  1. I know this has been talked about before but I searched and don't see the post I was looking for. I am 8 months post surgery. I've never had smelly poop before surgery but it now seems like the norm. I keep forgetting to ask my doc about it. Is it because the stomach is now missing certain enzymes? My apologies to the squeamish. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Advancing your diet- on your own

I found that at each stage I was ready before it was recommended. I always started the next stage a week or so before I was "allowed" to. No bad side effects. The only time I would follow to the letter is right after surgery THROUGH the time in which the stitches should be totally healed Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    I'm curious...

HW 279 SW 268 CW 198 I have way more than 800. More like 1000-1300. Still losing. I eat what I want, just smaller amounts and Protein first. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Forgot to add my surgery date was April 28 2016 Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

When did you start drinking alcohol postop?

3 months. 1/2 a glass of wine. Nothing bad happens. Just get sleepy a lot quicker so I'm careful to just have one drink every once in a great while Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. I accidentally drank a soda when I was a few weeks out. Nothing happened which is why I didn't realize what I was doing til it was halfway gone. I'm not much of a soda drinker, never have been. I think if you have a diet soda and the bubbles don't make you sick it's ok Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Salad....ever again? If so when?

I was allowed at 3 months. I find that by the time I eat the Protein, I only have room for a few forkfuls of the lettuce and other veggies. I'm just happy to be able to eat salad again, I'm like you, I love salad Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Food Aversions-9 mos out

I feel the same way. Pre surgery I had very few dislikes. Now I turn my nose up at chicken, tuna, almost all veggies and fruit. It's hard to find something that appeals to me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. Good for you!!!! I'm 4 months post surgery and lost 53 lbs so far. Size 22 to a 16. I'm very happy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-op Diet

Two weeks. Two Protein shakes, two servings of dairy such as yogurt or milk, 3 oz of meat or cheese, 1/2 cup veggies, 1 piece of fruit. It was tough but I did it and didn't cheat. Surgeon said my liver looked great. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Thanks everyone for the great answers! This helps! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. My PCP mentioned that I should use lotions/oils to help with loose skin, such as the type that pregnant women use. Any thoughts? Suggestions? I've lost 36 lbs so far and thank God so far skin still tight but I have 65 more lbs to go for goal. Sleeved 1 1/2 months ago. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Taste buds

Quick survey for you "old timers". Do the taste buds come back? If so are there permanent changes to your tastes? I am one month out and nothing tastes good. Also many things taste bitter or bland, nothing in between. I am hoping this changes as I didn't expect this. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Post Op - Full Liquid phase

My nutritionist let me have ricotta after I told her I wasn't going to make it. I am like you, I can't stand the sweet shakes and have had it up to here with yogurt. Also she let me mix Heinz gravy with unflavored Protein powder and some broth. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Depressed

Can you get "assembly" type foods on hand for him that would make it easy for him to cook up dinner for the kids? Example: rotisserie chicken cut up + bagged slaw + tortillas + bottled peanut sauce = Thai taco night. Ramen noodles+frozen japenese veggies+ cut up leftover meat= noodle bowl night. You get the picture. Also staying on this sight and listening to the positive people is really helping with my depression Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pre-op liquid diet

I understand and you know what? Whatever you decide will be ok as long as you make sure you are at peace with your decision. During the pre op diet, I almost quit. But then I reminded myself why I started the journey and what sort of future I was going to have if I didn't get the weight off. Had my surgery April 28. It is NOT easy. The post op liquid diet is terrible. But you know what? Pay attention to all the wonderful positive minded posters on here who are further out post op and all of their little victory stories. Good luck ! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
