I hate it when people post just to post.....
4 out of 5 dentists recommend you go pee. And then chewing with Trident

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!
One day you'll work up the courage / callouses needed to use adult whips, Mac...A word of caution, though....don't forget a small strip of leather to "bite down on", otherwise the neighbors might get concerned.

Come out of the band failure closet!
OH = obesityhelp.com.....If you want to be entertained, take a stroll over and check it out. It's difficult to navigate at first. The best (most bizarre) posts seem to be in the DS forum.

Need a break from LBT
I looked up "irony" in the dictionary and this post poped up. I didn't see that coming!!

SO NOW I am anorexic?? I hate people...
Karen Carpenter?!? Way to keep the reference fresh and new for the younger folks, dad.....lol

Truer words have never been spoken. The DS'ers are among some of the most unapologetic, militant WLS people ever!

Who's the man Obama or MCcain?
McCain. I liked him a little more since he doesn't want to drill in Anwar. The political pressure for him to endorse drilling is enormous, but he held his ground. I'm conservative, and will state for the record that more drilling is not the answer (listen up, republicans!). That's just putting a band-aid on the problem. If Obama puts forth an aggressive new policy on energy, he might sway me........but the same goes for McCain. I'm voting "energy" this election.

I like older, 60's era movies (mostly the "beach" movies and Sinatra movies). Posting just to post.

Anyone else noticed?
Different docs give different aftercare instructions. I was stunned to read some stuff patients were saying their docs told them. Now, I just hold my tongue....

Are We ready for a Black President?
That's why you shouldn't make such umbrella statements. I think rational, thinking people don't get caught up in stuff like that. "Don't vote for Obama, he's a muslim"......"Don't vote for McCain, it'd be like the 3rd term of George Bush"......"Vote democrat, the republicans have screwed up the country"...."Vote republican, the democrats are weak on terror".... Every quote above is mind-numbingly stupid. Only weak-minded simpletons would allow something inflammatory to influence how they vote. (BTW, my hot button issue is oil. It may eventually wreck our country. We can't drill our way out of this one, folks!!)

Come out of the band failure closet!
I agree. That's why I spend most of my browsing time in the R&R section. It's the most interesting section here (but I do try and welcome / explain things to the noobs. Especially those with 0 or 1 reply to their post) I tend to post things here in between trips tending to my patients, so I sometimes (most of the time) have massive sentence run-on! I wasn't referring to you or Laurend with the "militant" part. I haven't seen very many truly militant bandsters on here (but I have seen a few). There are a lot of militants on OH, though. I still don't really get it. It seems like for some people the lapband defines who they are, and if you say something negative about the band, you're saying something negative about them.

Duh. Gotta fry it.

Come out of the band failure closet!
Very first post of the thread. Uh, I think she made her point. Wasa and Laurend I do agree with you on some points you make. But here's where I differ. Most of the time, I don't feel like I'm the one who should dole out the "tough love" on an internet message board. There's a huge difference between telling your child what to do and telling a stranger what to do. I have taken the "tough love" approach a couple of times, but it's usually been limited to posters that specifically ask to be motivated. Anyway, what I think here is that BII knows that she has, in the past (hell, maybe even in the present) made the wrong choices concerning the band. She knows that already. She doesn't need to be told. If she wants to rant about the wrong things she's done, or how her doc neglected to instruct her adequately in the aftercare, or that she feels "gyped"......go for it. Yes, she put this in R&R, but if you read back, this was before she got this topic organized into the social groups. Maybe it's personality differences. I just don't feel the need to militantly defend the lapband. There are 2 quasi - exceptions to this: 1) Somebody asks me how the lapband is working for me (fan-freakin'-tastic) or 2) somebody asks "Will the lapband work for me" ( I try to spell out explicitly what's required, since I realized a while ago that not all docs tell their patients what they need to do to succeed).

Yeah, that sucks Rick. Hang in there.

A Banded Brother
You're on your way now, PRcowboy! Like Fenton said, walk, walk, walk. It helps.

Ya know....if you ladies would just accept my repeated "friendship requests", it would make stalking all of you a lot easier. I'm just saying....

Come out of the band failure closet!
Personally, I'm a little sad about how this turned out. I think people get waaaaaaaaaay too emotionally invested in a "position" to rationally discuss things. I can see how BII might think she was attacked. But also I think that if you post something in "Rants"......well you're kinda asking for extreme opinions. If I want support, I'll post in the regular sections of LBT. If I want to stir something interesting up, I'll post in "Rants". Either way, I try to play nice......but everybody's different.

Huge fan. Dave Grohl could fart a catchy song.

Are We ready for a Black President?
Hey, I may have a solution to the media bias problem. If you don't like Fox news, don't watch it. If you don't like MSNBC, don't watch. Watch only the stations that you choose to watch, and then you'll never have to fact-check any of the stories...

Calling All 12 hour shift people
Ok, Tess415......I also work 12 hr nights (4 of 'em!). I was having the same problem, and here's what works for me: If you're getting home at 8PM, plan on eating a little mini-meal (high Protein, little bit of veg) around 4PM. Plan on eating lunch around noon, if that is feasable. When I first got banded, I'd eat very little during my work nights.....but I'd be raveneous by the time I got home in the AM. I've found that eating a little something every 4 hours or so helps me not to overeat when I do get home.

New and having problems?
Ok, I know this sounds a little snarky, but I'm not trying to be. Here's the best advice: Go see your doctor and let him / her check you out. You've invested too much to trust your band to strangers on the internet! Go see the doc!!!

Lap Band Question.. Please help!
First, 22 lbs is a super good start. Second, not only is it normal to be tighter in the mornings, but most of us are. Third, I'm gonna be a little preachy and say "Don't eat 2 pieces of pizza Megan!! Eat some protein first, wait a little, and then maybe treat yourself to just a few bites of pizza". You'll be more successful if you mostly eat the good stuff. You can do it!
