My plan: "Thank you! I'd love one, they look delicious! But I'm going to have to take it home for later, because I'm stuffed right now."
Then, I'll find someone who looks like they need a treat and pay it forward:)
I don't have to eat it to accept it graciously and comment that it's a lovely gesture and looks yummy. Bonus: I get to give ti to someone else and make them happy:)
Have never met a homeless person who didn't want a cookie. Bonus points if I can pick them up a cup of coffee to go with it.

The potassium: All I can say is do your best to take those pills in whatever way you can because I've had IV potassium and it kills your veins....seriously burns like you're on fire, and now I can't have blood tests in my right arm. Not trying to scare you...but I've been there, done that, and it was a nightmare. 4 years ago and I can still feel the pain

I mixed my Protein powder (I bought vanilla & chocolate powder) with different flavorings & vanilla Beans. I also used a couple of tablespoons of sugar free instant pudding. Also used low fat milk instead of Water to get the extra protein. Experiment, you will find something you like!
I also had family members who tried to discourage me, YOU do what's best for you!

Are the back pains on both sides of your back or just one? I ask because a kidney infection (which can happen when you're dehydrated and most of us are in the beginning because it can be hard to get all our fluids in) can cause lower back or "flank" pain and usually occurs on one side depending on which kidney is affected.

Are the pains accompanied by muscle spasms by any chance? If you're walking hunched over because of drains or incisions, sometimes that's enough to irritate your back.

No matter what, I'd definitely recommend you call your surgeon and let them know what you're experiencing. They'll be able to guide you better than we can.

I had controlling parents. I'm 40 and I haven't talked to either of them in years. The years I haven't talked to them have been the best years of my life.
Just that you would consider removing her from your insurance tells me every thing I need to know about you.
I feel sorry your daughter. I imagine you have made her feel terrible about her weight her entire life too.
Why is everyone that posts in the friends and family section is a terrible human being. Lol every fricking time.

My sister wasn't a fan. 51 pounds in 3 months changed her mind. But she wasn't openly rude and was very good when I had the surgery. I had a couple male friends that were against it. But one is now considering going thru the process. It comes down to how accepting you yourself are about your decision. Once I decided, I didn't argue with anyone who didn't agree. I just nodded politely and changed the subject. I'm already feeling healthier

Ok, so if your carbs are on target, then I wouldn't touch your diet yet. Exercise sounds like an excellent plan. (I'm proud of you! Your dietary management sounds great!!).
Again, gradually increase exercise so you don't get low blood sugars!

The real question is whether you've tried a few different methods of weight loss that haven't worked. For me I tried a very strict portion diet ( lost 17 pounds that found me quickly). I did 3 months of weight loss pills and lost a whopping 6 pounds and dealt with two months of severe ( I mean unreal severe) nightmares that plunged me into a severe depression. I carb counted and did shakes. Nothing was effective for very long.

So if those and other methods haven't worked you can honestly say that a WLS would be a good choice. I know that I'd be in a worse place mentally if I hadn't made this life-changing decision!

    Good luck on your journey!!!!!

    You look amazing!

Remember you see yourself every day. Others that only see you occasionally will notice. I see quite a difference

I'm down 78 pounds in 6 months and I also don't see it. But I feel better and my son who hasn't seen me since Christmas noticed in a profile picture of mine.

    So don't get discouraged.

Also, the sizes haven't gone down like I thought they would but I'm WAY more comfortable in my clothes

I use the syrups. There's a brand called skinny syrups (Jordan's skinny syrups) that has a foam tipping you can pump onto Decaf coffee. I also took half teaspoons of dry sugar free Jello mix. Oh my how that makes things taste wonderful! Also, a dropin Water flavoring stick can change things up for you. My favorite thing so far:

    Vanilla Protein Shake powder.
1/2 teaspoon sugar free cheesecake pudding mix
1/2 teaspoon raspberry sugar free jello mix.

Been it up and put over ice. Amazing!

For me I was in pain anytime I tried to walk. My back would seize up and my knees were in constant pain. I took at least two Aleve a day and was terrified after because we aren't allowed that pain reliever anymore. After about 20 pounds I was moving around one day and noticed my back DID NOT hurt. Now...after almost 80 pounds in 6 months, my back isn't bothering me at all!!!!

I had bypass so not sure how it is for VSG. Three months out I got sick one night. Thought my dinner didn't agree but after 4 hours of vomiting I realized it must be the flu. I tried all night to get liquids in but because my muscles were still newly healed they weren't sure how to react...the result was muscle spasms that caused dry heaving. I did go to the ER the next afternoon and was given fluids and an anti nausea med.

Don't wait if you can't keep liquids down for more than 12 hours. Go to emergency care!

When I was in the ER they did an X-ray to make sure my "new insides" were still in place.

I had to take them for 10 days after. I missed one - but I didn't stress just did it til 10 days out. I'd rather have the unpleasant needle once a day than the worry of whether you're having gas pain or throwing a clot....

That being said we can get thru anything if you think of what problems non-compliance can create.

Mine was because my BMI was 50 (it's 39 now after 5 1/2 months!)

Honestly given the things I've read of people eating here early days after surgery, I absolutely don't think we can. I won't list them to not embarrass anyone, but it can be mind boggling. It's not safe to assume anything about what anyone thinks is destructive or counter productive.

I don't think surgery means never having ice cream again. But 18 days out? To say anything that encourages backsliding that early to foods that got us to qualify for this surgery in the first place would be irresponsible.

According to my discharge instructions, one of the times to call your surgeon's office after surgery is when you have chest pains. So I recommend that you consult with them.

Those with quality concerns can pay a higher price and go with a place like Obesity Control Center. They are accredited by The Joint Commission International - the same accreditation agency that regulates U.S. hospitals. That's not a small undertaking - there are unannounced inspections annually that cover a 2-in manual's worth of rules, including extensive quality and infection control standards, and the regular collection and analysis of quality data, e.g, complication and mortality rates. OCC was also designated a Bariatric Center of Excellence by the accrediting agency Surgical Review, which has its own education, qualification and on-site inspection process. It's not about the location, it's about the standards for performance excellence that the physicians, nurses, and even environmental services staff, set for themselves to achieve AND have externally validated.
