Some people mentioned the Vitamin Patches. You wear them for at least 8 hrs. I think I'm going to try those until I can handle the oral ones

I was sleeved Dec. 14, and gained FIFTEEN pounds after surgery. I've only lost about 5 of it so far. I think krakkerman is right. I've got to get serious about walking.

Ok. This settles it for me. There is too much drama, rudeness and thinskinnedness (if that's a word) around here. It was very helpful before surgery. Just about every question I had about the surgery, healing, and life after surgery had already been covered. I learned so much and felt like I really knew what I was getting into. For that I thank you all. Now, I just don't feel the support. I might as well be at a family dinner where the subject of politics comes up. No fun. I have found a couple of good groups on fb. Some are private, some aren't. I've seen a few of you on those sites. I think that will work better for me. But I think it's important for all of us that we find support and accountability in the 'real' face to face world. I will be seeing a psychologist and attending the local support group. I've noticed thst people I know who have gained weight back have not done that. They have not addressed their relationship with food. I think that will be critical for me. I wish you all the best. Find what works for you, and be self aware. You know when you're BSing yourself, or looking for unwarranted justification. But that's an area of real need. If you truly have not had struggles through your journey, that's pretty amazing. Most of us have resorted to this step because of our inability to lose weight and eat reasonably by sheer determination alone. The patterns and improper relationship with food are deeply ingrained. Socongratulations on your success and thank you for the encouragement. Be well, be determined, and for goodness sake, be kind.

Oikos Triple Zero Greek Yogurt. Zero fat, zero extra sugar (besides what is naturally in the fruit). The carbs are within my surgeon's requirements and *drumroll* it has 15 grams of Protein.

Good for you for not beating up on yourself. You're already focused on getting it done tomorrow. I'm only 11 days post surgery, and I've already had a day like you describe. I just couldn't face all that Protein. I decided to give in to it for one day. Luckily liquids aren't a problem for me, and I did get a shake in and all my Water. I told myself this was one day and I got back up the next day and have done well since. I wrote out what I was going to eat the next day, and was sure to start the day with a 30gm shake. This got me back on track. It sounds to me like you are back on track as well.

CherCare reacted to dmia in Ins Denied my Revision... help!
I am in the process of trying to get my lap band removed and revised to the sleeve. My insurance company was agreeable and said that I needed to have another psyche eval and 3 mos of nutritional counseling, with which I did comply. My insurance company is First Choice through the ILWU... which is fantastic insurance, but they referred this claim out to Innovation Care Management for review. I have had my band for 6 years and I initially lost 70 lbs. and pretty much stayed at about a 60 lb loss until about a year ago. I had only a little over 3cc of Fluid in my band and could barely eat any solid food.... mostly Soups, shakes... nothing with any substance. My reflux is off the charts, having to sleep propped and taking the strongest dosage of meds twice daily. I can't eat much of any solid food without it coming back up. I had pretty much had convinced myself that this was the way my life was going to be , but after a conversation with dr. he came to the conclusion that my band had failed. After my consideration, I have chosen to have the sleeve, however my BMI is just at 35. While waiting for my approval, all of the fluid was removed from my band to help me heal before surgery. I have been able to eat a little better, but still not a lot of solid food. My reflux is pretty much the same.... I have gained 20 pounds and my blood pressure is vasilating and my BMI is rising . I was anxiously waiting to get my approval for surgery. The ICM doctor said since I was managing with the unfilled band, its better for me to just live with it like it is! My doctor had a peer to peer conversation with him and I still was denied! I need to file an appeal.... I read on here where someone had some info regarding appeals... letters, etc. Can you help a girl out? What a way to spend the holidays! Thanks!

I overdid yesterday and was wiped out. Slept late and just couldn't get myself to go heavy on Protein. So now it's 4:30 and I've only had about 4 grams. I guess it will be 2 premier shakes and run to the restroom all night. Planning is important for success, and today I didn't do it.

That's wonderful. I'm one who gained weight after surgery. Fifteen pounds! I'm one week out and have lost 9 of that. I'm not letting myself get depressed, but your great success gives me hope. Thanks for sharing.

You might try Oikos Triple Zero yogurt. 15 grams of Protein, 120 cals, no added fat or extra sugars other than those naturally occurring. Even has 9 grams of Fiber. I've only been able to find 2 flavors, but some of the other flavors sound delish

This is Day 6 and I have gained 15 pounds. My blood pressure went dangerously low. They helped combat that with extra fluids. I know in my mind this will change, but it's frustrating. Hoping it goes down some by the time I see my surgeon in 18 days.
Your progress is wonderful. Just stick with your plan, and be proud of any loss you have. You're doing gread!

Surgery in less than 2 hours. I feel calm and like I'm bathed in prayer. So grateful for all the people in my life who support this decision.
Also, I feel thirsty. Very very thirsty! I've usually had 40 or more oz of Water by now.

Are you seeing a psychologist or attending a support group? Face to face, not just online. My surgery isn't until Wednesday, but I will be using both of those to help me transition to a healthier attitude about food.
Identify healthy choices and have nothing else around. Find some behaviour to do when the urges come to redirect you. You can't extinguish a behavior without replacing it with another. I'm going to try some deep breathing, stretching and/or Bible verse affirmations when the time comes.
You are sabotaging yourself. Deep down could you view yourself as unworthy of being happy and healthy? That's a lie. You are a beautiful creation, fearfully and wonderfully made. God desires good things and joy in your life. Let a psychologist help you with these feelings.
Are you having a hard time letting go of what you feel has been your best friend? That is another lie. food is not a friend. It is fuel to help your body stay and get healthy. The sleeve is going to help you regain control over food and no longer be enslaved. You have to be willing to feel the emotions you've been trying to hide from.
I sound so strong on these points because I've been saying them to myself for weeks. I know I am a candidate to be right where you are. I'm writing down all the great things I'll be able to do once I get healthy. I'll have it ready to read when those challenges come. Neither you nor I want to find ourselves in a position of... not just regaining weight, but having to deal with the regret, self loathing, and hopelessness that would bring.
We can do this! I'll be praying for you.
Once again, sorry for the rant.
