I can see male only on the app. It is in the male only forum. People post all kinds of stuff in the wrong forum.
Her lecturing post was completely out of line. A young man asking about the function of his penis is perfectly fine. The broads with PCOS post all over the forum everywhere about their baby dreams and no one says a damn thing to them. Maybe he wants to be a dad and hopes surgery will improve his chances.
Women always pop in the male forum giving unneeded advice but men rarely pop in the female forum. Just because women are the majority on the forum doesn't get them the right to be bullys. If he wanted to ask other guys if his knees are going to be sexy that is his business.
No one asked for her Mom opinion. Just because you are old doesn't mean a 24 year old isn't an adult.

RouxDude reacted to CharlotteKat in What was your rate of loss?
I have tracked all my weights since my surgery last year on June 15. I lost 18 lbs. in the 2 weeks before surgery when I was on the liquid diet. After surgery, I averaged 4.1 lbs. per week in the first 6 months. After that point, my average has been 1.75 lbs. per week. My highest loss was 7.6 lbs. in one week. I do need to add that I exercised prior to surgery and after surgery. My doctor said that my rate of loss is on the high end of the spectrum. I would think that a man might lose even faster than I did. You guys have a definite advantage.

Just curious, but do you know why you have had so little success? Do you follow your program?
Your sleeve is still there. If you aren't following your program with your sleeve, how will the bypass be different?

I'm traveling to Vegas at 6 weeks. I don't think I'd want to travel until I get to the soft food stage. I'll be three weeks out tomorrow and I don't think I'd want to travel while still on the pureed food stage and I definitely wouldn't travel while still on liquids!

RouxDude reacted to LibrarianBecky in I broke down and puréed some meat...
    And it was awesome!
I have been resisting puréeing meat--just the idea of it grosses me out. I made a delicious smelling pork loin for dinner for my family though, and decided I would try to blend it with some broth. It was basically the consistency of tuna or ham salad....not terribly appetizing, but not horrible either. I didn't care how it looked, though because it tasted amazing! I puréed a small amount of steamed green Beans as well, which were also delicious.
It is probably a mental thing, but it was so much more satisfying to me to have the same food as my family. I even puréed up some of the leftovers for me to eat over the next couple of days. So, if you are resisting puréeing meats, like I was, give it a try!

Getting through the first two weeks has been excruciatingly hard for me, too. My last day of broth, I was consuming 2 oz and gagging it down. I hate the pills because I can taste the fish in them. I swear I will never eat another "Cream of" ANYTHING once I get past the 2nd phase. The Protein is horrible, but I just keep grinding because I know this will be worth it in a few weeks. It is hard for me to follow directions but I am doing my best. I have to constantly remind myself that I am not unique and there are a lot of people who have walked this journey before me and made it through the other side. I also know this weekend I will get to have some real food!!!

Found this thread by doing a search on "depression"! Yes, I am irritable and angry! My wife is a smaller, in shape gal so she still needs to eat, but I find myself so irritated when I have to eat 2oz of cream of mushroom Soup an oz of pudding and an oz of v8. I keep trying to tell myself there will be light at the end of the liquid tunnel once I can move on to some puréed foods, but I swear I will never eat another freaking spoonful of Jello EVER AGAIN!!

Get creative with some thick (chunk free) soops (sic). Squash, Tomato, black bean, seafood bisque, mushroom... Strain it and enjoy it. I loved this brand: http://www.pacificfoods.com/food/soups.aspx
    Avocado pureed with sour cream.
    Hummus.
Refried Beans with a bit of Water added to loosen them up.
Peanut Butter warmed in the microwave.
There are a lot of options and it's really only a few weeks out of your life. If you look at the big picture, you CAN do this. Reflect on why you had surgery and what your goals are. Let that goal be your inspiration to power through the tough times. You CAN do this, you just have to CHOOSE to do it.

My wife was the same way, but what I have to remember is I am ashamed of my weight and I have carried that with me for a very long time. My wife and those she told (mostly family) have been super supportive. I didn't even tell my oldest daughter and she was hurt. I didn't tell my parents until three weeks prior and I've been in this process for almost a year! I have to be more understanding because this is a family issue and I've come to accept that my wife might need to share for her own sanity!

RouxDude reacted to 2goldengirl in 8 days out ! Cravings galore !
No, you do not "need pizza". Your head is telling you it does, but it lies.
Do you want to know what would happen if you actually tried to indulge that craving right now? first, you would probably only get down a bite, maybe two. Then it would hurt, like crazy. And then it would come back up.
You did not do all the hard work you did to have surgery to let your head derail you now. You just had surgery. Your body needs rest, fluids, liquid nourishment (to avoid stressing your very swollen and healing tummy), and some walking.
Honest, it doesn't "need" anything else. More than likely your head is trying to sell you on all the foods you know you can't even try for a while. Time for your rational side to tell your fanciful side to stop distracting you.
    You can do this. Really.

At this time last year I was just waking up in recovery and weighed in at about 245lbs. My highest recorded weight was 255lbs. Today I am 168lbs. I still haven't reached my goal of 150lbs but I am happier just the same. I had no complications and have been able to eat pretty much anything (in moderation) as long as I do it slowly. I still struggle with crunchy, salty Snacks - definitely my number 1 vice. I've been exercising regularly and have so much more energy. The shopaholic in me loves being able to shop in pretty much any store now...my wallet not so much. Just gotta find a way to buckle down and say goodbye to those last 15-20lbs.

But I am freaking hungry! How have others handled this issue? I can't wait until I can get 1/2 a scrambled egg and some refried beans!!

I'm two days post-op and I was thinking the same thing before my surgery. Honestly, I still have concerns like maybe I over corrected! I began the process back in July 2015 and I know I was prepared for it. I think my feelings now are just the fear of this new way of life. I've been battling my weight since I can remember and TBH, I just got used to the battle and was comfortable in that place. I'm prepared to do what needs to be done based solely on the faith that it has worked for and changed so many lives!
