Hey guys i haven't been on here in a long time. I tend to read all the stories just never post due to my work schedule. I need advice. I have stalled in my weight loss journey. My surgery was 06/07/16 So far I have loss 124. I feel like I could eat more food then before and I'm hungry all the time. Has anyone taken diet pills? I had the gastric bypass.

Definitely speak with a nutritionist. You're over a year out. Your bodies needs have changed. Best to seek out experts advice. That said....I think you should really be tracking your intake. A year out calorie intake is really important.

Your protein is really low. I've never heard any plan that calls for less than 60 grams per day. (Although there was a poster yesterday who said her doctor gave her a goal of 30 grams per day. I find that suspect, but that's what she said.)
I'd recommend that you begin tracking your food and drink. Without doing that, you really have no idea what you are taking in each day. I'd also recommend making an appointment with your nutritionist so that you can work together to determine how many calories and carbs you should be taking in based upon your current body state. (You didn't give any specifics here, so it is hard to give any advice around calories, etc.)
I'd also up your water by 0.5 L or so.
Hopefully, these suggestions will be helpful. Good luck!

So, good news! Just a couple weeks ago I attended a seminar where questions such as these were answered by one of the bariatric surgeons at my awesome hospital. He says the stretching stomach is a myth. Most likely, your food is going through at a faster rate now, so you're making room in your stomach for more food sooner. He said he's been a bariatric surgeon for decades and he has never once seen, even after doing swallow tests/imaging of his patients' stomachs, evidence that a stomach actually stretches. Just means you need to be more aware of your portions and stop when you're done eating your set amount. You may not always feel full. Plus, the swelling in your stomach is probably way less now, so that will make you feel less full as well. Hope this helps!

Everyones body adjusts along the way. Most surgeons provide a approved diet that goes up in quantity as time passes.
For me from about 1 - 3 months it was 1/4cup of food which filled me up completely. I remember i could use one yogurt for 3 meals.
Then around 3-7 months it was 1/2 cup and again, that kept me very full for many hours if i was eating the right things.
from 7 months on i was approved to eat about 1 cup of food. Now it really all depends on what your eating. I can eat 1 1/2 cups of salad depending on what Protein i add on top. It might be less if it is dense chicken breast.
It is normal but i would not advance it until you are told it is ok to do so.
I think the most i can eat now is about 1 cup of dense foods and 1 1/2 cups of things like salad.< /p>
Also, you will find slider foods......for me things like pudding and yogurt will fill me up but empty from my pouch very quickly making me hungry again sooner. I find this is true of some broth like Soups. But stews with dense Protein like beef or chicken and veggies wills stay with me for hours.
It is usually my head telling me i am hungry long before my tummy does.

food mourning is real. It's ok. I'm over a year out and make mistakes. Sugar/food was a major addiction and i used it to take my blues away. Sometimes it happens. I've suffered through dumping a couple times just to have a taste of what I once considered "normal."
Melty Mints are my weakness. You know the ones. They are Hershey kissed shaped and are pastel pink, yellow and green with white sprinkles on the bottoms. Oh how i miss them! Sometimes you just need to talk about the cravings you're having. Maybe it sounds a bit silly, but it helps. It's just good to know other people have their moments too!

So today I had a fell week and gave in bought a bag of chips (was only able to eat 3) and a soda ( had about 3 sips). I feel so guilty. I've been doing so well. I had WLS on 06/07. I did the WLS for a change of life style and I go and do this. Please tell me I'm not the only one.

My surgeon requires that we attend monthly group support group sessions- unless we absolutely can't. I went to my first just 2 weeks post op and I loved it. The facilitator allows us (newbies to those 6 months post op) to have a peer q&a session before the surgeon stops in to answer more detailed questions. I loved it. I drag hubby with me and he enjoys it as well. I hope you can find something like this.

I use this app as group therapy lol I read how other ppl are doing and it helps because they know what I'm feeling and going thru because they have gone thru it. On the other hand my family try to understand the mental and pyshical part of it all. It's hard for me to attend group only because I work 11am to 730 pm. I hope you get the approval soon. I am pre-op but went to therapy for this type of emotional eating so I can do my best to avoid this happening post-op. It's good you were able to stop at just 3! Please be careful - you are still healing! Try finding a distraction when you get these cravings - walk, read, paint your nails, color, brush your dog (if you have one), etc. Stay strong!
