Tufflaw got a reaction from Tomo in BMI below 30!
Weighed in this morning and realized my BMI has dropped below 30, so officially "overweight" instead of "obese"! Don't really feel any different but wanted to share.

You are SO allowed to think, re-think, over-think and then whatever-think this decision. It's a biggie for sure. I hope you can get to wherever you need to be OP.
Also - oh wow Tufflaw you are my surgery date twin! And look at our stats - mirror images!!!!!

1200 calories is pretty low. Have you considered increasing your caloric intake? It's not intuitively obvious, but sometimes eating more calories can increase your weight loss - your body may be in starvation mode and conserving due to low calories. Increasing the calories, even to 1400 or so, might kickstart your body into burning fat again.

Tufflaw got a reaction from leslieloses in Not sure if I should go through with it
For me it was the best thing I've ever done and my only regret was not doing it sooner.
That said, you need to be both physically and mentally prepared to do this, it's major surgery and a massive life-changing event - if you don't think you're ready, you probably aren't.

Tufflaw got a reaction from MeMaof2byz in 6/6 Pre Op Liquid Diet
The two week pre-op diet SUCKS but once you make it through that you're golden. Also it's much easier to follow the plan once you've gone two weeks eating nothing, just having half a scrambled egg feels like you're indulging yourself.
I also use Myfitnesspal, just make sure to keep up with it every day post-op.

Tufflaw got a reaction from Summermoose in clothing
I love the clothing surprises. I recently found all the clothes that fit me well after my 2016 surgery before I relapsed and put most of the weight back on - now after my revision I'm close to where I was five years ago and all my old clothes are fitting again.
I went from XXL shirts (which were starting to get snug), to XL, to L, and now even the L's are getting a little roomy.

I'm constantly stalling. As long as it picks up again and the general trend over time is downward it's not a big deal.

I've often seen that to qualify you have to have a BMI of at least 40 OR a BMI of at least 35 with at least one comorbidity (Ie: sleep Apnea, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.) It depends on your insurance requirements.

    NYBG is great!
When I was considering surgery several years ago a friend of mine got the sleeve from Dr. Sekhar and I went to an information session he was running and I really like everything he had to say. When I signed up I was assigned a different surgeon, Dr. John Angstadt. I don't recall if it was an insurance issue or an availability issue but at first I was concerned but after I met Dr. Angstadt I was reassured and everything went great. When I needed my revision I went back to Dr. Angstadt and am very pleased with the results. The whole staff over there are wonderful.

I've never heard of eating every 3 hours, I was recommended to eat three meals with two "snacks" in between, which sometimes I do and sometimes I don't.
I also track calories but for me it's always more about the portion size. I started at about 4 oz, now I do 6 or 7. I try to stay low-cal and low-carb if I can but I don't drive myself crazy about it.
Typical day for me is Breakfast of two scrambled eggs with 1 oz of shredded cheese (same breakfast since right after my surgery). Before eating usually an 11 oz Premier Protein drink - if I don't have it first I wait an hour after eating to have it.
Usually no snack before lunch because of the Protein Shake but sometimes either an apple or 6-7 oz of cantaloupe.
Lunch is usually a pre-made salad I get from Target, either the chicken caesar (360 cal) or asian fusion (270). Post-lunch snack is usually two sugar free Jello puddings (chocolate/vanilla swirl).
dinner I mix up a bit but frequently it's a 4 oz piece of fish plus 3 oz corn, with 2 tbsp teriyaki sauce.
Dessert is Halo Top ice cream.
I drink Crystal Light sweet tea whenever I can remember to drink.
That's pretty much it and it's working pretty well.

Tufflaw got a reaction from Merill in Finally happening! Today is the day 😊
Both my surgeries I brought a bunch of stuff I thought I'd need, including my tablet, ereader, even my cpap machine. Didn't use a damn thing, not even the cpap. I was too busy trying to sleep in between having to get up and walk every two hours. I did a quick video chat on my phone with my kids after the more recent surgery, they weren't allowed into the hospital due to covid rules, but that was it, everything else stayed in my bag untouched.

So I gave the Nuwave a shot tonight, should have taken a picture but I forgot. I took the frozen salmon, put some olive oil on, and Mrs. Dash seasoning, then 25 minutes (from frozen) in the Nuwave, it came out pretty good! I put on some Teriyaki sauce when it was done for flavor and it was good. I think I prefer the pressure cooker though, it comes out more flaky and soft, this was a little tough although I might have put it in for too long. I had a side of corn (3 oz) also with teriyaki sauce, and it was a pretty good dinner!

Would you mind posting a recipe? All those ingredients sound great and I wanted to try to start meal prepping myself, I almost always prepare just one meal at a time and want to mix things up a bit.

Tufflaw got a reaction from newnew@46 in Weight loss expectations VSG to RNY??
Well I slowly stopped tracking, I started eating larger portions as well as unhealthy meals, and I started eating unhealthy Snacks again, and eventually just went back to my old habits and it was as if I'd never had the surgery at all. It took several years but almost all the weight came back. This was for a variety of reasons, both personal and professional, but suffice to say now that I know what to watch out for I will be a lot more careful this time around.

Well everyone is different so I can only talk about my own experience.
I got sleeved in Dec 2016 and lost about 120 lbs in about 6 months. I had GERD before sleeve and still had it after, felt about the same. I took PPI once every morning.
I slowly began to regain for various reasons, until I was almost back to where I started. I got revision to bypass this past November and am down over 75 lbs so far. Also my GERD is gone. My only regrets are not following the program in the first place, and not getting the revision sooner.

You'll be fine. After my sleeve surgery they had me eating scrambled eggs, egg salad, tuna salad, and chicken salad the day after I got home. Same after my revision to bypass surgery. Some doctors are more conservative than others I suppose, but our anatomy is the same, so if I was OK you'll be OK too.

Yeah don't beat yourself up, everyone has stalls and times they go up a little, as long as overall it's trending downward you're good. I'm attaching three charts I got from my MyFitnessPal app showing my weight fluctuation over three periods of time. First is over the past month, next is past three months, finally is the chart starting two weeks pre-surgery, just to make it easier to see the spikes. Unlike most here, I weigh myself every single day. I know it's not recommended but it works for me, and it lets me really see all the little fluctuations and stalls that happen all the time. I don't stress about it so it works. Give yourself more time, at least a few months, before you start getting worried.
