GettingKimback got a reaction from Inner Surfer Girl in I need help and suggestions to get weight off before surgery
Inner Surfer Girl, my nut isn't very good. She knows nothing about how to lose extra weight being a diabetic. I haven't had soda or caffeine in 8 months. I count my carbs for my insulin pump. I will try the veggies

Hi Kim. I'm type 2 diabetic and have a underactive thyroid too. I got myself a fitbit and paired up the fitbit app with my fitness pal.In short it told me what my daily calories should be to lose weight. I could see calories going in vs calories burned too.
I love myfitnesspal as it not only shows the calories but also tells you the nutrients you've put into your body.
I started doing this in Feb 2015 and have lost 8 stone. I'm booked for a gastric bypass on Tuesday and will continue to use both apps to monitor my activity, nutritional consumption and calories in vs calories out. X

I had a very difficult time and followed a 1200 calorie high Protein, low/no carb diet before and literally lost 5lbs over 6 months.
My doctor told me he was not surprised give how bad my metabolism was.
I will say that when i went on the liquid Protein liver reduction diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery i literally lost 14lbs in that time.
Its a touch diet but if you are really stuck and following the plan, you might consider doing that with your surgeons approval of course.

GettingKimback reacted to goplay94123 in Who would have thought..6 months today
Lately I have been saying to my close friends who know I have had the surgery "who would have thought...."
I have had so many firsts and happy moments I never expected since my surgery. I can truly say this was the best decision I have ever made. For those on the fence I just want to say I have never regretted this decision and am amazed everyday what a game changer it has been. I am officially 6 months today and I honestly feel like at the age of 45 my life is just beginning. I am sort of a slow loser. I started at 240 start of diet. 225 surgery March 1 and as of last mon I was 163. 5'5
Because I can say for the first time in so, so many years, I truly love myself. I love who I have become. Not because I look more like the norm (though that is a a factor) but because of the little things.
I can go up and down stairs with ease. I can run 2 miles without stopping. I am doing a 5k next week. I feel I deserve a sassy haircut! I can go on vacation and chat with a man in the jacuzzi in a bathing suit. I can order just a chicken breast for dinner and not apologize. I can Dance to my Music when I walk and not care who sees Me or has an opinion. I can experiment with recipes to make it Bari friendly and tasty. I can run a weight loss challenge and encourage others to succeed. I can look in a mirror.(which I haven't in 4 years). I can have my picture taken by myself (only 2 times but I did to send to my grandmother who is not long for this world). And I feel ok at each size. I do not worry of it is a 12, 10, 8. I care how I feel in the clothes.
I can love me! I am about 35 40 lbs away from goal but I feel good about myself. I actually feel pretty and I haven't forever! I still feel my face looks fat so I need to work on that. I can't do selfie face pic but one day I hope I can get past this. I want to grow up and be As self confident as @@Dub and post a lot of pics of myself. He looks so amazing and I love that he sees it n himself. I want to see it in myself in a picture like him. Though he is hot stuff and I will never be as hot as him . I am really stretching myself and posting a black bar pic of myself. This is from today for my meeting
    Happy half anniversary to me.

Today was my husbands 30th birthday. I made New York strip steaks, potatoes, and fresh green Beans followed by german chocolate cake. And I didn't have one bite. Obviously. I'm 11 days post op. It was hard. Really hard. I've realized how much celebrations are surrounded by food. Then I took him to a movie. It was the first I think I've ever been to a movie and didn't get popcorn. That was hard too. I know I'll eat steak and pop corn again. But it's seriously like mourning a loss of a friend. Food was a friend. Anyway, hope you can all relate. I know this is worth it. There are just really hard times.

GettingKimback reacted to ididit34 in Wow! NSV relating to clothing and other things!
Ok, so I was barely squeezing into a 30/32 in avenue women's clothing prior to surgery. So at about 10 months post-op, I went to lane bryant's during a sale and decided to buy a size 18/20 (I've always been hourglass/pear shape), thinking, these pants will probably last me through thanksgiving (I've experienced too big pants that look like you 're carrying a load of something really unpleasant around in the gluteal area), and those joints fit....I mean they fit like the fit will only last about a month of two; what a NSV for me! Another NSV is two other people sitting next to me on the NYC MTA subway (ok so they, not the fattest person, but two other people on a three sitter is an NSV for me!).

GettingKimback reacted to KimDawn in Today is my 1 year surgiversary!
    Hello!
When I started this journey I was 260 pounds (Sept 2014) and today I'm at 125. Pant size 24 to 6.
My goal was 130 but for the life of me, I can't stop loosing. I meet with my NUT soon so hopefully she can give me food ideas to maintain. Fortunately, it has been a smooth ride and I'm glad I got on board!
The only issue I'm dealing with is restless leg which I didn't have before. I'm hoping that it will subside soon.
I want to thank everyone for your support and advice. I wish everyone much success!

I used BariMelts for a couple of weeks, until I started vomiting them up. Now I'm using PatchMD Patches. My doc will run full labs soon to see what all my levels are, then I'll know if they're working or not. I'm a little skeptical, but I can't find anything oral that I can tolerate. My fingers are crossed

Please don't get discouraged. Everything happens for a reason. Just do what you have to do to keep the weight off and even getting rid of a few more pounds. I understand how you feel. I do????. My 6 months of weight monitoring was done in June. I'm excited thinking my surgery date will be what July /beginning of August, nope September the second week of September. I got up set and I said to myself nope don't rush God everything in his timing. What we want now is not what he wants now for us. Just know your surgery date is set. And just eat right and work out September is around the corner. Hope I helped you to smile

I had my surgery 7-15-2016 , exactly 1 mth ago and it's very hard and life changing. I wonder everyday what did I just do.. ? To myself. It's very hard and nothing easy about it. Your food choices change and it's very emotional. Restaurants you can forget them for now. I do follow the food plan, I am very strict and careful on what I am eating. If you get somethings stuck one time you will never try to do that again.. It's hard. I do see weight loss.. I have lost 30pounds in 1 mth since surgery. I am 8 pounds from under 200 pounds.. Can't wait for that. But it's been hard. I just wish everyone luck on there journey if your just starting. It does get better, everyday. But it's still hard and emotional. Good luck!

GettingKimback reacted to beachgal2935 in 13 Months post-op Swimsuit Pics - Yikes!
These pics are NOT easy to share because I have No make-up on and tons of loose skin and wrinkles, hence the the Yikes in my title! All that being said, I couldn't be happier and healthier. Last Summer I was wearing a size 22 swimsuit and the one I have on in the pic is a size 10, so YAY! Having had gastric bypass has truly saved my life. I was a slow but steady loser (can't exercise much due to a chronic nerve condition) and only have a few more pounds to go. These last 10 lbs. are the hardest. Being obese for 30 years took it's toll on me but I'm so happy now that I refuse to dwell in the past. Advice for those just starting out ... Take "Before" pics and measure yourself!!! Here are my stats:
    54 years young
    5' 2" tall
    HW 285
    SW 260
    CW 138
    GW 130
    Inches Lost
    chest: 12"
    above waist: 21"
    waist (@@belly button): 18"
    below waist (apron): 19"
    hips: 15"
    thighs: 8"
    knees: 3"
    arms: 6"

GettingKimback reacted to Patti K in Hummus deviled eggs
I madethis today, wanting some deviled eggs, and decided to switch up the mayo with hummus! I used spicy hummus and they were DELICIOUS!
    4 eggs hardboiled
3-4 TBSP hummus (I used supremely spicy hummus by Sabra mixed up)
    I TSP mustard
A teeny bit of mayo will help make it more creamy for those who like a more creamy filling
Slice eggs in half and combine yolks with hummus, mustard, and maybe mayo for filling. Fill egg whites. Consume!
I made it with 3 TBSP hummus and a tbsp miracle whip and 4 halves (or two eggs) was almost 14g of protein!!!!
