    Hey y'all!!
Long time, no talk - training for a half marathon and work has been insane lately!
My two year surgiversary was November 20th, and I tried on my old Cotton Ball dress because it was hanging in my closet, lol. (Cotton Ball is a southern cotillion ball - traditional thing with debutantes, etc. - I was 17 when I did it).
Left is from my wedding <3 that dress is a size 28; the one on the right is a size 8 (I'm a 6 generally, but bridal does run small!)

I love that you posted this because I was having a hard time finding people who were going to have the sleeve that were 450+. I'm due for surgery in January and I'm 475 right now. Great to see read everyone's posts!

So I am just about 7 months out since my surgery. I can honestly and easily say this surgery was the absolute best decision of my life. My highest weight was 433 lbs and my surgery weight I was 396. I am now down to 230 lbs even with a total weight loss of 203 pounds. Anyone having any doubts about this surgery all I can say is do it!! I was terrified but it was the best thing I've ever done

    Wait, whuuuuuuut?

There is a BIG difference between creating your own path by eating what you choose to eat on/off plan both pre and post op and eating something that could potentially cause serious health risks 3 or 5 days post op.
I really don't give a rat's patoot if you choose to eat a cupcake, a pizza, a taco or an entire pan of brownies if you so desire once you are cleared for all foods. That said, I am certainly not going to help you justify that behavior, especially if you know it's a poor choice and you are looking for permission to make said choices.

If you are on liquids or mushies and eating pork chops and swedish fish and come here looking for validation or a stamp of approval? It's probably not going to happen.
If it's working for you, AWESOME! I can make poor choices, too, at 3.5 years out because I learned good habits along the way by sticking to my doc's PRESCRIBED diet.
But that's just me. It says so in my signature.

Hey ladycrank. I totally understand your situation, as I was absolutely unable to fit into a CT Scan machine early last year when I had a blood clot in my leg, I was pretty bummed out about it. Fast forward a year and a half later and I've worked to lose 120 pounds and finally last week when I went in for the Pre-Op Upper GI scan, I was able to fit into the CT Scan machine just fine. I couldn't dance in it but the doctor said all the pictures came out great. I truly feel blessed.
Good luck to you, I know we can all do this!
Don't look back, turn the page, and let your next chapter begin!

As a side note? On the titanium thing... Most of my skull is titanium from brain surgery. I told my husband that when I die, he needs to pull those plates out. My head is worth more than my house. I'll tell him about the staples, too.

I'm gonna put this disclaimer up first: I'm almost 5 weeks out from surgery and am NOT thinking about drinking now or anytime in the near future.
    That being said...
My NUT told me that after getting the sleeve, one's alcohol tolerance is really low. I don't drink very much...a drink at Christmas, a drink out at dinner with friends, etc. So, not drinking right now is no biggie at all. However, I'm curious, if and when I have a drink at some point down the road, how much of a lightweight will I be? Are we talking one sip of a Fuzzy Naval and I'm stripping my clothes off and licking the bar top? How bad is it?

ladycrank reacted to laceemouse in Sleeved 4 Days ago. So many questions
I haven't had my surgery yet but I have researched enough to know that you will be able to eat again, in small amounts, but it is going to take weeks or even months. And some people never eat carbs again (either they don't sit well or they don't lose weight when they eat them)
As far as the discomfort I think that is normal but I would call my surgeon if I was really concerned.
I have a suggestion for you, go to YouTube and search for VSG, WLS, etc. There are HUNDREDS of people who make videos about their journey. They will explain how they felt, complications, what they are able to eat when, etc. VERY informative.

As the saying goes, I was fast, cheap and easy. There is a country song by Tim McGraw called where the Green Grass Grows. There is a line in the lyrics about another supper from a sack, a 99 cent heart attack. That is definitely the direction I was headed. There is no way in hell I want to try anything that is going to jeopardize my future.

I'm definitely curious why you think it's a good idea to try fries and chips' and fried breaded foods and popcorn and soda and bread and rice....
    (...phew...)
    ...at five months out.
Interesting choices for sure! And twice a week! You're much braver than I was.
I wasn't perfect by any means but I certainly didn't want to find foods that I could tolerate that landed me in a WLS doctor's office in the first place.

Please please call the Dr. I just lost a friend who was recovering from back surgery. Her legs were swelling. She called the Drs office , they told her to walk. She died from a clot. Please seek medical treatment. In all the paperwork we signed about possible complications it talks about leg swelling and contacting the Dr office

You guys are all so supportive!
So I had my own version of a "food funeral" a couple days ago. I had purchased a new rifle and was headed out to the mountains to sight it in. On the way out there I stopped to get fuel and decided to get a bottle of Water. While in the gas station I noticed the Coke-a-cola cooler and thought about how much of that I used to drink. Sometimes I'd have up to three cans of it at a meal. So I thought why not have a little symbolism of not letting those things have any grip on me anymore. So I bought a 20oz coke. Then I pulled into McDonalds and bought a bigmac. Once I made it up to the mountains I sighted in the new rifle and set out the soda and the bigmac. I also set up my GoPro. Stood back and took a shot at the soda, it literally exploded. Same thing when I shot the Big Mac. It actually looked like it was raining Big Mac for a few seconds. Felt pretty good to get some kind of closure, to actually say, "no, I am not going to give into this drug called "junk food" anymore!" It is so much like a drug, I think these foods are engineered to make you want them more and more. Then I went up to my GoPro and hadn't pressed record. Bummer, I was looking forward to sharing my "food funeral" video with you all.
This morning I weighed in at 50lbs down. That's a nice mile stone to hit! Many more to go! This was also my first day back at work. Not like a real work day as I headed out of town for a business trip. Now I'm several hours from home staying in a hotel. Brought a cooler full of foods that are okay for my stage of the post op diet. Still one of my coworkers wanted to go out to dinner, heck employer is footing the bill so why not. Went to a nice seafood restaurant, I got a cup of clam chowder and only had about a 1/4 cup of the broth before I felt full. Not the best food selection as chowder is a bit high in fat content, but it was a decision I can live with. No ill effects. I'm on the purée stage so it was something that was on my list from the nutritionist that I could have as long as I steered clear of the chunks which I did.
Tomorrow I'm going to try and hunt down some scrambled eggs for Breakfast and will probably work on a Protein shake for lunch. Then I'll have to decide if I stay in for dinner or go out again.

So I was talking to someone today about the Gastric Bypass surgery and she had it about 8 years ago. She just kept telling me well you know your going to have loose skin. A lot of it. I'm just telling you because a lot of pool don't think they will. But you will have a lot of loose skin. Ok lady thank you I heard you the 14 th time. I know I will have loose skin but I would rather have loose skin then not be able to fit in a seat comfortable , or go to movies with out having to have a seat in between my spouse and I so I have room. I can't wait to get on a plane or hell even plan a trip and not care about getting on the plane because of how tiny the seats are. Trust me I love how beautiful I am . I know I'm a really pretty woman but this weight has to go. Loose skin or not.

3 1/2 hours?? You're a saint for sitting through that! My psych eval was this past Friday and was barely 30 minutes. I was happy I got it out of the way, but now feel like I got skimped on lol oh well. I passed the psych test and my final nutritionist appointment is October 3rd, then just have to wait for insurance to give me the ok to schedule!

@@Aleathia, I'm not totally liquids -- 3 Premier Protein a day, black coffee, 1/2 cup fruit/veggies a day and a trifling amount of carbs. Unlimited Clear Liquids, Jell-O, and fat free broth.

I bought Syntax (sp?) unflavored Protein Powder for afterwards to mix into food. I forget what their active ingredient is, but I heard some people become lactose intolerant after surgery, and this doesn't have that ingredient. I am stocked up on shakes for pre/post op, but didn't go too crazy.
I weighed myself and put a yearly reminder on my phone that this is my starting weight and day 1 of liquids. I hope it's a motivational reminder every year to keep plugging and check my progress. I think I want to journal about this, too, in hopes of really nailing my food triggers/emotional stuff to make lasting changes.
My closet has been organized by descending size since March, when my surgery in June was initially booked. Sooooo freaking excited to purge clothes and streamline to a few stylish basics -- and a thinner face, no double chins, and increased energy -- hell, looking forward to ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!!!
