chinadoll0402 reacted to thatmeanone in How many calories a day?
For my first month I was at about 600-700 calories a day and my surgeon was not happy. He wanted me to get up to about 1200 during my weight loss phase as soon as possible.
At two months I was around 800-900. Now I'm a little over three months out and I hit about 1000-1100.
Don't see much change on the horizon. I feel like that's about my cap - even with hitting the gym.
I keep my carbs under 30 g and my Protein around 100 g and do about 90 oz of Water. That's pretty much my focus.

Everyday is a challenge. Every meal is a question of "do i really want that?". Every month is a question of why am i not loosing more. When i look at myself in the mirror i cant see the difference. People keep telling me that i changed, but i cant see it. I went from a size 24 to a now 16/14 and im 7 month out. From 318 lb to 228lb. 90 lb difference that i cannot tell by looking at myself. Maybe its a good thing, it wakes me work harder at the gym, helps me make better decisions with my diet. This is the first time i compared pictures of my face....definitely looks like a different person

December 1st marks my 9 month post op for my sleeve and despite being sick for a good share of it (not holding much down still), I'm very pleased with the results! From a 22, to a solid 12... over 130lbs lost and MADE IT TO ONE-DERLAND!
(I'm a big fan of Supernatural so photos below are ops I've had done with the cast)
September 2015, my worst and no change from that when I went into surgery, July 2016 at my first 100lb lost, then October 2016... my most recent. Have lost maybe 7 or 8 lbs since it was taken.

Atkins Protein Bars NOT THE Atkins candy are low carb. I don't like them much but they are good if you want to chew something. I cut them into cubes and freeze them and grew them frozen.

I took ya'll's advice and put a drink timer on my phone, cause I was getting all my Protein in but lacking in Fluid intake. Now I'm getting in at least 68oz a day, with a 15 minute timer and anywhere from 60 to 80g of protein..and walking.

Ok so I was struggling. I mean really struggling with getting my Protein because i cannot do the shakes. Make me vomit every time. So I ordered gene pro unflavored and tried adding it to drinks, foods etc and still couldn't do it. I could still taste it. So today I had a genius idea. (Not really genius but it is to me ) I mixed the gene pro with one small shot of a beverage of my liking. I used horchata (not the alcohol horchata). Mixed my gene pro in, held my nose and got my 30 grams of protein with one throw back of the shot glass! Didn't even taste it. So I will do that twice more today and be beyond my protein requirements.

I have had the same issues but i found if i take a can of Tomato Soup or any cream of Soups that i use my emulsion wand to blend smooth, add a scoop of Protein powder and two cans of Water and sip that throughout the day it really helps. I am more likely to drink more Water between Soup boughts.
    Hope this helps.

The elliptical machine at the gym is low impact but can burn more calories than walking. That's a good start.
The other option is interval training on the treadmill. Walk at 3.0 for 3 minutes then jog for 45 seconds at 5.0. Continue this until you reach 30 or 45 minutes. Adjust the speed as works for you. Then adjust the intervals and speeds as you get more endurance. High intensity interval training is scientifically proven to burn the most calories

I haven't pureed anything. I just chew soft food like eggs and tuna really well. Tonight I'm trying Cincinnati style chili which is soupier.

plans vary. if pureed foods are not appealing to you talk to your NUT about soft foods.
my plan didn't have pureed stage.
it was Clear liquids in hospital. full liquids for 10 days to two weeks and then soft foods. boy was I ready!
but some pureed food choices are good. I made touchdown taco dip and ate it with a spoon. it's refried Beans on the bottom, and then a mixture of cream cheese and sour cream on top. the recipe is online with the spices and such. now at three months I can have it with salsa on top.

It's recommended you purée it since your body may not digest soft solid food that easy during your recovery period. . Follow your guidelines in order to succeed .

I was never told to do puree, just soft food. At two weeks I had no problem with soft foods like canned tuna, avocado, eggs, etc. But if you are in doubt consult your nutritionist
