I am scheduled for December 19th, and while my mom has been very supportive, I have faced a little bit of questioning from my dad and husband. I bring this up because some of what your sister said sounds a bit like what I'm hearing from the men in my life. Chances are she is saying it, not because she doesn't want you to be healthy, but because she is afraid for you. As a fellow person who has struggled with clinical depression (and self-injury) as well as a few cases in my life where I have not followed through on something (y'know, if you ignore everything I have followed through with!), I was also frustrated at the seeming reluctance of people close to me.

Your sister is probably concerned for your safety, your mental well-being, and perhaps selfishly how it will effect her when you are all together. I firmly believe she will get over it. But, you need to do what's right for you! Don't back out if this is what you want and need. She is probably dealing with her own fears and worries right now for you. I know that doesn't make it easier, but they love you!

On that note, I am telling the rest of my family this week at Thanksgiving (two sisters know already...worried about the third and grandma) and my husband's mother (she will not be pleased, but again, I think it is more out of worry for how it could effect me and how it will effect her) in the next week or two.

But, remember, you have everyone here as well!

I have Aetna POS II and have my first consultation at Atlanta Bariatrics for Dr Hart on 1/12/17, did they give you a total out of pocket after insurance? My plan is 80/20 I believe. Sent from my Nexus 6 using the BariatricPal App

I am new to this process as well (almost on Month 2 of my 90 day diet/exercise thing for Aetna), and I am going through Atlanta Bariatrics with Dr. Johnson. I really like him so far, and his office has been great.

That's so soon! I totally get being excited and nervous! Hah, I'm a bit after you and I feel the same. =]

I am so excited. I check in at 7:15am and my surgery is at 9:20am. I am beyond nervous and having some doubts but I think it's all normal because I'm 100% ready. I'm a little mad because for the past couple mornings I've woken up with a sore throat and a stuffy nose (because the air is so dry) so hopefully that is not enough to cancel me. I would be devastated because this is the only time of the year I can.

Still waiting for my date but I'm hoping for mid-December! I will update when I find out! This is my first time here and I'm so excited to be sharing this journey with others! It will most assuredly be life changing and its nice to not feel like I am going it alone!

So, I have surgery scheduled on December 19 (SO FREAKING HAPPY!), and the few people who know me have asked what I'm most excited for.

Aside from my lovely bag of Victoria Secret panties that I have never worn but oh so want to wear, my biggest excitement is for getting on a horse again. I used to horseback ride and compete, and I have signed up to be co-equestrian club advisor at the school I teach at in the spring. But, I haven't been on a horse in years because I'm terrified of hurting my favorite animal in the world. In fact, my friend had found a groupon for trail rides and wine picnic thing recently and talked about it as a belated birthday event for me, and I was too embarrassed to even answer her FB message.

So yes, that is the thing I am honestly most excited for.

Shopping somewhere besides Lane Bryant for work clothes.
