch right now and while you might be tempted to eat something, you could cause yourself a lot of physical pain or damage if you do.

Honestly, I remember how difficult it was, but after you get through this, you'll realize you were a lot tougher than you thought you were.

I think it would be awesome to find other WLS survivors in our areas to meet up with for advice, support and maybe even clothing swaps. You wouldnt have to be tbe only one ordering broth at a resturant. Lol
If your interested, post your location (and a major metro if you are in the boonies and willing to travel a bit) and we can start to make IRL friends.
    What do you think?

I’m only a week out from surgery (surgery date 10/4/16) and already SO glad that I did this. We all have our “last straw” things that really helped us make the decision to change our health for the better. Mine was knee surgery in April of this year. Full tear of the ACL and bucket handle tear of the meniscus… surgery was tough and recovery/PT wasn’t easy either. Even with PT I was still having a hard time getting around (lots of muscle stiffness/limping). It made me realize that my knees can’t take my obesity anymore and I needed to do something about it. Well, the blood clot cuff squeezy thing they put on you during/after surgery did something to help relieve my muscle stiffness in my calf and the walking I had to do the day/night of surgery was the easiest walking I’ve done in MONTHS! I’m one week out, about 13 lbs down and walking around is so much easier already!! I can’t wait to get back to walking the track during my son’s Lacrosse practice and doing 5ks!

My experience with weight loss and men is yes they do lose weight faster than women. No matter what diet or exercises they do. NOT FAIR, lol but do what surgeon and dietitian tells you and be amazed. Not sure if guy's get what they call a 3 week stall like the women do but don't get discouraged if it happens. ..
