Drink one cup as soon as you get out of bed, pee and brush. Drink a second cup within the half hour. Right there you've got a good percentage of the day's goal. Getting the rest in will be much easier.

    Hello everyone!
So on Wednesday night i went to the WLS info session after researching and contemplating and being discouraged by 2 PCPs. I got all my paperwork in on the same night and now I have to wait to be called about setting up my 3 appointment. I am SO excited, after 20ish years of every diet, excersize plan and fad I will finally (hopefully) see some real results.
Looking forward to being nosey and hearing all about everyone's journey

Tomorrow I report to the hospital at 6 am to be sleeved. I spent time today getting a pep talk from a colleague who had the surgery a year ago. I have family support.
Now I just need to suck it up and lunge forward. Nervous but excited at the same time.

You will definitely get great support here! I'm being very selective about who I tell that I'm having surgery. I don't want any negative Nellies ruining this for me.

Your sister only wants you to experience pain and miserable parts of the surgery? How messed up is that?
Best of luck with your surgery. Since you don't have support at home you will have to build your own support network. Your bariatric team and BariatricPal are great places to start. You may also want to attend bariatric support group meetings. See if your surgeon's office or the person who does your psych clearance can suggest a good therapist.
Keep us posted on how you are doing.

I just had my first consultation appointment on 8-8-16 which they said what would be beneficial for me is get the sleeve and then later get the RNY and seen my dietitian the same day. I've scheduled my cardiology appointment and education class appointment as well. I've called to schedule my psychology appointment but nothing yet (they haven't called me back 3rd time calling them) so far all my appointments are in September. I have to lose 20 pounds in four months before they will consider me. Which I'm nervous about. It's not impossible. I've already loss 4lbs before this appointment. I pray I can keep this going. So as for support my family I don't have any. My sister had it done a year ago but had the Rny not the sleeve. You would think she would be supportive but she says she only wants me to experience the pain and the miserable parts of the surgery. I medically need a tool to help me with my weight. My sister told me she done her surgery for preventive measures not a necessity like what I need it for. So I didn't tell her I am going to get the surgery. So the people I did tell I went back a told them I wasn't having it. So I stand alone. I'll keep you all posted.

blue8eyes reacted to Original Poster in Approved and got my date! November 14th!
I've been doing the standard insurance required hoop jumping since June...
I have Humana National POS, which required 1 nutrition visit with an RD, and 3 additional weight loss visits. My plan stated the 3 WL visits could be done with an MD, NP, PA, CNM/OB, or RD. My surgeon's office employees an RD, so for convenience I stayed there. Luckily, I could do the nutrition visit and first WL visit on the same day. The ironic thing about these WL visits was that I couldn't lose weight bc the RD was afraid I would not be approved. My starting BMI was 41.
I also had to have 9 labs (cbc, hgb a1c, H pylori, tsh, cmp, Vitamin D, iron/tibc, and lipids), an EKG, upper GI and psych eval.
I finished my last RD visit on 9/16, was submitted to insurance on 9/20. They told me it would take ~ 2-4 weeks to receive approval, but I received word I was approved in less than 20 hours on the 21st!!! Couldn't believe it. The coordinator said my chart would then go to the finance manager and I'd hear from the surgery scheduler by the beginning of next week. Imagine my surprise when she called me less than 24 hours later!
I just knew that I'd get a date someone in October since everything was going so quickly... I was pretty disappointed when she told me the earliest date I could have surgery was 11/14. Apparently, my surgeon usually does surgery at Emory most days, and only comes to my hospital once a month...October is already booked.
Nonetheless, it's okay!! I'll just have a bit longer to lose as much as I can before surgery =)
I've been quite the lurker and this is my first post. I'm usually pretty quiet =)

Holy crap! I can't believe how fast this process has been. I saw my surgeon for my very first visit 7.25.16. Now October 6th is my surgery date. Wow. It flew by... I never thought in a Million years I'd ever consider surgery. I kept saying I'd work it off and I did at one point lose 70 lbs on my own. Then I got pregnant and gained 80. Since then I just can't get ahead of it. I'm now 330lbs (did i just share that with a bunch of strangers??).
I go in and out of mixed emotions but I'm so Ready. I'm actually looking forward to the liquid diet. I want to cleanse my system. I'm sure that'll change a few days in!!
Well here goes nothing!!! Life changes and permanent solutions!

My stats are similar to yours, with the exception of age. Im 48. 5'5" and at surgery was 227. @@kelliev2015 hit the nail on the head as I too am waiting to feel awful....i actually feel TOO good cuz it makes me think I can do way more than I should. I literally have to keep reminding myself that I had surgery 5 days ago and to not lift, not exercise and just take it easy. I am beginning to believe that how you go into it mentally has a lot to do with how you recover. That being said, there are certainly people out there who have complications and other medical issues that can make this recovery difficult, Im not minimizing that at all. But i do believe that if other than your weight, you are basically healthy and you go into it with a positive attitude, your recovery will be easier than you think. 6 days out...ZERO pain, ZERO nausea, just some occasional uncomfortable gas bubbles. Im still having a difficult time getting my Water in, but literally every day, i notice an improvement.
