BelgianGuy got a reaction from Valentina in Rice? Pasta? Bread?
I am three two months and a half out, I have lost 50 pounds and was never warned against rice, bread or Pasta... Well I was told to reduce it and eat brown rice and Pasta, and whole grain bread (I hate white bread anyway).
Twice a month I have pasta with salmon, or some rice with vegetables, even sushis (not a lot though). I have the occasional grilled slice of whole grain bread with hummus or cheese (French, Dutch and Belgian cheeses are quite good).
It's weird all the differences I see between my country and the USA. I was never asked to drink Protein shakes, or to stop coffee and tea, and still my weight loss is rather good, around 3 to 4 pounds a week for a month and a half, and I have not yet experienced a stall.

I don't even know what Twinkies are and I have never had milkshake in my whole life. I just said my surgeon and my dietitian never told me anything wrong about brown pastas/rice and whole grain bread, I sure hope they know what they are doing since they studied around 9years to be there.
My mother also had a sleeve and still eat these things while maintaining 22 BMI, which is far from being bad.
And yes indeed I am a "newbie", I didn't come here for people to laugh at me or being condenscending. Have a nice day.

Well today is my "two months" surgery anniversary, and I went from 123,3kilograms (around 272ponds) to 102,3kilograms (around 225,5 pounds). I am sure pretty glad about the result and I have been feeling great recently, being able to go back on more intensive biking but also swimming.
    Cheers everyone!

Well, I feel the same way I must say! Ever since my surgeon told me I could go back to biking and swimming, I have been feeling pretty good which is kinda weird after the first "meh" month where I was tired all the time.
I don't think there is anything wrong, if you don't feel pain or perpetual disconfort then it should mean everything is fine! Enjoy feeling good is all I can say

BelgianGuy got a reaction from Miss Mac in Regretting the sleeve so much and afraid I will die or have serious problems down the road
I am young as well, just one year older than you. I know it just straight up sucks at first: pain, liquid food that tastes like sh!t, etc.
I had regrets as well, but now I am already half through my weight goal in only 7 weeks.
Also you should follow the golden rule of the Internet: don't believe everything that is written on the internet. I got myself all worked up one week before surgery due to some stupid articles, but a rapid look at their sources (if they had any) quickly proved it was all based on ... nothing.
Just keep in mind that being obese is not healthy at all, and might as well have ruined your youth. I mean, I am 23 years old and was already having sleep apneas and backpain, things that should not happen at such a young age... Plus ablation of the stomach has been used in various situations to treat cancer for example. If you are afraid of growing older faster, drink more green tea and have a tiny piece of 70% black chocolate from time to time But I don't think it will happen since your article is nothing but a pile of dung.

Let yourself the time to heal and feel better, go to a support group and embrace the change. Enjoy your loss weight because it sure made me a lot happier Cheers!

Well as someone from Belgium, I do hope I will be able to sip a bit from a trappist beer in the future But I never was a big soda fan, except maybe Dr. Pepper, but really occasionally.

My surgeon told me to wait 3 months if I wanted to try again, he told me that a glass of wine wouldn't hurt but that I should not make an habit out of it.
On the other hand, my mother also had a sleeve and she has a glass or two per week, in summer she sometimes has a beer (low carbonated flemish style beer).
I personally plan on waiting till the end of June, some friends from abroad are coming to visit and I'll surely have a glass of sangria or a sip of beer... But I actually don't miss so far, which is rather impressive since I used to drink a lot every weekend!

BelgianGuy got a reaction from BlueEyed4u in So what's the deal with fizzy drinks?
Your new stomach is rather small and apparently many patients experiment lots of pain from the carbonation. And in general, the carbonated drinks are not very healthy, and since you can still drink your calories after the sleeve, it's easy to cheat.

ohh boy Do I ever know this issue. I have never had issues with being cold. Now I am freezing my butt off. I use to wear shorts and tank tops in the snow without issue. Now I am brrrr all the time.. Can't wait for summer... Maybe I won't struggle with the heat anymore that would be nice!! I think it's time to actually buy real winter clothes isntead of the few pieces of winter clothing I have... ( that are too big of course) LOL
