  1. hang in there. I personally don't have an appetite yet. I did on Mon & Tues when I had the bowel prep. I was banded on 4/23.
  2. IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) is a condition in which you may have either diarrhea OR constipation. Stress usually compounds the symptoms of IBS. I have been diagnosed with it before, but my symptoms have subsided. I am doing the preop bowel prep & I had an EXPLOSIVE BM tonight. Couldn't even make it to the RESTROOM. How embarrassing, huh?
  3. Wednesday April 23 is my surgery date. I didn't really think I would be as nervous/scared/wishy-washy as I am right now. Is it just me who worries I WON'T wake up from anesthesia.
  4. Any UNJURY drinkers out there? STRAWBERRY SORBET, yum yum!! You just click on their website & order which ever flavor your little taste buds desire. I'm partial to STRAWBERRY SORBET, cause that's the only flavor I've tried in the UNJURY. I also like the 100% wHEY protein (chocolate). I blend my drinks w/ 8 oz skim milk & ice cubes to make drink seem like a SHAKE. The UNJURY drinks I enjoy I can credit to my dietician at the BARIATRIC CENTER. She gave me the first sample I ever tried of UNJURY & that hooked me. coltorismom
  5. One of the things the therapist at the Bariatric Center told me was that many of their bariatric patients, when they go out to eat. With their order, they ask the server to bring them a carryout box & when the food comes, she goes ahead & puts all BUT a small portion in the carryout box. I thought, If we had thought of that to begin with, we wouldn't NEED the band! Great idea. Saves money, cooking, time & energy, too. Sounds good to me. Hope this helps! coltorismom
  6. How long do you have to wear that PORT? Is that awkward? Could you still take good care of your family after a day or so?
  7. So, have you been swollen? Are you very sore? Are you able to walk, move around, do your housework, take care of your family. coltorismom
  8. What is your BMI/weight, if I may ask? Did your dr just not put you on a preop diet? look forward to your reply. coltorismom
  9. You are human & so am I. I am scheduled for 4/23 & I am very nervous!! Could anybody tell me what is the level of soarness (on a scale of 1 to 10). Those of you already banded, were you terribly tender, soar, & in agonizing pain. That is MUCH of what I will be nervous about. We're all in this together. We are going to make it through, especially with the LORD's help.
  10. We live in Ky & UNITED HEALTHCARE did NOT require me to do a 6 mos weight management. PRAISE GOD. Hope it is the same for you.
  11. united healthcare seems to be God-sent insurance where bariatric surgery is concerned. That's what we have & so far everything has gone smoothly. All the nurses & docs throughout this process have told me how blessed I am. One of many blessings to think God for. My surgery is scheduled for April 23. I'll let you know.
  12. Yes, you heard right. I am on that liquids only liver shrinking diet & I must confess I CHEATED today for the 1st & hopefully last time. Maybe it won't hurt me too bad, if I stay strong from now until April 23. I had a bean & chs burrito from TUMBLEWEED. Didn't taste as good as it used to. I have had bronchitis for a week. Agony! Did you all feel so scared before your surgery? I am really getting more scared as the day fastly approaches. Pray for me.
  13. I have been on my liquid diet since April 10 & my surgery is the 23rd. I have also been sick with bronchitis since April 10. Today, however, when I got out of the pulmonary dr's office (i passed with flying colors) I went to tumbleweed & had a bean burrito. This is the first thing I've had since last week. Wonder how bad it will hurt? Getting a lot of second thoughts about surgery.
  14. Hey brothers & sisters! Glad to know DIAMOND that you are a Joyce Meyer fan. YOU ROCK!! I met Joyce at a book signing 3 years ago. She is SO awesome. Much of my spiritual growth I can attribute to her POWERFUL teaching. As I heard a little boy say, "My PEDIASURE makes me grow!!" Joyce is my Pediasure!!! I have an appointment at the bariatric center for an evaluation tomorrow (thurs) morning. Be much in prayer!! I am excited/nervous!! May the Lord's will be done!!! In response to my bro or sis who asked the AUTISM question. My son is 11 & my daughter is 7. And yes, I did see that on CNN. Did you see the Lifetime movie a few years ago (Melissa Gilbert, Patty Duke) about the autistic boy who communicated on a computer & ratted out his sexual abuser. Praise the LORD! Go buy more KLEENEX-- I BOOOOOOO-HOOOOOD!!! 1 PETER 5:8 TAME THAT LION!!!! (YOU'VE SEEN THE LAP-BAND COMMERCIAL, RIGHT. I thought, how appropriate to use a LION in the commercial!! I'm not where I need to be, BUT thank GOD I'm not where I used to be!! Praise God!! (a little joyce meyer imput). smiles & hugs coltorismom
  15. Hey brothers & sisters, I recently attended a lapband seminar on 02/01/08. Bariatric surgery for morbid obesity is covered by our insurance company, else I wouldn't even consider it. After watching the lapband commercial (or as I call it the 1 Peter 5:8 commercial). I kept thinking "She sounds just like me--always hungry." However, NOW as I am talking to other friends of mine, their universal question is"Are you comfortable with that?" So NOW I am having a little doubt about the procedure. I haven't yet been scheduled for consulations with dieticians/therapists/surgeons ETC. I WANT to have the surgery so that I will be a more productive temple for the Holy Spirit to dwell in AND so that I will be around for my husband & two PRECIOUS children. Both my son & daughter have a diagnosis of autism so I need to live to be 200, at least!!! Will you join with me in prayer to make the right decision? May HIS will be done. grace & peace m
