hobbes13rn got a reaction from Kyn13 in Pissing off my boss
Sorry to hear this, I got a lot of flack at my job for taking off and doing this "elective" surgery... I had to make the difficult choice that if I lose this job or the insurance I will not be able to have the surgery. So do what I can now...

A dress I was able to find in their clearance section in a size 12! I was so excited!! Shopping has been so awkward actually looking in the "standard size" sections and grabbing a size too big instead of too small. It's taking my brain some time to adjust to look for a large or even a medium sometimes instead of 2XL.

Best test to see if it is real hunger or acid is to eat (drink) Protein. If the feeling goes away for a while then it was hunger. If the feeling doesn't go away then it was not. It could also be head hunger but use the same "test".

hobbes13rn reacted to DaisyAmy in Salad....ever again? If so when?
Absolutely. Just had a salad tonight. Ate the grilled chicken, some feta, walnuts and dried cherries. Not much room leftover for lettuce and the waitress was concerned there was something wrong with my food, but that's pretty much how salad goes for me these days!!

Good morning! My ins. is Cigna too! I just started my journey last month and I also have to have 3 mos of supervised diet, psych eval, sleep study, 1 NUT visit and attend at least 1 support group. My bmi is 38.3 with a comorbid of osteoarthritis in my left knee. As oddly as it sounds, I'm hoping that's enough to get approved especially after dishing out all this money to meet my deductible and jumping through all of these hoops! After I found out that I had to have my PCP on board with this, I was concerned too! I had just started seeing her (my old one who has been there through all of my struggles of weight loss attempts closed her practice down) but I made the appt. anyway and went. Surprisingly, she was very much on board and felt the same way the surgeon felt and said if I could get the weight off the osteoarthritis would more than likely not be a issue for me anymore and she made me feel comfortable and everything! So, make an appt. With your PCP, he/she just might surprise you! Good luck!!

As an independent contractor I don't get sick time, I work on a commission based pay plan, so my time off I don't get paid (no problem I have savings) but she also does not make money on me when I'm not working. I have been working for her for 8 years so the employee/ boss relationship is a big grey line. It is called vacation time and I get around 3 weeks per year. I don't think that she will suspect WLS if I come up with something believable. I think the Hiatal hernia or partial gastrectomy might be good, it is definitely more believable then a Canadian salmon fishing trip in November ( what my husband came up with ).

You can tell her you have to have a hiatal hernia repaired. Very similar recovery time and can give you a reason why you need to be on liquids for a few weeks. Also it is surgery some people have to have done again so you are covered if it ever actually happens to you.!

You could tell her you are having your gallbladder out, appendix or something like that.
Just incase (god forbid) you need extra time off, at least its somewhat close to the truth and you can get a doctors certificate noting you need additional time off.

I am going to Dr. Ayoola, in Denton Tx, he had several requirements for me.
A sleep study, a specific psych evaluation, abdominal ultrasound, upper EGD, and then my insurance had required several dietary consults that I had to complete before they approved me for surgery (8/3).
The surgeons office was great they walked me through all The requirements and made sure I got every thing done that I would need.
