  1. I drink about 10-12 oz a day regular coffee. Black. I'm 7 months post op, but started drinking coffee again after about 3 months. My dietician was just adamant that I get my liquids in. HW: 437 SW: 376 CW: 293 RNY on 5/16/16
  2. I gave it up during my pre surgery phase, but at 3 months post op I started with coffee again because I enjoy the taste of good beans! I stick to caffeinated because you can't get quality decaf coffee! Just this morning I had a 3-shot Americano and it was wonderful! HW: 437 SW: 376 CW: 293 RNY on 5/16/16
  3. Finally started drinking coffee again at 7 weeks. I limit it to one 12oz and always black. That's livin'b HW: 437 SW: 376 CW: 326 RNY on 5/16/16
  4. I've found that boneless, skinless chicken thighs have this same effect on me! Right out of the pan they are wonderful, but if I reheat them, it is a NO GO! HW: 437 SW: 376 CW: 326 RNY on 5/16/16
  5. I also have to take an iron supplement. HW: 437 SW: 376 CW: 332 RNY on 5/16/16
  6. The only chewy Vitamin I take is the calcium. They are a lot more bearable than the huge calcium citrate tablets! HW: 437 SW: 376 CW: 332 RNY on 5/16/16

Sitting in Las Vegas smoking a Cuban at 6 weeks out today. Just couldn't pass it up! HW: 437 SW: 376 CW: 332 RNY on 5/16/16
  8. I'm flying to Vegas Friday and am hoping for a similar experience! HW: 437 SW: 376 RNY on 5/16/16
  9. I'm so glad I didn't have to endure the liquid diet pre surgery! I did have a controlled diet and lost 18lbs in the 2 weeks prior. As for time off, I was out a week. I have a desk job and have had a great recovery (physically). Mentally, it was tough going back to work while still on a liquid diet. I'm finally in the 2nd week of pureed foods and it had been much easier! HW: 437 SW: 376 RNY on 5/16/16
  10. I'm just curious as to what your rate of weight loss was after your surgery? I had my two week appt last Thursday and I was down 20lbs. HW: 437 SW: 376 RNY on 5/16/16
  11. I haven't been out front advertising it, but I've told more people than I expected to tell. I can't imagine not telling my kids! My family is in this with me and I need as much support as I can get. I also had to come to understand that this is not only my decisions but one that involves my wife and child. There are significant changes my wife has had to make to accommodate my new diet and eating habits. To deny her the opportunity to talk to someone about her struggles is just being selfish IMO. HW: 437 SW: 376 RNY on 5/16/16
  12. I'm traveling to Vegas at 6 weeks. I don't think I'd want to travel until I get to the soft food stage. I'll be three weeks out tomorrow and I don't think I'd want to travel while still on the pureed food stage and I definitely wouldn't travel while still on liquids! HW: 437 SW: 376 RNY on 5/16/16
  13. You can expect A LOT of questions! Don't sweat it. HW: 437 SW: 376 RNY on 5/16/16

  15. I'm two weeks out and my list just says "well cooked, simple" vegetables. Not sure what "simple" means so I'm waiting until I meet with her on Thursday! HW: 437 SW: 376 RNY on 5/16/16
  16. I'm two days into pureed stage. Wow, big change from cream of wheat! I've had some soyrizo and egg, refried beans/cheese, some tuna/avocado/mayo/mustard, and the ricotta bake! Actually looking forward to meals again rather than dreading them like the last two weeks! HW: 437 SW: 376 RNY on 5/16/16
  17. I'm only two weeks out and just started the pureed phase, but I feel like I can eat my meals pretty fast. I actually have to take my time and go slow on purpose. Today for Breakfast, I had 1/2 an egg, some soyrizo, and an oz of refried Beans all mixed together. Eating with a baby spoon, I had to force myself to eat slow and it took me about 20 mins. HW: 437 SW: 376 RNY on 5/16/16
  18. Getting through the first two weeks has been excruciatingly hard for me, too. My last day of broth, I was consuming 2 oz and gagging it down. I hate the pills because I can taste the fish in them. I swear I will never eat another "Cream of" ANYTHING once I get past the 2nd phase. The Protein is horrible, but I just keep grinding because I know this will be worth it in a few weeks. It is hard for me to follow directions but I am doing my best. I have to constantly remind myself that I am not unique and there are a lot of people who have walked this journey before me and made it through the other side. I also know this weekend I will get to have some real food!!! HW: 437 SW: 376 RNY on 5/16/16
  19. I got sober 4 months after this thread originally started! I just figured I pop in and say I'm still sober and grinding it out on the first couple weeks of my post op diet. It is a struggle every day and I swear I will never eat another bite of cream of ANYTHING soup!! HW: 437 SW: 376 RNY on 5/16/16
  20. Found this thread by doing a search on "depression"! Yes, I am irritable and angry! My wife is a smaller, in shape gal so she still needs to eat, but I find myself so irritated when I have to eat 2oz of cream of mushroom Soup an oz of pudding and an oz of v8. I keep trying to tell myself there will be light at the end of the liquid tunnel once I can move on to some puréed foods, but I swear I will never eat another freaking spoonful of Jello EVER AGAIN!! HW: 437 SW: 376 RNY on 5/16/16
  21. I stopped the 2nd day in the hospital. I felt really lucky in that regard. I had my surgery on 5/16, and haven't had to crack the liquid pain meds! HW: 437 SW: 376 RNY on 5/16/16
  22. Have you seen The Revenant? Well the scene where Leo crawls out of the woods and gets some of that raw meat is what I felt like after finally getting to eat some cream of wheat this morning! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. My wife was the same way, but what I have to remember is I am ashamed of my weight and I have carried that with me for a very long time. My wife and those she told (mostly family) have been super supportive. I didn't even tell my oldest daughter and she was hurt. I didn't tell my parents until three weeks prior and I've been in this process for almost a year! I have to be more understanding because this is a family issue and I've come to accept that my wife might need to share for her own sanity! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  24. I'm two days out and am hungry! But I also think it is head hunger although my stomach is growling like a lonely dog left outside too long! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  25. Hey everyone- i had my RNY on Monday 5/16 and just got home today. Finally started phase 1 diet yesterday afternoon and had my first home cooked Beef broth and Jello-O shot for dinner. But I am freaking hungry! How have others handled this issue? I can't wait until I can get 1/2 a scrambled egg and some refried beans!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
