Gypsy52 got a reaction from Raymia in Inflamation in the stomach
I'm curious. Is stomach inflamation par for the course? During my endoscopy they found inflamation in my stomach. They took biopsies but that was many weeks ago. I'm sure if it was anything serious or requiring meds that I would have heard something. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Gypsy52 reacted to kayshabear in Smoking
@@Gypsy52 Mine made me stop smoking immediately after my first appointment. That was about 3 months ago, and I have my surgery next Monday! Mine is REALLY REALLY big on making sure all his patients are nicotine free before and after surgery due to the risks it creates and that it makes it so much harder for your body to heal after surgery. I had to do a nicotine test last week, and if I would have failed he would not have done my surgery. He didn't have a specific time frame I had to be smoke-free, but I had to be able to pass my nicotine test prior to surgery and be willing to ensure I don't do it after surgery too.

Gypsy52 reacted to PissiChrissi in Smoking
My doctor was smart and didn't make me quit. He knows I wouldn't have and most others with either. I had 0 complications. Doesn't mean they can't happen, but you could have complications and not be a smoker.

Gypsy52 reacted to BunnyBenson in Smoking
I scoured the internet for that exact answer when I was facing the test but never found it lol I took that test, went directly to the store, bought a pack, chain smoked 5. I'm a nurse BTW. It took a few more times to finally quit. Don't give up, you're not a failure!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App

The first 3 days is the hardest......I know it's such a struggle but you can do it !!! I downloaded an app to Celebrate my success and it helped me when I quit cold turkey because trying to replace that feeling nothing can compare made me relapse. Good luck sorry I dont know the length of the tests staying in ur system Sent from my Z981 using the BariatricPal App

Gypsy52 reacted to Treadmillwalker in Smoking
In my bariatric Group a person reported the surgeon canceled her surgery because she was still smoking. She didn't say which test, just that she flunked it. She is still working to quit.
Had lapband surgery 10/12/16

Gypsy52 reacted to Farcaster in Smoking
Smoking is going to impact how you heal and raises your chances of having complications. Instead of thinking about how you might fool the screening process, talk to your doctor and ask for help. There are pharmaceutical options that could help you.
(BTW, I quit smoking 16 years ago, so I can relate on how hard it is to finally quit.)

Hi everyone! I'm a newbie, and am starting my process. Looking to get sleeved by the end of the year as a xmas/birthday present to myself. Turning 42 in January, and since I'm 30 I've been on EVERY diet in the book. Done with all of that, and making a decision to change my life forever! Can't wait to get to know you all.
BTW, I'm in South Orange County.

Sure....no problem! I started to dry heave and was very nauseous. They admitted me because they were concerned I might pop a staple line. It took a while to get that under control.

@@Valentina
You are absolutely correct.
I for one thought I was so much happier living in solitude. Problem is, I didn't realize how much I relied on food for that happiness until I couldn't eat.
Those first few weeks were rough, but I remembered I had the sleeve in order for me to start living.
9 weeks into my new journey, and I couldn't be happier.

Gypsy52 reacted to Bufflehead in Post o.o diet
People take different approaches to their diet in both weight loss and maintenance. In maintenance, I stay grain-free (and carby veggie free and sweets-free) about 95% of the time. I can and do order carne asada burritos but I use a fork and eat the insides, not the tortilla. Same with tacos and any other kind of sandwiches. The inside is generally fine, not whatever is holding it. That's my plan though, other people are more or less strict than I am. You have to find what works for you. I do think it is a good idea to acknowledge that it is at least possible that things like tacos, burritos, sandwiches, pizza, Bagels, french fries, Cookies, etc. MIGHT have to be off the menu permanently.

Gypsy52 reacted to pr_pitbullgrl in Does anyone's goal weight still leave them "overweight" or "obese"?
@@Luckygrl well your surgeon is wrong too. i was told most people don't reach their goal weight. that last 20lbs rarely comes off. bs. i reached my original goal and now i'm on my way to 140. it's all within your reach. don't listen to anyone cuz everyone's journey (and body) is different. best of luck to you!
