NewAdventure2016 got a reaction from KristenLe in 11 Day Post Op Question
I'm getting at least 60 Protein and pretty sure my Fluid is good as well, just sip all day long! Thanks for the quick response!

I haven't had any problems either. I'm just a week ahead of you, and was easily able to meet my liquid and Protein goals without a hitch. I was and am, also scared like you. Fortunately, there were some vets that read my post and said that it's normal. I just tried to remind myself of that - I'm normal .

I had much the same and on purely liquid stage i did not have to limit my Protein Shake sizes. Though it could take a while to drink it al. They counted toward my daily liquid needs as well.

You're right in the target zone according to my surgeon's suggested caloric intake (450-600). :-)

I know what you both mean ... All went well for me other than one bout of a dry heave on day 2. I'm 11 days post op and pureed week went fine, not losing as fast as at first but no complaints. I figure I'll see a stall pretty soon as that seems to be the norm around the 3rd week.

I can relate. Pre op I had no problem with the shakes but post op I was having a tough time. It's like I can smell the protein. And the flavorless powders are just gross to me. But I have to agree with @@NewAdventure2016 I do pretty much the same thing - I mix a premier Protein shake with equal parts Decaf and it goes down fine. Sometimes I cut it with fairlife milk also which gives an extra protein boost.
If not for the shakes I'd not be anywhere close to my protein with the tiny amount of food I'm eating.
Good luck! Great things are coming!

One of the ways I get 30 of my Protein in is to pour 1 vanilla Premier Protein, 1 cup of coffee (decaf if your Dr says no caffeine), a touch of Stevia and pour it over ice. I sip on this for a few hours. Before this I didn't care for Iced coffee but after I forced it on myself twice, now I'm hooked and it really helps me make my daily Protein goal!

I had a personal trainer for over a year and exercised for 4 days a week. I would lose 3 pounds despite all the sweat and tears but when I would go in for my doctor's appointment, no one would believe me. He could not believe that I could be exercising that much and not losing weight. I found out that I had pcos and insulin resistance which explained the problem but didn't solve it. I know how it feels to give it your best and come to zero results because I have done that for a good portion of my life. I went through with this surgery with a part of me knowing that even cutting my body organ off of me may not fix the problem. I was going to be the exception for whom this option too was not going to work. Except it did. Not the way it does for others but in my own special way. I am 3 months out but have lost 30 pounds only. I was 173 and 5'2. I was frustrated over how others are losing so much while my scale moves so slowly but I have learned to appreciate the fact that I am losing. I only have 20 or 35 more pounds to lose but those are the pounds that I carried with me for years.. Pounds that won't shed off regardless of what I did. You may not lose like others but you will lose at your own pace. That counts for a lot. If it takes me a year to shed those 30 pounds, I would still be greatful and satisfied.

My surgeon allowed coffee as one of my clear liquid pre and post surgery. I am 6 days out and I mix 1/2 scoop of Isopure Protein with some cold vanilla Creamer and then pour that info my coffee. I'm thrilled because coffee keeps me "moving" if you know what I mean.

When I use the Isopure Protein powder, I mix it with tap Water first and make sure it's completely liquified, no lumps. It's at this point you can add it to your final product (soup, drinks, etc).

Yea, I'm not necessarily hungry for a grilled cheese sandwich or willing to mess up what I've done, I was just stating how strange it feels. I expected this to be more difficult and more restricted feeling. It does make it easier to make good choices. I'm one week post op and have lost 20.3 pounds.

I am one week post op ... And feel much the same way you do. I forgot I had had the surgery at one point today during a meeting and found myself gulping my Water and then realized what I had done and froze, just waiting for the pain to hit ... And nothing. I started thinking the same thing as you - did I get duped!? Lol!

I feel the same way. I feel like some of those other people that ask "did he really remove 80% of my stomach?" .... In al seriousness, I know he did, but it's crazy that I can sip the Premier Protein's and have been eating the Soups for meals, which technically isn't until Tuesday. I just couldn't stomach the clear broths and all fluids any more. I hope I don't mess anything up but I'm not uncomfortable and just sipping everything slowly.

Try to relax ... Stress can cause your body to lock up. Deep breathing, prayer and just knowing that when the right time IS the right time, nothing can stop it from happening. You got this! Relax!

My Dr also has me on Clear Liquids first week. I couldn't stomach the canned broths so I went to Subway and just strained their chicken noodle Soup. I added Isopure Protein to it as well - hoping this will give me some energy. Still weak as a kitten.
I agree, 1st few days were tough but doing pretty good today. Return to work on Tuesday. Desk job so should be ok.
