I'm having my surgery there too and by Dr. La Masters! Had a great mtg with her today. I'll be having my surgery early March. Because I smoked ugh I have to wait three months. Then because I'm going on a plane in Feb I can't fly after surgery for 90 days. I'm ok with this though more time to prep and focus on some changes beforehand. I'm so glad to hear great things about our surgeon!

Do either of you have Dr LaMasters? She's my surgeon. I've heard amazing things about her. My primary dr had the sleeve surgery too and she looks amazing!! She said that LaMasters is a great surgeon. Starting my two day liquid diet today!! Woohooo. I'm so ready for this new life. My first grandbaby will be born in April so I'm determined even more to get healthy.

Wow!! Time has gone by so fast!! I can't believe my day is almost here. I've felt overwhelmed and terrified up until about two days ago. A calm has settled over me and I'm ready. I know I've researched this surgery for a long time, I have an amazing medical team and awesome support from friends and family. My primary dr and one of my best friends had the sleeve too. They're both doing amazing. That's inspiring. Today is my last day on the 1,200 calorie diet. Tomorrow I start the 2 day liquid diet. Thursday is the big day!! [emoji2] Any extra prayers and good vibes would be appreciated.

Good luck! My surgery is Wednesday. I'm scared to death, but I know that I have done everything that I can possibly do to make for the best surgical situation.
    Good thoughts to you...

To all of the September Sleevers! Just wanted to let you all know I had my Sleeve surgery this past Thursday, Sept 1st. I was nervous a few days before, but the day of surgery, I was unusually calm. Surgery lasted about an hr and I was in recovery for a few hrs due to sleep apnea, they need to monitor longer. I was up walking soon after. Just felt like gas pains and it did travel to my shoulder. I had a nice private room at the end of the corridor, nice and quiet! I didn't like the pain meds, felt nauseous, so I just took liquid Tylenol. I was able to have liquids on day two, had a bit of broth, Decaf tea, but Isopure was nasty! I sip everything slowly and got it down ok. I came home today, only pain is where they put drainage tube, not my stomach! It just feels sore like stitch pain, but very tolerable. I got some Premier Protein drinks in chocolate, they are 30 grams of Protein. Much tastier than isopure! Just a bit tired from hospital and a little sore. I had a great surgeon and hospital staff was amazing. Hoping for all of you to have a speedy recovery!! The best thing is to be prepared beforehand and go in positive!

I taste tested several to be sure I'd be happy. I chose Isopure unflavored. I put it in everything.

I'm using Isopure unflavored. Clumps a little bit in hot Soups. Amazing in sf pudding and shakes. I do a cup of milk, Greek yogurt and Protein in blender. Can't even taste the Protein. I also did cream of wheat today and couldn't taste the protein. It mixed well in that.

RTD = Ready to Drink Isopure had powders, and they also have bottles of liquid that are ready to drink.

Thank you for sharing you're thoughts on Genepro. I've had the same exact thoughts after a few hours research last week. People here on BP rave about it, but it just seems a little too shady to me.
My Isopure from Amazon is in the mail. I'm a little worried about it, considering I hate all of Isopure's RTD's. But I'm ready to give it a try.

Bleach the Isopure rtd are not representative of the unflavored! 'Mainly due to not having an artificial flavor or sweetener.
I agree though. I drank them for about the first week post op because at the time I just could not get myself to drink shakes after surgery. So it was like half of the rtd and a broth with unflavored.
My go to is now premier rtd chocolate and unjury chicken. Still have and use isopure unflavored. I like that best in cold Water with a little lime, or in broth.

GENEPRO has no taste and mixes well with hot and cold, just make sure the hot isn't too hot.

I used to like genpro, but it was reformulated about a year ago. I like pipingrock.com which is very good, much lower price and mixes well except at high temp (think coffee, give it 5-10 minutes to cool off).

Ok so there are those who swear by GENEPRO and those who like others. The key to any is that you don't go over 140 degrees with Water mixing. I have mixed Isopure with cold Water and hot broth. I love it it is tasteless I find it odorless it is inexpensive in comparison to some other brands. You can get it at Vitamin shoppe GNC or Amazon
For me, GENEPRO seems like a shady company that also hawks "natural steroids" with a lot of scam appearing science. And I cannot get over the 30g of Protein in 15 g serving. I am all about reasonable space time continuum.
powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury starter kit is nice because you get their chicken broth (yum!) a thermometer and shaker bottle
    Best of luck!

Can I get some opinions on GENEPRO vs Isopure unflavored Protein? Which one seems to mix into stuff the best? After taste? Etc. Just looking for some input before I buy any. Surgery is Thursday. I bought Premier Protein and I like those now but have heard taste buds can change after surgery. I want to be prepared. Thank you.

As a person who has been a mental health warrior for a very long time I fully understand the reason this post was made.
For a lot of you here, blunt and what you like to call tough love is 100% your approach. It is your approach because you aren't personally impacted by that approach, giving or receiving it. That's your way life.
For someone like me, it's just not that easy. I can dissect every single word slung at me. Over analyze it. Be hurt. Be sad. Worry about it for hours on end. Every time I speak/write I analyze everything to determine how it would impact me. I'm not saying the tough lovers don't think before they speak. What I am saying is that it probably isn't agonizing for you.
Is my sensitivity your fault? No. But it isn't mine either. I don't expect anyone to pussyfoot around me. And you shouldn't expect everyone to understand your bluntness, or that it was only meant just that, tough love. Not all minds work that way.
Then there are also the people who just come out of the gate swinging if someone says something they don't agree with. I'm not excusing these people, but I am a little in awe of them for having the ability to so readily defend themselves because I most often shy away from conflict. And yes, I agree they go over board and push buttons and escalate things quickly.
I guess my point is that the people who don't understand this post might have never walked in the shoes of a person with a shattered mind. We can't just toughen up. We can't just grow thicker skin. We can't always control what "butt hurts" us. That said, we also shouldn't be banned from the internet though, like is often suggested because we are sensitive. We want and need support to and you have no right to determine what does or doesn't hurt or bother us.
The world is so full of hate. If we could all try a little harder to see each other's perspective there wouldn't be so many lines drawn in the sand.
I appreciate most everyone here. I know I'm sensitive so I avoid posts that go in a direction that doesn't support my needs. Am I ultimately avoiding conflict? Yes. But that is how I make it through this world that often leaves me feeling ways that aren't healthy for me. Maybe for you tough lovers, if a responder gets a little upset, don't keep going. Just bow out of the post. You never know what storm another person is walking through.

    Greetings, all!
I think my take-away from Alex's post is this: "Be ever mindful that you communicate on this forum from a place of positive intent, and do your best to consider the impact it will have on the other person. Let this guide the manner in which you engage in this forum." In other words, this isn't the place to be a jerk. In a nutshell, that's the conclusion I came to. Works for me.
