Tufflaw got a reaction from summerseeker in YAY
    Great job!
I had to pick up a 50 lb bag of pet food the other day and it was pretty heavy! Then I realized I'd been carrying around the equivalent of almost 2 of those every day for years pre-surgery.
Imagine how you'll feel after the next 100 lbs are gone!

It's been a little over 7 months from my surgery (revision from sleeve to bypass) and this morning I stepped on the scale and saw I made it down to 1derland! This comes after a bit of a stall for a week or so, so I just wanted to share and encourage those who are either considering the surgery or are struggling to get through a stall that this does work and if you keep up with your tracking and weighing food and watching what you're putting in your body, it will work for you too!

So just about 10 weeks post op.
No issues at all. No pain, I have had zero issues with any foods i have tried, zero issues with any drinks i have had. scars have healed up very nice, Vitamin intake has been good. only causes nausea once in a while. still taking medication for at least a year to prevent gall stones. Heart burn has been zero after the first couple weeks (which was very bad)
My daily meals typically consist of
either a chicken egg or 2 quail eggs with onions, banana peppers and cheese (Or if i am not feeling like food, i have a core power Protein shake)
lunch typically either grilled chicken or tuna
dinner for most days i have grilled king salmon
I went out to eat for the first time a few days ago. Friends and I were on a boat fishing and we decided to ride over to a restaurant on the Water and i ordered the Grilled Shrimp that came with French fries. Out of the 10 grilled shrimp i could only eat 5 of them. I also had probably 7 fries out of the basket. But still it was nice. Gave the rest of the food to friends to eat since we were still going to be out on the water for a bit.
Clothing has been a change. I have had to buy a new belt as the old one was too big as well as my pants. Shirts so far i am down from a 3-4 XL to 2XL
    ALMOST DOWN 60LB so far

Hey, I've been through this twice, trust me those feelings will pass.
After just a few months you'll be through all your phases and can start eating more "normally" again - normally meaning small portions. Every so often you can even have a comfort food in a smaller quantity. For example, I thought I'd never have pizza again, but now I can eat pizza. At first I made my own pita pizza with one spoonful of sauce and some shredded cheese, but now I can have a slice from the pizza place. Maybe two if they're small. Back in the day I'd order a pie and eat half of it.
Every so often I'll get to chicken soft tacos from Taco Bell - total about 420 calories and about 7 or so ounces. I eat them slowly with no sides and it fills me up. Before I'd eat a lot more plus sides/snacks/etc.
I used to love ice cream and I still do, but instead of digging into a tub of whatever from the supermarket I get Halo Top and weigh out a portion and that's enough to satisfy me.
I was at a picnic the other day at my kids school and they had a barbecue food truck. I got a sandwich - large roll with pulled pork, cole slaw and sauce. I threw away the roll and ate the rest, it was delicious and filling but not overfilling.
My kids like to go to Friendlys so when I take them instead of getting one of those monster supermelts I'll get a bowl of the clam chowder Soup - filling and delicious and I get to eat with my family and not feel like I'm depriving myself.
You don't want to feel like you're not "allowed" to eat something, because then you'll just want it more.
I track every single thing that goes in my mouth so I can make sure I'm not going overboard, and I weigh everything if I can, I recommend you get in the habit of doing the same. Best of luck, you'll get through this fine, and when the lbs start coming off you're going to be very happy.

This is gonna sound odd but try making it into a drinking game. Watch a old sitcom and anytime the audience does that fake laugh take a shot- be it Water, Protein Shake, watered down juice, Gatorade… you get the idea. You can change up the tv show or movie and make the cue more relevant.

Tufflaw got a reaction from Clara Paulson in Acid Reflux :(
I had GERD for years before my sleeve (2016), the surgery didn't change anything, the GERD was the same (not better or worse), I lost a lot of weight quickly but put most of it back on. In mid-November last year I had revision surgery to change the sleeve to a bypass and am losing a lot of the weight again (not as quickly but it's still coming off), and the GERD is gone! My doctor had me take another 30 days worth of esomeprazole but then that was it.
You should have your doctor do an endoscopy to confirm whether you have GERD before doing anything else.

I don't plan on ever stopping tracking. It takes a few seconds and for me, personally, it's worth it. I know that after my sleeve surgery in 2016 I lost 120 lbs in about 7 months, then when I slowed and eventually stopped tracking I put almost all of it back on. I had the revision to bypass last November and I'm down about 90 lbs so far, still tracking everything, weighing what I can as well (including myself every morning). If it works, why stop?

Tufflaw got a reaction from Tatt in Robotic?
After my sleeve surgery, I drove about 30 miles to visit my sister for holiday dinner (I didn't eat much of course) and it was fine, spent most of the time sitting on the couch but I wasn't in pain or anything.
After my revision I think I was able to get out of the house by myself a few days later too.
I don't know if either of mine were done robotically or not, I don't think it really makes a difference, whatever the surgeon feels most comfortable with is probably what you want to go with. The procedure is the same either way.
I had no exterior sutures, the incisions were closed up with surgical glue and it all came off within a month or so I think, maybe less.

Tufflaw got a reaction from summerseeker in Anyone Tried to Do the Pre-Op Liquid Diet Before Its Time?
Yikes! Why would anyone do this voluntarily?
Remember the goal of the pre-op liquid diet isn't to lose weight but to shrink your liver. It's not a particularly healthy diet in terms of long-term nutrition, and it's hard enough to manage the two weeks when you know surgery is coming up, I would never have done it otherwise.
