Today-- trying on a pair of size 6 pants...down from 24's exactly 8 months post op today.  
Here is the funny thing... I knew I'd fit into a 6- and the only pair that they had was on a mannequin. Asked the sales clerk to take them off so I could try them on. She looked at me and tried to talk me out of it- saying they run very small. I repeated to her that I wanted to try them on and she obliged but kept repeating that they wouldn't fit, they run small.
Boom.
(I should add that I WAS wearing baggy clothes when I walked in...but STILL!!!)

Today is my one year surgiversary! 11/17/15 - the day I chose to take my life back and learn to put myself first again. #tbt to both the biggest challenge and best year of my life. I am forever grateful for all of the support I have been given by so many wonderful people in my life - doctors, an amazing nutritionist, counselor, friends, colleagues, students/athletes, and, most importantly, family. I got my approval today! March 14th is the day. I'm super excited. I've got my bone density scan and RMR to do, then it's go time! Anybody else have a March date? Also, pre op diet starts Feb 28th. For those who have already done the pre op diet, any tips?

These two people have very different lives, the one on the left hated Mondays because he had to go to work and didn't feel well because he only had 3 hours of sleep due to the fact his sleep apnea tried to kill him every night. The one on the right cannot wait to wake up after a great night sleep, to get to the gym and sculpt his guns.

Finally i was sleeved yesterday with no complications . Im still in the hospital waiting to do the leak test and go home.

It's starting!!! Just traded all my size 20 jeans for the stack of 18s that were in my closet. 22 lbs down so far! I'm so excited to see where I end up!

They approved me moving forward! I have some labs and an EKG to do and in less than 2 weeks I see the program coordinator to make sure I'm good to go. Then they submit to insurance and once approved I get a date! They said on average it's 4-6 weeks from this point.
I've got lots of mixed emotions going on right now... but mostly excitement

****I will likely be adding random posts to this thread to keep myself motivated and on target as I get this process rolling. No worries if no one reads/responds, but I need to put it somewhere and it needs to be more public than a journal for me to feel that it's real.****
I've been on this site all weekend. Reading about people's journeys, looking at the before/after threads (which are incredibly motivating and wonderful), looking for any negatives people have had. I can honestly say I am truly ready for this. In the past I'd read a few negatives and be like "nope, not going to risk it!" and move on to my yo-yo cycle of diet and weight loss/gain. This time, I am thinking "worth the risk".
I am too young for this to be my life. Being too tired to go for a long walk/bike ride with my kids and when I do, feeling it for DAYS afterwards. Having knees that creak when I go up stairs. Being winded after a walk to the mailbox!! I'm just now starting to realize just how unhealthy I am. Being that I didn't have any major medical issues before I was diagnosed with high blood pressure last year (besides hypothyroidism, but that's not going away regardless of my weight), I never really though I was "that big" or unhealthy in general. I'm now beginning to accept just how large I truly am. You'd think the little number 20 on my pants would be enough to tell me that, but I guess I just saw what I wanted.
I've read that people my size can hope/expect to lose up to 100lbs the 12 to 18 months if I'm careful and stick to the rules. Last time I was that weight was high school, and that was only because I'd basically starved myself for several months before a school Disney trip. I looked good! I still thought I was fat. Hindsight, I know. I'd LOVE to be that weight again. I've been 220+ since before i got married back in 2002. This is not who I want to be. This is not me.
I'm ready to make a life-altering change now.

I had my surgery yesterday. It went smoothly. I'm sore, but the gas pain hasn't been as bad as I expected. I've had some chicken broth and a no sugar added fudgesicle and now some beef broth. Anybody else have surgery yesterday?

5 months 79 pounds down !!! My only regret is I didn't do this years ago . Only 6 pounds lost this month, but I'm in onederland . Haven't been here in a long time and it feels so good

Just posted this in another thread this morning:
It's important to remind yourself that you made the decision to have surgery when you were in a logical/rational state of mind. Last-minute jitters are common, but they are emotional and irrational. Don't let them deter you from following through on a decision that you made after a LONG period of research and reflection.

Face update on progress, a year and a half out and I'm still losing weight, albeit a lot slower but still losing!!!!!
