I've just realised I have lost 100lbs! I only weigh once a month so this actually happened a couple of weeks ago! I've gone from 260lb to 160lb, although it may be a bit less than that now. The last 20years has totally revolved around my bathroom scales and I simply haven't had a life. Thankfully now I have been able to put the scales away and get out there and live life.....happy' happy, happy!
I am off to a reunion this weekend with people I haven't seen for years (some of them for 30+ years). This is something I would NEVER have had the confidence to do last year. I will probably look a lot more wrinkly than some people there (I'm 63) but I simple don't care. Having lost weight I just can't describe how good I feel! Happy days! I feel there is nothing I can't do - I am just coming to the end of the C25K and can now run for 25 minutes!
For anyone considering the sleeve I really can't think of any down sides - just DO IT!

Thank you allibaba. I'm not afraid of the surgery or the pain but the hard work afterwards and all the "what if's" However...I was reminded yesterday the quote, "don't let the fear of failure keep you from trying" I once thought my life was over and over came it. I just need to remember the WILL is still there. I do struggle with the thought if I have the will to do the sleeve surgery and all the post surgery stuff, I question why can't I lose my weight on my own. Either way, no one said it would be easy.

Lori222 reacted to sam1016 in Did you eat on the 2week liquid diet?
I am on a two week liquid diet... 5 Protein Shakes, sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello, and clear broths and of course Water. I am on day two and it sucks!! However, I have been drinking a lot of water to fill myself up and going to bed a lot earlier then normal because I am having caffiene withdrawal. I do recommend that if you are coffee/tea/or soda drinker to try and cut that out while you are still eating normal food so that the liquid diet does having you feel tired and getting a headache as I am experiencing. My surgery is May 9th and I am getting nervous and excited. One thing that my surgeon mentions is that they will close you right back up if they have any concerns about the size and or fatty content of your liver because it is too much of a risk if you do not shrink the liver. I do not want to take any chances in not following the orders because I went through so many hoops to get to this point. I suggest following the orders and if you are going to cheat, cheat within the first few days and then stick to it!!! Also it is important to understand that each person is different and may follow different orders based on their health, weight, and BMI, just because one person only did a few day liquid diet does not mean that your doctor is wrong in telling you that you need 2 weeks. They are not asking anything from you that you don't need to do =)

I was sleeved one day after you and I've been stalled for about two weeks. I made my husband hide the scale from me because it was really impacting my mood. I had my one month follow-up on Friday and the surgeon is very happy with my progress. I have to keep reminding myself that 22 pounds in four weeks is amazing and I could not have done that with any other diet plan. We have to just keep on trucking and wait for this to end. Good luck!!

My advice? Relax! I know it's scary to see a "stall" when you may have had weight loss failures in the past. I'm at 1 year 3 months out from surgery and saw several stalls. They'd usually be followed by a pretty rapid drop in weight. My weight didn't go down in a straight line, it was more like a staircase. Keep moving, drinking, and staying positive. The weight will come off, don't stress out about it!
    I've lost 110 lbs, btw.

I have pulling and pain on the main site. My surgeon said it was part of the healing process. The more you do the less you notice or start to get used to it. If I stay busy I hardly notice it. When I'm sitting or when I first wake up is when it is the worst.

Lori222 got a reaction from KristenLe in Emotional struggle after gastric sleeve
Just wanted to add, that our emotions are all out wack due to extreme diet change. I had my sleeve surgery March 30th. I still don't think I've reached 64 oz. And I have to have 70 grams of Protein a day. Although the nutritionist did not agree, a nurse called about 5 days after my surgery and said to Guage your fluids by the color of your urine. The lighter the better. Dietitian reminded me dehydration is the top reason for returns to hospital after surgery.
I too struggle to get it all in and wonder how it will fit with work when I return.
I just have to remind myself that so many others have done this successfully. I made this decision and I will see it through. I did just order the book mentioned here, thank you! Hang in there with me

Best advice is make sure to tell them if you need anything in the hospital. Everyone handles is different so it's hard to tell. I'm still feeling pain but once I hot over the nauseous it's been better. Glad to be home but miss the remote bed.

I dunno if this helps but I've had a weight watchers reunion of
... if I don't do it this time, then WLS. Take 2. Take 3. I worry too...we have strong experiences with WL failure that rear their ugly head. Back to WW had the same result...lose 20 lbs, gain it back yo yo yo. This is it. I plan on following a plan, but, I look at it this way, even if for whatever reason I didn't maintain my loss, I'm just back where I started and truly know I did all I could in this life to manage my weight.

@@melyssafaye @@Lori222 - those fears are pretty common, and some of us fall down and get back up and come back here for support. The pre-op is tough and I am not going to say your post-op is going to be any easier.
Think about it this way - why did you go through all of this? Could you lose before? What are you going to do if you back out? Join weight watchers? Atkins? Join a gym, start working out, eat less......
We have all been there, done that. It didn't work. There ARE NO GUARANTEES. This is a tool.
We are here - get online, ask those scary questions and call your medical team.
Go outside if you are hungry, take a walk, drink some Water.
I backed out - had to wait for pre-op classes to cycle back around. What did it for me was realizing I COULDNT do it on my own. I could GAIN weight (I did when I backed out). I was scared.
    I HAVE NO REGRETS!

I just wrote something similar last night. I think we have to keep in mind that we are reducing calories, it messes with our emotions. If you notice you have ups and downs. My surgery is this Wed. and I was doubting my decision to have surgery. In the end I think I will be greatly disappointed if I pass on this. Hang in there and listen to the ones who have done it. I have to have faith they know more than we do. At the same time I have to own up to my part in the food intake.
    Good luck in surgery
