My consult was 7/1. I have to lose 28 lbs before surgery. So far I'm doing alright lost 7lbs so far. My biggest hurdle will be financing. I have insurance that will absolutely under no circumstances cover WLS. I don't have good credit either. I have a huge support system and they are going to try and help me raise some funds through a garage sale but I really need to get some financing somehow as well. Any one in my same boat have any tips? Thanks in advance!

Best decision of my life! Yesterday was my 9 month post op check in with the surgeons office. Everything is looking great and I have lost 132 pounds since surgery! My bmi is almost to being out of the obese range and I am about 45 pounds from my personal goal weight.
My heaviest weight in 2011 was 376
My surgery weight in September 2015 was 319
My current weight is 187!!!!
First picture is almost at my heaviest, then purple shirt is 11 days before surgery and black & white top is last week.

Just wanted to check in with you. I had surgery in TJ on 6/23/16 so I'm heading into my 3rd week post-op. I can't say enough about how well we were treated (there were 5 of us) throughout our stay. From the driver to Sandra the patient coordinator on that side to all the staff including Dr. Lopez. Even the staff at the Marriott were wonderful. Day after surgery, my roommate and I walked from the recovery boutique (2nd floor of the hospital) to the Wal-mart which is about a block and half from there. Only pain I personally felt was from the dang drain. Once that was pulled on Saturday the 25th, I felt instant relief. Sandra took us shopping on Saturday at Revolution St. which was fun.
There is a book in the recovery boutique...don't forget to sign it! We did.

My PCP gave me Contrave which is a diet pill 8 months ago to lose weight and one of the side effects is you lose the desire to smoke. I quit smoking the 3rd week and kept taking the pills for 2 more weeks. I haven't smoked since. I have struggled with acid reflux and IBS for the last thirty some years or more in fact I cannot remember the last time my stomach felt so relaxed. No bloating. No pain. No hunger. And it's Thursday , had mini bypass surgery on Monday here in Tijuana . Some huge differences here in the hospital care. When you ring for a nurse they actually show up. My room was cleaned twice a day. Michael stayed with me in the room. Medications came on the dot. IV changed as soon as it beeped! Doctors are so kind and amazing. It's wonderful here and the men and women here are so gracious. Mexican health care is great with Bariatric Pal. The service was great, the hospital clinic clean. I'm very happy with the results!!! And Roberto Carlos is a real sweetheart as are all the BP Mexico valets!

I decided to have surgery to help me with my weight loss. I went to my first appointment on June 18,2015 and attended my first nutritional class that same day. I weighed in at 464 lbs. I could not believe I weighed that much. I began to exercise and eat healthier. I had to do 12 months of nutritional classes for my insurance. My doctor required a 2 week liquid diet pre op. I had my sleeve on 6/14/16. The day of surgery I weighed in at 371 lbs. That is 93lbs. I lost on my own. The day I was released from the hospital I weighed 379 from all the fluids they were pumping in me. Today makes 2 week post op and I weighed in at 345 lbs. I cannot believe I am down 119 lbs since this journey began. I have an awesome family who encourages and supports me 100%. I WILL SUCCEED!!!!!!!

@@Pink Ninja I'm 10 months and 11 days post op. I've lost 163 pounds since surgery and 218 pounds since I started this journey. My weight loss has slowed wayyyyyyy down, mostly because I've been laid up recovering from knee surgery for two months, so that's a bit of a bummer. However, even though I'm still 224 pounds and about 50 pounds away from my goal, I'm happy to be here. My life has changed drastically in the last year and a half, and I have changed drastically as well. I used to wear a 4x top and size 32 jeans (which were sometimes snug!) and now I wear a large or 1x top and size 18 jeans. By all accounts, I'm still "fat". But I feel amazing, I look VERY different, and many things in my life have improved. I'm going back to school to finish my degree in August, and I don't fear walking up to the building from the parking lot or climbing two flights of stairs anymore. I just got a tattoo to Celebrate all of my effort and change. I'm excited to see wonderful things happening for you too! And everyone on this forum!

Gosh I love these!!! So today is my 10 month post op surgiversary. I'm down 142 lbs so far and feel so much better. But these pics make rainbows and glitter shoot from my heart!!! Loving how I'm starting to look. My skin is an issue but it will not take my happiness from me. I've come a hell of a long way and I'm damn proud of myself. Please post all your pics, I love seeing all you beautiful people!!!!!

I am so excited and nervous all at the same time...I have a few questions should I go ahead and buy my Protein Shakes, what should I bring to the hospital how long is the hospital stay...... everyday I'm just thinking about my upcoming surgery!!!

How soon after the 12 week options programs will I receive my surgery date? I have completed all labs, attended my mandated support group and had kept all appointments scheduled thus far. I guess I'm getting anxiously excited as I enter my half way mark to completing my 12 week classes.

Being able to shop for clothes any where and not having to ask if they have a plus size section. Not having to worry about fitting in a chair comfortably or a booth in a restaurant.

Hi everyone I'm pre op and have a question for all of you post op people! What are some things you did pre op that made you more successful post op? Also, what are some things that you've seen other people do that you wish you had done? Thanks so much, I know this will be a great help!
