@Djmohr, I called my insurance company this morning to follow up on the request. The rep that I spoke with told me that my file has been updated and there shouldn't be a problem with my doctors office submitting the authorization. After I hung with her I called my doctors office to inform them and I was so happy when the receptionist told me that my authorization was already submitted yesterday. Here I am working myself up. Finger crossed I get an approval within next week.

Today was supposed to be a joyish day for me, but instead it turned out to be filled with stress and sadness. Today was my last appointment before all my medical information can be sent to my insurance company for approval. Unfourtenaly things didn't go as planned. So a couple of months ago I had insurance through my employer and BCBS FEP became my secondary insurance. Well, I no longer have that insurance and it was terminated July 31st when I left the company.
So since then I have been going to the doctors and realized that my claims were being denied because BCBS stated that I still had another insurance plan. So I called a couple of weeks to get this issue resolved. Fast forward today while I was walking to my car after the appointment it dawned on me that BCBS was still denying my claims after I called to informed them that I no longer have that plan. I called once I got in the car because something told me this might be an issue and I need them to get the ball rolling. So I call today thinking that this would be something they could do instantly or maybe like a day or two. The rep told me no it takes about 3-5 days for their system to update. I am scheduled for surgery on the 13th. That means BCBS will only have about 3-5 to approve my cause if not less than that. This really sucks. I thought everything was moving in the right direction now I am stumped. Has anyone else dealt with this issue before?

I've been weighing myself before hand. So I was dropping weight as well prior to me starting the liquid diet today. I guess I should've made myself more clear. Lol

I started my liquid diet today and ugh I think I got the wrong Protein powder. It was horrible, but I am going to be diligent. I have no room for error. The weight is coming off slowly but surely. I don't see how people can last 3 weeks.

Coming up on the 6 month mark and feeling great! I'm down 73lbs! I have a lot of new found energy and have been working out like crazy. I'm been using the new Patches Vitamins because I am not good with them orally. And the gummies are too sweet. Is anyone using the Patches, I go in two weeks for 6month bloodwork so I'm hoping they are working!

I am trying to prepare myself mentally. I still don't know what my family is going to think of me. I know my fiancé doesn't want me to get it. My sister doesn't feel like I need it and has reservations about me doing so, but ultimately my sister said the decision is mine to make and she'll support me with whatever choice I decide. I haven't told my mom/dad. I'm sure my dad will support, but my mom might have something "negative" to say about it.
I went through this process before and I ended up not going through with the surgery because of what people were saying about it and fear. All I kept hearing and sometimes still to this day "you're taking the easy way out, you don't need to do that you can do it on your own". Which led me to believe otherwise.
I am doing this for me and only me. I've tired so hard and for so long just to not be successful. This is my life to live and I am taking it back.

yeah, mine was required for 2-3 weeks but I decided to do it earlier because he wanted me to lose a little more weight before surgery as well. its easy to lose 10 lbs a week doing it, its just hard to stick to.
For me, i am allowed 1 serving of dairy and a small salad with sugar free dressing. So in the morning I will have a Protein shake (I really like the premier ones), and a yogurt. For lunch I will do Jello, chicken broth, and a Protein shake. Then for dinner I will have a small salad and a Protein Shake. And for dessert either sugar free Jello or sugar free popsicles. Now, there are some days where i know myself and my habits to know well enough that I am gonna binge if i dont eat something. So i will do a lean Protein (4 oz, usually fish or chicken) and some veggies. I stay in ketosis the entire time which is good because you lose weight the quickest once in ketosis.

Congratulations! Getting that letter in the mail must be the best feeling in the world. This week has been a really long week. I wish I could rest up this weekend, but unfortunately I work. Luckily this is my last week of work and then I'm on vacation.

This week has been a very long week , started off on happy note, weighed myself, I've lost 35lbs even be fore surgery. Been tired all week, felt like I haven't slept. Friday was the longest day, came home form work to a letter from my insurance co..... It said APPROVED. no I'm nervous excited, scared, rethinking all of this, do I really want to do this, but of course I want to do this, I need to be healthy! I am scheduled for September 26.

Thanks guys. I started to cry in the "holding" area. Lol. All the people in there with me had family with them and I felt so alone. Plus they took my glasses and anyone as blind as I am knows that's scary in itself.
But after all that. I made it! My tummy is uncomfortable as all get out, but I'll live.

Every time this topic is posted you get a myriad of answers--because it's a personal decision. I chose to tell family; not much of anyone else. When people comment on my weight loss I thank them and say I'm working on it. Haven't had a single person pester me beyond that. If you opt to shout it from the roof tops-- make sue you can let the Snide comments go.
One thing for sure- people will talk either way.

Your surgery is the day after mine. I start my pre op on the first too. My surgeon asked me to lose 15 lbs too. I still have 9 lbs to go. This has been a struggle for me. hopefully the number on the scale will look better for my appointment tomorrow. Congratulations by the way!
